Elisa wondered if the boy remembered her, she wasn’t too talkative, she didn’t even look at him in class. She barely caught the sight of people in class. She was still thinking about what had happened before, her eyes wandered around the pool, he did not recognize any of the faces she saw, and eventually met with the spot where she had stood before, she quickly turned to look at Adohiro. Then she heard his reply, what an interesting name, she thought; now that she knew what it meant, Adohiro seemed more interesting.

Now that Elisa had found companion, she was willing to participate in the chicken fight pool game, whatever that meant. She wasn’t sure what to expect from the game, she had never heard of it before, in fact, she rarely spent time in a pool. What a silly name for a game, chicken fight, she could only think about chickens running around, their madness when they attacked each other; however, she wasn’t willing to socialize, nor to speak to anybody else. Therefore, this was her only option, Adohiro seemed nice and maybe she could meet new people. “Sure, I’ll play, could you please tell what the game is about?” she answered softly, trying to sound calm and excited. Her mind was still focusing on the previous events.

@Alan Vanes presented a perfect opportunity for George to regale him with the full story of his heroic rescue of Breana. Preparing with a deep breath, he presented it promptly for the Gryffindor's approval. "She got lifted into the air by her broom so she was hanging off of it like monkey bars, so I flew mine up and I caught her on the back of mine. I brought her back down to the ground and she was fine! Willow was there too, she nearly fell off trying to help Breana, so I was pretty pleased with how well I did." And humble, too. @Willow Anderson might not be pleased with the unflattering mention of her flight ability, but hopefully he continued talking fast enough that Alan would brush it off.

"They're not the wrong treats. If anyone brought an owl, they could have one. Or if they liked the taste of mice, they could have one then, too. Personally, I subsist on a diet of worms and small fruits." And chocolate, as George pulled another little treat out of his bag and ate it. It did have some owl-treat dust on it, but it was so subtle that you could only taste it if you knew it was there. Unfortunately, George knew it was there and thus could taste it, but secretly found it pleasant. He'd grown strangely fond of the taste of meat since October, even forms of it as strange as mouse. George made sure Jake was out of earshot before he continued speaking, not wanting to blow his cover on the Hogsmeade lie. "I'm going! I got all this candy while I was out hunting for your gifts. Sorry if they're not so good - I haven't been saving any of my galleons..."

The boy shrugged helplessly. He hasn't been saving, but he certainly had been spending - candy, a pet, some minor luxuries like a blue feather quill to write in his journal with. He was a writer - he needed some special quill to signify it. While Alan seemed concern with the emotional outburst happening just a few feet from George, the young writer did not even seem to notice it - he looked back when Alan pointed it out, having missed it all. "Don't have a clue," he admitted, though he was curious. "Maybe there was something in the water?"
@Jake Morris finally returned, dressed to swim. Alan, apparently having bought into his excuse about the chocoball, told him it was fine to go in. George wasn't quite as convinced. The boy didn't go get all dressed in his swimsuit so he could come down and stand beside a pool - Jake was going in, and that was that. He just needed a friend there to help push him along.

That would be no problem at all for George to do. Literally and physically. George stepped up beside Jake and reached out under his arms, trying to lift him up and over the edge into the pool. Not too forcefully, but enough to get the point across. "You'll be fine - go swim! Jack's in there, isn't he? He'll help you."

Adohiro would listen to the girl, she seemed like she did not know much about the game. That would be okay and he would glance at her again. He would open his mouth to speak to her. "It is a kind of fighting game. You sit on someone's shoulders and try to push the other person off. It is not too difficult and it's kinda fun. Just make sure your nails aren't long or you can injure someone." He would say and he would glance at her at once again, he had trouble looking at people in the eye. In his culture, it was considered rue to do so if you looked in someone's eye. "If you are good with physical games, then you should be able to win. The lighter person will need to go on the heavier person, though. You can try to go on my shoulders." He certainly was not a weight lifter and he was a bit worried if he could have her rest on his shoulders without her hurting him.  He didn't want to look weak at all nor did he want to look like a sissy or complainer. He was a tad bit worried, to be honest.

Eccentric people, such as the socialites that ran rampant at this event like it was a ritualistic gathering for their breed of human, were thoroughly abstruse. Their validation, it seemed to an outsider’s eye, originated in its purest from the attention of the majority, positive attention nonetheless. Jokes, splashing, this occult jump that was clearly intended to bring harm to bystanders called a cannonball. Years of thought could be devoted to attempting to solve such an intricate puzzle and nothing would turn over, a paradoxical concept that had no true beginning and ending. Persephone wasn’t opposed to being the center of attention; who would be? The difference was the motivation beneath it, the bizarreness of those who talked to people simply to speak with them, no ulterior motives floating under the surface just beyond visibility. That posed the further question: why would they speak to someone without valid rationale? And that posed the problem: there was no rhyme or reason. Conclusions would go around in circles for centuries until someone found the anomaly.

Knowing no sensible deduction would arise from the ashes, Persephone still pondered this while observing all the flies mingle about, like there were corpses nearby to feed upon. Interacting with one another, a chorus of that luring siren’s song, joy that would never spread to its killer. Chasing serotonin in a sense that didn’t involve introducing anarchy where none lived was a race unwinnable. Like pursuing the moon just to touch its surface, childish dreams that the adults knew held no meaning in the real world. Oftentimes, the blonde was sure it was only her swimming in this branch of reality, its rawest form. The only one not following after the unreachable or wishing upon an apathetic universe.

Her pale fingers waved through the pool still, comforting and reminiscent in the way everything would be in an ideal world. The entertainment quality of the water had evaporated for some, shadows of disinterest covering the light in their eyes that once shined intensely, something extremely incomparable to Persephone. The Slytherin cupped her hand, the liquid flowing in then falling out through the ruining gaps upon raising it from the surface. This moment, she knew, was the prime of life, the safe place so often referred to by those who didn’t understand. Those who saw the wheels turning but not the axle behind it. She exhaled quietly, grasping at the water that took no shape.

“There is no safe place.” She whispered, and it was a truth difficult to swallow for those pitiable optimists. ‘Safe places’ were an enigma of psychology. Such foolish mind games wouldn’t prevail when faced with Persephone, the one realist that survived today’s trying time that encouraged happiness. Happiness was the same thing as ignorance.

Aimlessly, the core of the girl’s thoughts wandered back to Burnett’s monologue, spoken so exuberantly yet delivering a message so sinister. Even if the intentions had been pure, the deliverance had been so cunning that seemingly innocent words had struck like a silver blade, thankfully missing the vital organs. Due to the assumed origin of her name, Persephone had familiarized herself with the history of the corresponding goddess, like her parentage and later husband, followed by the minor details of an insignificant mythical life. Kidnapped and forcibly married to Hades, god of the underworld.

Persephone is a living embodiment of youth, beauty, and life, drawing the attention of the king of the dead. He lures Persephone with false promises, appealing to her desires and passions. As soon as she has enough trust in him to approach his lure, he opens the chasms of the underworld and she is seemingly eternally trapped in his grasp.

Isn’t that interesting?

What was actually more riveting than that, at least at the given moment, was the personified goddess of the harvest from Burnett’s point of view. According to the mythology surrounding these gods and goddesses, Persephone’s more well-known mother was this same one, Demeter. With an intoxicating grin capable of replacing the stars in the sky, the demon had announced a certain blonde as Demeter, an unfamiliar girl whose face only was vaguely recognized as someone in passing. A Hufflepuff, based on that swimsuit that warranted no further comment.

He couldn’t have known that.

Their interactions-- witty argument, near-death-experiences, the drawings-- replayed in her head, a catchy melody to a misleadingly jubilant song, hiding ominous lyrics under bright music. Exposure was a nightmare she’d rarely had to face, walking cautiously over fragile eggshells to keep her secrets her own. Evelynn had pulled one out through an idiotic method, grabbed and ripped it away from the safety of seclusion, but that aspect of the girl’s life couldn’t have made its way to the demon. And, beyond even the simplistic parental issues it seemed everyone faced: was it only a remarkable coincidence that his selected Demeter had been a Hufflepuff? It couldn’t have been anything more, impossibility wasn’t a negotiable term.

The snake’s piercing gaze shifted to his last known location, as if she could see the answers on the surface of his appearance, but her heart skipped several beats in response to what was there. The demon, malevolent and conniving in subtle, artful ways, had cracked. Not broken or shattered, but ruptured slightly, hysterical cries and laughs escaping the bottle in which they were held for a presumably long time. What had slipped by her in the wasteful moments she spent thinking? Ruka Tân stood beside the melting boy, as did Demeter, both soft and gentle in ways that perplexed Persy. Like…

They cared.

With a sinking soul, Persephone turned around, eyes blind to the event behind her, but ears still hearing the reassurances and Jack’s dread between them. Tân spoke the most often, benign precautions taken and enviable measures accompanying such. Emerald eyes stared straight ahead, confusion washing over her like an undesirable waterfall. Uncontrollable and part of the natural-- the real-- world. Jack lived there too, maybe. More likely, he was just as delicate as the majority, ego rupturing for a probably unnecessary reason. But the sobs. She’d heard them a million times.

For a moment, she didn’t look when he maneuvered away from his supposed breakdown, throwing it away as an April Fools’ Prank. Perhaps some wouldn’t see through such a transparent fortress, or they were being severely underestimated, but Persephone recognized her own habits when they were presented among others. Suppression, an art form. There were endless reasons this wasn’t believable to Persy: Jack was, by nature, a trickster, thriving in pranks and mayhem. All this created was short-spread panic and confusion. Behind this, his crying had sounded torn, mixed with bizarre giggles. This could’ve been an uneducated assumption, but the blonde guessed he wasn’t that talented an actor.

She only glanced back when he left with Tân, a picture-perfect emotionless look across her face. As their figures grew smaller with distance, the crybaby turned and walked in the other direction.

A whisper fell from her lips as she did, so quiet and out-of-range, it’s not worth mentioning what she said.
Persephone exits the thread.

Well interesting, what a peculiar game. Back home, she wouldn’t be allowed to play such kind of games, even the idea of playing physical games was prohibited. Now that she knew what the game was about, she felt relieved, it sounded exciting; she was sure she would have fun. The boy had offered her to go on her shoulders, she didn’t know if he would resist, but they could try. “Sure, I’ll go on your shoulders.” Elisa looked at the boy, she was content, and she would finally have someone with whom she could interact. During her stay at Hogwarts, she hadn’t made friends, she would spend most of her time reading a nice book, the library had become something primordial to her life, and it had made its way into Elisa’s heart. Sincerely, she had never felt that lonely before, surely she didn’t have too many friends back home, but she had her family.

Hogwarts seemed strange, she had never felt too overwhelmed by faces, nor by new experiences before. She had gone to the party because she thought it was a great opportunity to interact, to get to know people, to make friends. However, she never thought her first interaction with people in the party would be with a boy lying in the ground. Anyways, she was happy to finally socialize and maybe make a friend.

Serena blinked at the boy's explanation. Apparently this pool party was created using a tin can or something and he wanted to do a chicken fight in the pool. She had absolutely no idea what that was - nor why sitting in a tin can was a good idea. "Serena Towers, third year Hufflepuff," She introduced herself in return to the boy she now knew as Adohiro. Her introduction was short and sweet, spending way too many years introducing herself to people at parties. It summarised the important things that he would likely want to know - based entirely on his own choice of words towards her. Serena offered out a hand for a handshake, should the boy wish for one.

"What's a chicken fight?" She asked, still unsure of what it actually was. All she knew about it was that people had to get out of the pool for that and they could get hurt. Always a worrying sign for the third year who had had many experiences of hurting hurt herself or seeing her friends getting hurt.

The boy was approached by a young girl [ELISA] that seemed to be a little anxious. She introduced herself to him, claiming they sat next to each other in class. Serena could not help but smile to herself at the interaction, recalling how shy she was when she was their age. It was sweet and innocent.

He would let @Elisa Teagan get on his shoulders and he would glance at the other girl who also asked the girl, Serena. He would turn to her trying to keep Elisa balanced. “It’s a physical game that’s really fun and hard too. You need to get on another person’s shoulders and try to push someone off while on the shoulders of someone, you can not fall at all or you’ll lose points. I have Elisa on my shoulders right now but we need more people.  I think you might need to ask someone @Serena TowersThe young Slytherin boy would say.  It seemed a few people were interested like the @Grace Mint. He wondered if she would have more room. “Grace do you think you can invite another person so we can have several tea,s? Serena would like to  to play too.  We need a few more teams so everyone can play.” He wondered if any of the other boys would want to participate in the game.  It seemed like most of them didn’t want to. It seemed like Grace knew everyone so maybe she could get a few more people.  Right now it seemed like an uneven amount of people.

Breana lets herself submerge in the pseudo-pool, finding it slightly odd to not have the familiar feel (and taste) of chlorine as she's deep under the pool. She slowly resurfaced, taking a deep breath as she pops up from the waters. Her face was covered by her thick brown hair, her usually tightly curled locks unfurling by the weight of the water. She quickly pushed her hair back (though with her signature hair clip missing), looking over at the boys still outside the pool. "Come on in, you guys!! The water's fine! ... and I think drinkable." She laughed a bit, and then turned her attention to the red-clad guy as he mentioned that he recognized her little tap number.

"Oh! Thanks..." She chuckled softly, a bit of a tint of red forming on her cheeks from the praise, especially when it came from a third year. She never met one personally, so talking to one, and let alone getting praise from one, was a rather big boost for her. "I'm glad you enjoyed it! I had fun doing it... Oh, and I'm Breana, by-the-by." She said, waving to the guy since she's in the pool now and didn't wanna accidentally get him wet.

She raised her eyebrow for a moment as George pulled something else from the bag, but she was a bit too far now to notice what it was. Probably just a misshaped chocoball. Breana beamed in excitement and Jake changed into a more swimming-friendly attire. Unfortunately, her expression turned into an adorable little pout as Jake (At least that's what she heard mid-choking) opted to wait a bit longer before heading in the pool. "Aw, come on, you guys! I bet you can make some good dives!" She coaxed him, just hoping to have someone she knew join in on the fun.

Jake felt a little queasy as he looked up at Alan, but Alan gave him a smile that reassured. He gave a small, slightly pained smile back. At least Alan hadn't got mad at him. Back before he had got his swim suit, he had been scared for a second that maybe he would. Since he didn't know how secret the birthday was and how many people had got invited. Probably a lot had, if Jake had, but he couldn't know for sure. If he hadn't been supposed to tell people, maybe somebody could have got their feelings hurt. Maybe Alan would have even taken back his invitation and realized it had been a mistake inviting Jake after all. None of that had happened though, it had all been fine. Alan said that this was going to be fine too, but somehow this reassurance provided less comfort than the smile.

The small girl from before was watching them too. The extra set of eyes only made Jake feel even more unsure. The sounds of kids playing was louder than ever. Jake wanted to tell the girl that he was pretty sure he couldn't make good dives, because he got nervous before jumping. He wanted to tell Alan that he wasn't so sure about the whole chocoball thing because he was pretty sure he could feel it in his tummy digesting. Before he could say any of that, he suddenly felt a pair of hands under his arms, and then felt his feet leaving the safety of the ground.

"Wha--h-hey!" Jake protested, wiggling, as he heard George's voice and realized who was attempting to lift him - the one person who had maybe seen the real problem went far beyond cramps. "Heyyyy! Georgie stop lemme go..!" He kicked his legs uselessly in the air, feeling frustratingly small.

But George had only managed to get him up a bit, and since Jake hadn't grabbed onto the edge, his struggling might have ended up with his feet returning down to the ground. Unfortunately for him, one of his other friends inside of the pool had seen the struggling. That was when Jake felt a pair of stronger dripping hands grasp him and saw the grin of Jack Warren.

"Guuuuuuys!" Jake whined uselessly, squirming as he was pulled up and over the edge. He twisted and reached forward blindly, his hands falling onto George's arm, and held on for dear life.

Jake was hovering above the water now, holding George's arm, trying to pull himself back to safety. Jack tugged Jake. Jake tugged too.

It wasnt that Dan was just standing there, He had actually threw off his shirt, left his wand inside it, and climbed in the pool and had begun swimming already. But good god.... there were so many cute guys here.... It had been a lot to take in so unexpectedly. He had to force himself to look away from the cute, shirtless and barefoot boys all around him.

It was then that he noticed some people there that he knew. Opeila was there, and so was Jake. Little, adorable, badger babby Jake. He swam over to him, and smiled.

"Well hello then, Jake. How'r ye doing? Didn't know ye liked pools."

He saw Jack and Some other person he didn't know or care that much about leave. He paid it no mind; The ones who left didn't much concern him. He was there to swim and have fun. Not be concerned about drama between two people that he wasn't even friends with.

He dove underwater, and swam about expertly, secretly pretending that he was an otter, or human with otter powers, effortlessly gliding through the water with unimaginable grace.
He broke the surface again with an enormous smile on his face. God he'd missed swimming.
