Percival raced down the halls of the castle. His shoes hit the stone with loud slaps as he hurried his way to his class. Usually, Percival had no problems with being on time. Though it seemed like today would not be like any other day.
It had started out with Percival sleeping in. Which was probably caused by him staying up late to finish his homework. Procrastination had taken its course once again, and he did not remember to do it till the clock already read 12:50 am. Percival's day had also been ruined by the disappearance of his wand.
Percival had made up in his mind that he would go back to his dorm to find his wand after breakfast. He had been starving and the thought of missing breakfast did not sit well with him. Even though he had quickly walked back to his dorm he was still cutting it close. It had taken him nearly fifteen minutes to find the stupid wand. Now he was here trying to get to class on time.
Honestly, he should have just accepted the fact that he would not get breakfast. It would have saved him from being late to his classes. Percival sighed slowing down even further as he ran out of energy.

That morning Lydia was feeling particularly relaxed; the night before she had done a face mask and had used a couple of the "spa" section of her dorm, and once she had woken up she felt more reinvigorated than ever. She had lazily eaten her breakfast and then started walking towards her first class of the day.
As she made her way to class, Lydia let her mind wander and think about how many amazing people she had met since her arrival at the school. Between Freya, Aaron, Willow, Euphaustus and Rafael (and of course all the other kids) she still had to meet someone that wasn't kind and friendly. Maybe it was a really Hufflepuff thing to think, but she couldn't help but being happy about that.
Lydia was now walking down one of the many corridors of the school, students walking in every direction as they made their way to class, a loud buzzing of voices all around her; outside the sun was already up, and she hoped that the nice weather would have lasted for the whole day, or at least long enough for her to go on a little walk by the lake.
All of a sudden, her attention got caught by a Slytherin boy with blonde hair that had clearly just been run-in, and was now slowing down. Unable to stop herself from worrying, like the true Hufflepuff that she was, Lydia walked up to him and offered him a polite smile.
"Are you okay?" she asked him.

Percival had not realized he had fallen until he was splayed out on his back. Blinking Percival pulled himself up into a sitting position and noted how his head slightly throbbed from his fall.
Looking up he watched as the offender walked away as if nothing happened. Percival was very annoyed that the other student didn't even apologize for knocking him over. It made him want to scream insults after the retreating figure. Things that would make his Uncle proud and his Mother upset. Percival bit his tongue to keep himself from speaking, not wanting a stray teacher to overhear him.
Percival hoped that no one had seen his tragic tumble, but it seemed like luck was not on his side. As he heard another one speak up to ask if he was alright. The boy glanced over to see a girl with long blonde hair smiling at him. Does she think this is funny? he thought in an accusing tone. Percival pulled himself up from his position on the floor. "I'm fine." he snapped before he wiped the dust off of his robe.
Embarrassment seemed to creep about him as he went to pick up his fallen books. Luckily, Percival had only been carrying a couple of books in hand. Which made the process of picking them up easier. He glanced up to see that the girl was a Hufflepuff, and that she probably thought she needed to baby him for a small fall. "Why are you still here?" he asked confused why his attitude had not scared away the girl yet. Taking a closer look at the girl made him notice that she was about the same age as him.

From where she was standing, Lydia imagined that the fall must have hurt a little, so when she reached the boy she awkwardly bit her bottom lip, her face still with a half smile on it. The smile though got replaced by surprise, as the boy snapped at her.
Lydia had always been pretty friendly with everyone, even back in her muggle school, and sometimes it would happen that her friendly smile would get misunderstood.
She awkwardly scratched her head, and almost reached down to help the Slytherin boy pick up his books, but it looked like he had already done so himself. His next words made the red headed girl frown a little bit, making her wary. There was no need to be rude, she had only wanted to help him, after all.
"Well, because I thought you might have needed a hand. Whoever run into you didn't bother stopping to help you, so I figured I could have done that," she said, her voice a little harsher than normal.
"I'm Lydia, Lydia Cooper," the girl introduced herself, as she tried to be polite. Even though they hadn't met in the best of ways, she still wanted to give this boy the benefit of the doubt, thinking that if someone would have run her over like that, she would have been pissed and upset as well. "Were you going to class? Do you need a hand with your books?" she asked him, trying to be helpful.

When Percival had been picking himself up he had been ignoring the red-haired girl. Though with a quick glance up he realized she now looked a little awkward. A part of him scolded himself for being so rude upfront, but it didn't take much for him to swallow down that feeling.
"Yeah I noticed." he said looking towards where the other student had disappeared off to. He wished he knew some offensive spells to shoot at the rude student. Alas he didn't know of any and it was a little against the rules to do so.
Percival grew slightly awkward as he slowly realized that Lydia had just wanted to help him. Percival's gaze glanced back towards the girl as she introduced herself. Still feeling a little bad, Percival felt inclined to share his own name. "My name's Percival Rainwood." He stated looking away slightly from Lydia.
The boy could not help but give Lydia a strange look as she asked him if he had been going to class. Seeing how every student was heading to their first class, it was a little strange for her to wonder whether or not he had been on his way to class. "I was on my way to Potions before I got...well got stopped." he said glancing at Lydia. Percival bit the inside of his cheek before speaking, "I can carry them. They aren't heavy." he said holding the books slightly closer to his chest.
Suddenly, Percival remembered why he had been running to class. He had wanted to be on time for Potions, seeing how the teacher did not like students being late. Percival quickly glanced at his watch to see that he was indeed late. With a defeated sigh he turned towards Lydia. "Um where is your next class?" he asked. "If we walk together we can explain why we're late." he added quickly.

Lydia followed Percival’s eyes in the direction of where the other students had run off to, and she mentally shook her head. That was really not nice of them, to leave someone on the ground after having knocked them over; if they would have been in a car, this would have totally been a case of hit and run.
“Nice to meet you Percival!” Lydia said cheerfully, as she gave the other boy a smile, all signs of her being hostile completely gone. She then realised that her question about whether he was going to class or not might have sounded strange, but she knew that some people had free periods sometimes, so she just didn’t want to assume that he was going to class.
“Oh, that makes sense! We can totally walk together, potion is my first class of the day as well!” She said with a small smile and started walking in the direction of the class. “I really like it as a subject, even though I have some problems with the actual practice part. I’m quite good at remembering stuff, but there’s something about brewing potions that makes me feel slightly nervous! On the other hand, I love Charms! What about you?” She asked him, curious to know what his favourite subjects were.

Percival was slightly surprised at the other's change in attitude. Though he was glad that she had not taken his aggressive attitude too personally. The Slytherin turned his gaze to look at one of the suits of armor that line the walls. He could almost imagine the castles they protected. Percival wondered why he easily lost his temper. Sometimes he could get wrapped up in his own problems, and it often backfired on an innocent person. It was not an attribute that he was particularly proud of, but he did not have many ways to combat it.
The boy mentally shook his head to bring himself out of his thoughts. Looking back towards Lydia as she cheerfully spoke, he gave her a small smile in return. "It's nice to meet you too." he said almost adding an apology at the end. Though Percival was never the apologetic type, and instead did his best to recuperate the girl's kindness.
Percival was a little surprised that the girl was also in Potions. He had not realized that she had been in the same class as him, but it was possible he had just overlooked her before. "Ah cool. I didn't realize we had class together." he spoke as he walked down the corridor with her.
"Charms is a good subject. Though I'm not exactly good at it. he said with rubbing the back of his neck. The boy thought for a moment trying to figure out which class he liked the most. "Honestly, my favorite subject is Potions. It makes the most sense to me, but it can be kind of dangerous if you mess up the potion. he said with a grin.

Lydia had always liked meeting new people and making friends; since she was little, she had always been pretty friendly and extrovert when in the right mood, and only rarely she would not befriend someone. Percival's voice was now friendlier towards her, and Lydia felt relieved as she kept her usual, cheerful smile on her face. As they walked towards the potion classroom, Lydia started playing with the friendship bracelet that Aaron had given her the night before, her smile turning softer and somehow warmer.
"It's probably because I usually like to arrive before the class starts, to ask questions and like, make sure that I have everything that I need," Lydia said and shrugged a little, realising that she probably sounded like a bookworm or a swot - even though that was most likely true.
Lydia nodded along Percival's words, before smiling back at him. "I think that's why Potions kind of scares me so much; if I mix the wrong ingredient or I add it at the wrong moment, I could potentially kill someone. But at least I'm getting better at managing my anxiety when it comes to brewing potions, hopefully one day I'll be able to do one without being too worried about it," she said and chuckled a little.
She didn't realise that they were basically in front of the Potion classroom, too immersed in the nice conversation she was having with Percival. "So, are you ready to explain to the Professor why we are slightly late?" she asked with a small smile, kind of friendly teasing the other boy, as she reached for the doorknob. "Hopefully he won't be too upset, after all it wasn't our fault,".
With those last words Lydia gave Percival another smile, before she opened the classroom's door and walked inside, sure that Percival would have followed her.
Lydia walked inside the classroom, leaving the corridors and the thread.

Percival nodded at her explanation. It made sense if he never really noticed her before. Especially, if she got there early.
He on the other hand was the complete opposite. Percival had trouble even making it to class on time. The boy usually showed up right before class started.
It was a I bet he was trying to break. Though proved difficult under the fact that you didn't care for his classes.
Percival nodded as the girl expressed her fears. "Potions can be difficult. Though I do enjoy the subject. he said with a small grin. Potions was one of the few classes he excelled at.
The boys eyes widened as he realized that they had made it to Potions. He guessed that he enjoyed the girl's company more than he had thought. Time has flown by very quickly making the rest of the walk seemed like a matter of seconds.
He chuckled at Lydia's teasing and he gave her a smile back. "As long as you back me up." He said with a grin.
Percival followed the girl inside the classroom. It wasn't hard to tell that the other students were staring at them.
The boy began to plan what he would say to the teacher as the door closed behind the pair.
