A Way to End an Argument
PV with @Jack Warren
Hex Code: #259986
Date: April 2nd, Lunchtime
Spending time at her own house table was not something she exactly did often. She would spend her time either at the Slytherin table or in the courtyard. Truly, she had no clue how she ended up acquainted with so many snakes with all of the bad reputation they had. She really adored that house. Occasionally she found herself at the table that was just plain... loud. The Gryffindors, but much preferred the mostly polite company of Slytherin. Lately she had felt severely lacking in fellow badgers to surround herself with, as much as she loved Mildred and Jake she really wanted to make a point to get to know more of her fellow housemates. There were a few she knew, but not enough to consider them friends.
Jack Warren was one of those odd balls, she genuinely didn't know how to feel about him. Their first encounter was messy and ended up with both of them nearly losing their heads. Then at Professor Browne's birthday party she saw a different side of him, one that cared for a terrified boy so fiercely. It only continued when she actually had a fun time with him a couple days ago at the impromptu pool party. He was an enigma, and she hated it so much. She hated that people were so complicated because it just continued to make it harder to figure out if she should trust them.
For once she arrived to lunch early, before a lot of her friends had arrived so she took a seat sitting alone for the time being. Her eyes interrogated the food in front of her and decided she wanted a light lunch today. She normally would just stock up on a whole bunch of food but it made her feel sluggish going into her afternoon classes. Of course she grabbed a glass of pumpkin juice which had become a favorite of hers, and got started making herself a plate of various roasted and grilled vegetables waiting for someone to arrive. She definitely hadn't expected her first lunchtime guest to be the one that appeared in front of her. "Jack? Joining me for lunch today?" The surprise dripped off of her voice, she really couldn't help it.

@Willow AndersonOn an average day, the Scamander squad usually sat together, but today was different. There are only a few days in a person's life that feel... not the same. The human condition revolves around routine. Humans are creatures of habit. Every single one is destined to live, love, and finally die. It never changes... until it does.
Jack arrived early to lunch on this rare 'different' day, and of course, George and Jake were not there for food yet. Mr. Hufflepuff was all alone. Well, not entirely alone, but his closest friends weren't there. He didn't solely care about making friends, but at this point, Jack was starting to wish that he had branched out more with his friend group more.
Suddenly! A tiny demon like pipsqueak dirty blonde haired girl caught Jack's eye. It couldn't be the firecracker, could it? Narrowing his eyes, he slowly walked towards the girl from the opposite side of the long wooden Hufflepuff table. Several other Huffles chatted and munched on delicious and savory delights. Confidently, Jackson strolled right on passed them before stopping directly in front of Willow.
With a deft hand, he snatched a sweet fluffy roll that had been sat in the center of the table. Taking a big ol' bite, Jack sat his pretty butt on the bench directly across from her.
He chewed, as Willow looked up at him asked if he was going to be her lunch guest on this beautiful day. "Why of course I am. I've wanted to talk to you for days now! I wanted to have a little chat about your sketchbook." Another big bite from the roll, and continued with a half mouthful "Now, I said I was sorry about insulting your art, but I wanted to say I was expecting daisies and sunshine. What I wasn't expecting was a fire and a crown of lil' brambles. It seems a lil' bit odd coming from such a girly girl like you." He finally swallowed the food in his mouth, before pausing to take a drink of water. He ended his little statement with a grin.

Interacting with @Jack Warren
It's not that she didn't trust Jack... but she definitely didn't trust Jack. So his approach already had her on edge, not to mention it was her birthday and she really didn't need any drama today. Her tension only grew as he started talking about her journal... openly... in the Great Hall. The art that appeared in that journal specifically was supposed to stay private, sometimes a vent journal, sometimes a doodle journal, the amount of meaning that was in each piece varied but she knew that he had seen the most vulnerable piece of what it feels like to be a muggle witch in her hometown.
It was obvious she wasn't that content with this interaction from the way she was stabbing tomatoes more viciously than was needed to get them onto her fork. Honestly, Willow wasn't the most polite person when it came to table manners but someone talking with their mouth full was one of her pet peeves. He just, was really digging himself his own hole so no wonder she got aggravated with him once again. "You've wanted to talk to me for days? We literally saw each other yesterday." She wished he would've talked to her about it yesterday, so she could've immediately left the situation. Here she couldn't, she needed to eat lunch and if she didn't fully walk out of the Great Hall she was sure he would follow her.
An eye roll came immediately following his comments about her being a girly girl and apparently being incapable of having darker thoughts. She knew she was girly. That didn't render her incapable of having different sides that people didn't know about. "Congrats, you don't know me that well. Didn't think I would have to tell you that after meeting twice. Hopefully you don't take everyone at surface level right upon meeting them. Would you believe that people can have duality? I'm not all daisies and sunshine, though daisies are my second favorite flower."
Quickly she was becoming exasperated by the boy and the fact that he thought this was a decent apology or whatever, "Also, you never said sorry for insulting my art. You said you were sorry, and that you were maybe in the wrong. Completely different. Art is sensitive, and I don't appreciate you coming in here and just talking openly about it. This could've been settled in our common room so people didn't have to hear a description of my most vulnerable piece, but go off I guess if it makes you sleep better at night." She finished her plate of vegetables and grabbed a piece of bread to take her anger out on next, ripping pieces from it and popping them into her mouth with occasional swigs of water in between.

@Willow AndersonOh- that doesn't look like a happy face to Jack. Willow's face reminded him more of the older kids back home who would try to whoop his butt. The look of annoyance and loathing was one he was very familiar with.
"Be careful there. You might break the plate if you keep on stabbin' like you are." He commented idly. Luckily he had set down his roll and opted for only more water at the moment.
Willow was quick to remind him that he had only just seen here twelve or so hours earlier. He cocked an eyebrow at the girl. His grin was growing as he saw Willow's agitation. She was kind of cute when she was annoyed. The blonde Hufflepuff continued in a somewhat sarcastic manner. Of course, he didn't know her that well, but he was trying to compliment her. Like what the hell? Didn't she get that?
What in the hell did she mean that Jack didn't say sorry!? He did say he was sorry! "Why are you getting so upset over some stupid art, it's just something you just drew." Jack didn't understand the venom behind her voice. "I was just trying to say your thing looked pretty. God, learn how to take a compliment." The indignant tone in his voice demonstrated his lack of understanding. The shit-eating grin on his face had vanished as quickly as it had appeared.

The violent things she wishes she could do to this string bean. She shouldn't have healed his head, if it even did heal on the outside obviously something didn't come back right on the inside. He was an absolute egomaniac who thinks he did nothing wrong. Her bread was quickly discarded onto the empty plate, suddenly having no appetite as she balled up her fists in her lap. There were two times when she had punched someone... she didn't want there to be a third. This was something she could control right?
She could've. Until he said some choice words.
Her hands slammed on the table and she pushed herself up, she wasn't going to sit here and let some attitude filled Hufflepuff make himself feel better about that whole situation by paying her a compliment about art he wasn't even supposed to see. "It's not stupid! Maybe I could take a compliment if you learned how to give one in the first place. Maybe if you started thinking with the actual brain on top of your head instead of whatever else you try and think with you'd see that you're being ridiculous! You never had permission to look at my journal in the first place. Why would I want you to compliment it? That was private. You don't even know what it's supposed to be about, you don't get it, you don't get me. So don't try and waltz up here and act like everything is fine and dandy when you're an absolute jerk who can't do a straight up apology for something that was so obviously not ok!" She fought to catch her breath, barely taking a second to breathe while she was yelling at him. Her arms went up to defiantly cross across her chest, this boy confused her. How could he be so cruel with this but so kind in other ways? Only one way to find out.
"You obviously care about people in some capacity, I saw it at Professor Browne's birthday. You obviously know how to have good wholesome fun, that doesn't involve stealing because I saw that at the pool party. How is it that those two things get negated as soon as it comes to invading me and the privacy of a journal? Was is it about me for you that makes it to where I'm the exception to whatever the hell you have going on that makes you a decent person?" It was a familiar feeling, being the easy pickings. She was small, used to be timid, scared, but she wouldn't stand for that anymore. Except for in this case, where she was indeed standing instead of sitting.

@Willow AndersonJack blinked several times, as Willow decided to spank the table. What that table ever do to her? Obviously, the table did something wrong, because there was no way that she was actually mad at Jack.
She yelled out about how her art wasn't stupid, before continuing to spit out more anger filled word at him. How could she say that he didn't think with his brain! He was incredibly intelligent! She was talking about how he didn't have the right to look in her journal! Which there wasn't a sign or anything! Jack had clearly started to drift off, but he heard the words 'Absolute Jerk.'
"What!? I am not a jerk!" He stood up, angrily."You have no right to call me a jerk." The boy crossed his arms over his chest. Suddenly he had an idea—time to make a scene. With a big step, he placed his foot on the bench. "And I did apologize!" She continued to rampage about how was a terrible person, even tho he was a good friend and fun at the party- of course. But he had nothing against her. Jack was literally trying to be kind to her, and now Willow is mad! Hoisting himself up to stand on the chair, Jack casually he stepped onto the main Hufflepuff table and across it. Hopping down beside her, Jack looked down at her.
Just then, something odd happened. Wait, why was he getting closer? Was he doing this on purpose? Everything happened so fast! Before he knew it, Jack had his lips pressed up against Willow's.

The amount of times her eyes rolled during this conversation might qualify her as a gymnast. How much did she have to point out about how wrong he was about literally everything he was saying for it to get through that dumb thick skull of his. She stomped her foot, the dramatic little firecracker getting petty and annoyed, "You are too a jerk! I have every right, because I'm right about this." A low growl of annoyance came from the back of her throat, but he was... stepping over the table? He continued to show how much a nuisance he was, did he think this would help in his favor? Her voice wavered and got softer as he continued to come closer, suddenly incredibly nervous. "You barely apologized! It was a maybe apology! You didn't own up to anything!"
She forgot how tall he was for a moment, being across the table from him. Now that he was standing next to her she felt incredibly small. Then he started coming towards her, probably doing that dumb move of 'getting on her level' that tall people did to make a point. His trajectory was getting him oddly close... and then it happened.
Willow froze, eyes wide open as she realized Jack was kissing her. Oh my God and Goddess, he was kissing her. This was her first kiss. In the Great Hall with an incredibly cute frustrating boy. They were just fighting, what was he doing? Oh my god, he wasn't pulling away. She wasn't pulling away. Neither of them were doing anything, but kissing...
Suddenly she felt someone gently but firmly pulling her away from Jack, her surprised trance was broken and her eyes quickly searched for who it was, @Alan Vanes. She had never been more relieved to see the Gryffindor boy. A sigh of relief came out of her and she found his hand and held tightly onto it, as if it was the only thing saving her from that moment. Not that he was a bad kisser, but how dare he!
Finally she came back to her senses and the anger bubbled up once again, Jack was lucky that Alan was here or he would've gotten it a lot worse. Her voice started out quiet but quickly grew in volume. "How... dare you! Who in the world do you think you are to just... kiss someone! In the Great Hall no less! Do you really think you're that great of a person?" She held her hand up to stop him from answering, "Don't bother answering, I already know how you'll answer." She was fuming, tears pricked her eyes, she felt humiliated. In front of her friends no less.
ReducioPermission to godmod Alan given.

A Way to End an Argument
Calming Presence
@Willow Anderson & @Jack Warren
The third year was just arriving at the Great Hall and on his way towards the Gryffindor table when he heard loud murmur from the badger table. He probably would have ignored it for now if it was not for the fact that one of the voices he was hearing sounded oddly familiar. He had never heard this person raise her voice however and that was something of concern so he looked around until his eyes locked onto the blonde Hufflepuff girl that seemed to be in an argument with someone across from her. Alan wondered if she would need and help, but figured she was able to fight her own battles; at least verbally. She did seem like she had everything under control.
But that changed as soon as he saw the other figure raise to his feet and step onto the table, crossing the way until he jumped down and found his footing next to Willow, towering over the younger Hufflepuff girl. By that point in time, Alan had already been marching over, ready to help his friend out of this situation, but before he reached them he witnessed something that he did not expect. What he did expect was Jack maybe threatening the girl or something or trying to taunt her, but he watched as he lowered himself to her eye-level and sloppily placed his lips on hers. Alan's eyes widened and his reaction was almost instantly as he carefully grabbed Willow by her upper arm and dragged her backwards; next to him and away from the boy that he now recognized as the kid from the pool party.
"Wh-What the hell?", he exclaimed, staring at Jack in disbelief and confusion, as he felt Willow reach for his hand and grab it tightly, it was slightly painful for a while, but he was not bothered by it for now as he glared at Jack, waiting for some kind of explanation. He really liked the other kid and the pool party had been fun, but he had no idea why he would do that to Willow. He did not have to be able to see to know, that Willow had not wanted this and soon she proofed it as soon as she opened her mouth to talk. Why would Jack kiss her, in the Great Hall out of all places and in the middle of an argument?
"A-Are you okay? Wh-What even happened?", he asked, stumbling over his words. The first question was directed at Willow and Willow alone, but for the second one he looked between the two of them, brows furrowed and his mind spinning in circles.

A Way to End an Argument
In the mornings before Mildred would head out for breakfast, she would stare at Chicken and her heart would break, she truly hated leaving him alone in her dorm room all day. To fix this, she started a new routine where she would try once a week to bring Chicken out with her and they would both walk around the school or something, perhaps they would spend time together in the courtyard, or even the great lake. Anywhere, as long as she was with her stuffed animal friend she was happy.
She hugged Chicken protectively in her arms as she walked towards the Great Hall, she decided that they would both enjoy a quick lunch before heading back to class- it was strange that she brought her stuffed animal companion with her to class however it was hurting anyone if anything- bringing chicken with her to class often helped her calm down and do better in her classes.
As she entered the great hall, she quickly walked towards the Hufflepuff table and gasped at the sight before her. In shock, she dropped Chicken and had to quickly pick him up before he had fallen, in front of her- there was Willow and someone she didn't know kissing her-
What? was that Willow's boyfriend? Willow didn't tell me she was dating anyone... hurt spread throughout the young Hufflepuff girl, they were dormmates! Willow would have told her right? Soon enough she saw a Gryffindor boy pull them apart... huh? if anything- she was confused now, was that boy not Willows boyfriend? who was he then?
She grew even more confused with what Willow said to him, she looked back and forth at them- it looked like Willow was on the verge of tears, did the boy forced a kiss on Willow? before she knew it she raised Chicken and threw it at the boy who was kissing Willow seconds before.
She wasn't exactly sure why she did that- while Chicken wasn't exactly the most hardest thing she could have ever thrown, he was completely made of stuffing however his face or rather the part with his snout and eyeballs they were quite hard, and if truly if she wanted to use Chicken was a weapon she could if she tried hard enough.

A Way to End an Argument
It was lunch-time and all the students were digging into the many delicious choices that Hogwarts provided - most of them anyway. Jake was preoccupied, and though a grilled cheese sandwich (his favorite lunch of all) sat upon his plate, he had sort of forgotten about it. He was reading one of many books about creatures that he had taken out of the Hogwarts library. He scooted closer to one of his best friends (and bunk buddy) to tell him what he'd seen.
"Georgie, you're never gonna believe this," Jake was saying with some awe. The book he was reading was a long one, but it was almost never boring. The library had books of all varieties, books for kids, and teenagers, and older too. The ones for kids were really great because they had a lot of pictures of all of the creatures inside, which Jake loved. But sometimes he wanted to get more information so he would read a great variety. The larger ones sometimes had words he didn't know, but he usually could ask an older kid what they meant, or Professor Browne, or the librarian. Even when the reading was tough, he tried really hard to get through it because he wanted to learn as much about the creatures as he could, more than the kids' books could teach him. "You heard about the loch ness monster right? The one that lives in Scotland?" the boy asked. His friend was busy eating enough for two boys, but Jake thought he was probably listening.
"Well guess what, he's not a monster at all! And he IS real. But ya wanna know why nobody can find him? 'Cause he's a kelpie. Look at this," Jake said, motioning the book picture towards George."It looks almost like a horse that's swimming, but it can change its shape so sometimes it looks like a horse and other times it looks like a serpent and sometimes it looks like an otter. You couldn't even have a stuffed kelpie because it changes so much that it'd never be right. The serpent is the one they thought was a monster, but when they come to look for him he changes back from a serpent into something else. He's hiding I guess. He can do it really easy."
"But ya know...Kelpies are really dangerous. They look cute in the picture, but they're really scary. They actually try to trick you, 'cause like ya think it's just a horse so you might wanna ride it or something. So if you ever see a horse in the water and it tells you to ride it you shouldn't do it, okay George? Cause it eats you and then...it makes your um...ent...rails...um, what's ent-rails?" he asked curiously. "Well I dunno what that means...but it sounds like it's really bad." The kelpie was definitely not as cute as the nifflers or the bowtruckles or the hippogriffs, but it was still interesting, especially since the muggles had seen it and didn't even know. Maybe the yeti was some kind of creature too...
"Oh, ya know what else?" he began, but a commotion soon made Jake look up from his book - the slamming of hands on a table giving him a jolt. He heard the voice of his friend Willow. She was arguing with his other friend, Jack. Jake looked uneasily to George and then back to the others. He always hated the sounds of fighting...but he hated it a lot more when it was two people that he knew.
Things were about to get a whole lot weirder though.
Jack stood up...ON THE TABLE. It made Jake dart his eyes around sure that a prefect or teacher was going to give him detention right then because there was no way they were allowed to be standing on the furniture. The thought of his friend getting detention made him anxious - as Jack's bad behavior often did - but what happened next made detention seem like a trip to the zoo.
The two fellow first-years got in each other's face, and then Jack...put his lips right against Willow's. For a long time.
Jake stared in shock and horror. He couldn't believe his eyes, and he made a face instantly. Jack had kissed her! Kissing was about the grossest thing that he could imagine. It was the weirdest thing that grown-ups did. It just didn't make sense. Why would anybody even want to touch mouths like that? Kids didn't do it, since kids just didn't have the magic thing or whatever that made something so gross turn into something not. Two kids kissing just seemed wrong. And two of his friends?
"Ewww...." Jake cringed, wrinkling his nose and looking away from the horrible sight and its wrongness. He hadn't meant to say that out loud, he just hadn't been able to help it. He knew BOTH of them. He knew they'd been friends but...Why were they kissing? Did they...love each other or something? What had he missed? He was sort of happy he hadn't eaten yet, cause the sight made him feel a little sick.
Jake had heard about cooties, and he still didn't know if they were real or not. Some people seemed to think they were, and other people didn't. He hugged girls all the time though and he had never felt sick. He still thought maybe the cooties thing was just made up to scare kids. It was hard to say since he'd NEVER kissed a girl and he never would. It didn't really matter either way. He did believe in germs, he KNEW those existed, and now both Jack and Willow probably had a million.
Now Willow looked upset, Alan stepped in (good...an older kid...) and Mildred threw Chicken right at Jack looking as angry as Willow. Jake had no idea what was going on. None of it made sense. There was only one explanation that he could think of.
"Maybe...maybe we should take Jack to the hospital wing," Jake said urgently to his older bunk buddy, tugging his sleeve. "I...I think he maybe had a bad potion." This could be an emergency.
