April 4, 2020 | After Classes
with @Adohiro Moira.
In one corner of the packed study hall, a slender boy sat quietly with his textbooks opened in front of him and a quill grasped between his lanky pale fingers, jotting down notes into his little notebook. The sounds of light footsteps and other extraneous noise around weren’t a bother to him - being gifted with the ability to focus well.
The scent that surrounded him was petrichor - musky, earthy and somewhat cold, much like the arrival of winter. Though at the same time, they provided him a welcoming and nostalgic touch; it reminded him so much of the six-year-old he once was, and the way he was confined within his family’s manor. And as a child, Klaus’ movements had always been controlled. Down to every posture, mannerism, speech and behaviour. All thanks to his grandmother.
The crowded area didn’t really bother him that much - so long as no one attempted to disturb him from his concentration. He was content enough to have a whole desk to himself, at least for the time being until he may have to give it up to when a prefect or any of the higher year students ask him to.
His brown eyes sharply read through each sentence of the paragraphs of his Charms textbook, looking for the answers to fit into the questions of his homework. His notebook was completely filled with handwriting that looked messy at first glance yet was still readable. Running his fingers through his hair, he turned to his side and dug into the little shoulder bag that he brought along with him. He unhooked the little goblin keychain he had and placed it atop the desk. Readying his wand, he cleared his throat and waved it over the object, following as what was written on the book.
“Spoon-gee-fy!” He spoke in a clear tone, creating a rough s-shape with his wand.
The tip of his dark applewood wand sparked a bit, but it soon dulled out in a very anti-climatic way. He clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth, a little disappointed that he didn’t get it right again for the nth time even when he's tried a couple times earlier in class.
“Espèce d'imbécile.” He mumbled under his breath as he dipped his head into his textbooks once more.

Peux-tu M'aider?
Adohiro wanted to find a quiet place to study after the crazy things going on in the past few days. Ever since April Fools, everyone has been crazy with their childish pranks so he would retreat here to study quietly and hopefully no crazy pranks were here. However, he would see another boy who looked slightly older in terms of appearance. Maybe he too also escaped the craziness going on in Hogwarts? He would watch him for a bit seeing he was practicing his spell. He needed to study more on transfiguration, he kept getting poor grades and he even got a dreadful grade! "Do you need help?" The shy boy asked him. He seemed to be having trouble with the spell. "I believe, I may be wrong but your pronunciation seems a bit off. Sorry I interrupted you." The small shy Asian boy said and he would sit next to the desk near him. "You need to do SPUN-ji-fye." He stated, however, he hoped he didn't come off as rude. He did interrupt him, but he was only trying to help him. Sometimes it was hard to see if people were being helpful or were looking down onto others.

A knot naturally formed itself between the brows of the boy, his left cheek sunk in as he bit onto them from the inside. He concentrated on re-reading the sentences of instructions on how to properly execute the incantation, he wondered what was going wrong until a voice pulled him straight out of focus.
"Do you need help?"
Klaus looked up, almost startled at the sudden voice near him, that was clear even amongst the light noises surrounding them. He blinked his eyes as he listened to the other correcting him, taking note of the colour of the other boy’s tie - another fellow Slytherin.
He looked very young, gifted with a baby face. Yet the type of facial features brought him the same type of familiarity that he’s seen so little of within the palace. Though one thing’s for certain, he must be of the same year.
“Is that right?” He uttered after, showcasing a small smile.
Something in him ticked a bit as the situation struck a small nerve. Klaus never enjoyed being wrong a day in his life. He didn’t like that he’s been spending copious amounts of time just trying to get, what seemed like, a very simple charm.
And to be corrected after that fact doesn’t really reassure him in the way he liked to be.
But he mustn’t let this boy know that.
Klaus readied his wand once more, pointed towards his keychain before taking a deep breath. He repeated the pronunciation that the other boy was telling him in his head once before saying it out loud, “SPUN-ji-fye!” Waving the wand into an S-like shape, it only took a moment to see the little spark fly from the tip of his wand straight onto the object.
Then nothing seemed to happen next until the blonde boy lifted his finger to press onto what seemed to be a solid plastic goblin keychain and the entire object concave from his pressure. His eyes widened a bit, a satisfied grin appearing over his lips. “Enfin…” He mumbled under his breath, relaxing into his seat a bit before looking up at the other.
He nodded his head while a proper smile appeared over his face, “thank you… I don’t know why I’ve been struggling on such a simple spell.” He bashfully said as he scratched the back of his neck in small embarrassment. “I’m Klaus… you are?”

He was certainly worried about correcting the boy, however, he relaxed a bit when he would try the spell. He would watch in anticipation when he would raise his wand and say the way he had taught him to say it. When he saw him lift the charm up, he would see it had a spongy texture and it certainly squished like one! It reminded him of those squishy toy charms in Japan or South Korea. It was a bit amazing and he was happy he had helped the fellow Slytherin. He would see the boy looked a tad bit bashful, but he returned the smile to him.
"I am Adohiro Moira. My name means 'peace within the chaos.'" He would introduce himself and stating what his name meant before people asked what it meant. "I am a first year." He would tell the boy and he cast a glance, studying his wand. He sort of recognized it and he sure he has seen him around the dorms and a few classes. "I have seen you around. Did you also come here to escape the March madness? People keep putting around too many scary pranks and stupid ones too." He let out a soft sigh. It was a bit annoying and he would study the features of him. "You are Korean right?

Klaus looked on at the boy who spoke confidently, stating his full name and its rightful meaning; almost amused by this as he raised his brows slightly. It was definitely exotic compared to what he was more used to from hearing the majority around him. He kept his charming smile, nodding his head to acknowledge the information. “Peace within the chaos? Quite fitting for Slytherin.” He chuckled lightly. “I am a first year as well, now that I look at you a second time, your face is also quite familiar. I think you sit in front of me during Transfiguration.” He noted before tucking his wand away into his sleeve.
The blonde boy listened to the next few sentences, in perfect timing to hear someone let out a small screech right down the corridor followed by a chiding voice and chorus of laughters. “Well, yes. It’s hard for me to concentrate with all the noise going about, and especially having to constantly be on edge just so you don’t set off those silly booby traps laying around.” He couldn’t help but let out another light chuckle, a hand raising to cover his mouth as a sort of politeness. “Though, it does liven up the atmosphere around here. So I can’t really complain.”
He patted down his robe, caressing through the creases that formed from him sitting over a period of time. Klaus’ movements came to a halt shortly upon hearing the question. He looked up at the other, slightly taken aback at what was asked. It wasn’t common for anyone to point out his other race, or over him being mixed-race.
“Oh, uh, yes. I am half-korean… how did you know? You’re the first person to ask me that.” The friendly smile returned to his face. “I’d assume you’re… Japanese? Judging from your name, really. But I feel like you’re also mixed.”

He would blush from the compliment about his name and he would look away. "I-It is fitting? No one ever said that to me before." He would tell the Slytherin boy, not even his older brother who raised him told him that. It sounded a bit strange but he didn't mind it. He would hear Klaus give an introduction, he actually thought he was a bit older based on his appearance. Yes, he did have a sort of a baby-face but he looked a bit scary to Adohiro. "We do sit near each other in transfiguration class. I hate that class a lot." He would say with great passion, he kept getting poor grades from the strict teacher. He soon would hear loud laughter and he would let out a sigh, it sure was giving him a headache. He would see Klaus seemed to be in a good mood about the constant laughter and insane pranks which caused himself to start to giggle. When he inquired about his race, he was a bit surprised he was half Korean. "Are you half caucasian? I assume your mother is probably caucasian. I am half Korean and half Japanese. I have moved between those two countries but I also lived in China for a short period of time when I was young." He said. "Have you been to South Korea?"

Klaus tilted his head to the side as he took note of the male’s distaste with the class. “Do you not like it? I quite find the class to be very interesting. But yes, the professor is quite strict and uptight with how she grades our work.” He said, nodding his head in agreement before scooting over to pat the empty space next to him, offering the other a seat. He also moved his things aside to leave more space. “Uh, yeah, I’m half-french… You make really good assumptions, you know? So yeah, my mother’s french and father’s Korean, born and raised in London though.” He answered as he leaned against the table, leaning his chin on the palm of his hand. “Hm… I’ve never been to any Asian countries, just around Europe so far. But I heard it’s pretty beautiful over that side of the world. I’d like to visit some day.” He said with a smile. “Do you know how to speak those languages? Korean, Japanese and Chinese? I’m not so great at Korean, I’m still learning, though I can understand when spoken to me.”

"No, the teacher grades too harshly, I don't enjoy the class at all." The smaller boy would say and he would see him move his belongings inviting him to sit closer. He would move and sit on the seat glancing at him, studying his features. He heard the compliment he had made good assumptions which he would smile at it. "Well you sort of have a double eyelid and most Asians who had it in Korea were half or they had surgery." Adohiro would say. He then would hear him saying he hadn't been to Asia at all which sounded like a surprise. He must have not had a close bond with his other family members living in Korea or they all lived here. "Yes, I know all three. My Chinese isn't very good and I can't really write in it. I know how to read in like a kindergarten level." He would smiled softly. "I know how to write in Korean and speak it, I can help you study if you want." He told him smiling. "You should really pay a visit to Korea at least. If you ever visit you can stay at my summer house, it's close to Seoul too so more travel opportunities. We have have a house in Jeju Island we stay in at winter since it's much cooler."

Klaus’ gaze was steady, observing how Adohiro studied him up close. The male’s eyes were wide like an innocent toddler - the Vieux-born wondered if the baby-faced contributed to that absolute pure innocence. He also wondered if he was viewing the world so much more different to that of his own.
“Ah, is that so? I didn’t know about that - how surgery was common to get a double eyelid. Usually people don’t assume much because of my hair.” He motioned upwards, blowing off a loose strand of hair that began to tickle his nose.
"I know how to write in Korean and speak it, I can help you study if you want."
“Oh, really? You’d like to help me in my Korean?” He raised his brows, straightening his posture as he tilted his head to the side in thought while he listened. “I’d like to visit sometime in the near future… I believe my father’s travelling back somewhere during the winter… but I’m unsure if I’ll be joining him.” He smiled faintly, almost seeming a little sad but he covered it up with a small chuckle while he looked down. Klaus didn't doubt it - he knew internally that he was feeling envious over the idea, that Adohiro had a much loving family to come home to than he does.
“I have yet to meet my Korean grandparents, though I’d love to.” He examined his fingers, as if taking interest in them as a sort of distraction before looking up at the other. “Sounds lovely. That means you’d be flying back home for the Winter holidays, are you?”

The boy would nod smiling softly when he heard Klaus speak about the double eye lid. "So I assumed you were half and half." He told the boy smiling and he glanced at his blonde hair. It would have been nice to be able to dye his hair in South Korea, but many of the schools had banned any hair color unless it was your natural hair color. "I like your hair though. I wish I had the opportunity to dye my hair." He told him with a smile. "You should join your father, you can bond with him more maybe and you can see more of your own culture. My brother is rich too...maybe we can travel together? I live outside of Seoul." He smiled at Klaus gently. "Yes, I am heading back for the South Korea this winter. I am going to stay in Seoul for a bit then stay a weekend in Jeju Island." He would tell him and he would stretch. He glanced at his new found friend and he would wonder what to say next. "Do you have any other hobbies you like to do? Or anything else interesting about you?" He smiled and he would grin.
