An Encounter and a New Friend pv Kyra Banuelos

Kyra Banuelos has spent so much time trying to be unseen that she felt totally alone in all aspects, but she wanted that to change because the daunting feeling of never having someone to talk with would weigh down heavily upon Kyra. This was a feeling that the young girl had ever since her parents passed away tragically. She wanted to lean on her grandparents for support, but they were nothing like Kyra’s mom and dad. Both grandma and grandpa were strict when it came to Kyra because they wanted to live the life of a pure-blood, not the life her parents had planned, but the complete opposite.

The day seemed to drag on, but Kyra clung the school’s notebook against their chest, while walking through the crowded halls of Hogwarts. Kyra kept her head downward while walking so that she wouldn’t be noticed by others who wanted to waste her time. She had no interest in conversation at the moment, the only thing on their mind was drawing in the notebook that she held so closely. But before she could do that, Kyra had to make it to the courtyard where she knew peace would be found. Not because of the location itself, but the sounds and smells that came with that specific area. It was a place close to home for Kyra and that was exactly why she spent hours within the courtyard on a daily basis.

Once inside the courtyard, Kyra cleared a path straight to the fountain, where she finally sat down and let out a sigh of relief. ”Finally.” She whispered under their breath. Kyra quickly pulled out a quill and began to sketch up a picture of a cute dragon, with puffy eyes, and a big belly. She could spend hours here, if it were not for homework and being on the broom racing team. But because of those particular things, Kyra did what she could with the little amount of time she had in the courtyard.

When Kyra finally took a moment to glance at the sketch she made, the young girl noticed that she wasn’t alone at the fountain. She let a faint smile appear for a moment, before Kyra gained the courage to say something. ”Hi! I didn’t think anyone else came here to relax, just me.” Kyra paused for a moment, remembering that she didn’t even introduce herself properly. ”I’m sorry, the name is Kyra Banuelos, third year Slytherin.” She stated in a much more proper tone than when she first spoke.

Cassie hears someone talking to her, the sound comes from a girl, she looks up and sees a Slytherin girl, whose face appears to be familiar to Cassie, but she cannot recall her name. The girl introduces herself to Cassie. She smiles warmly and replies,'Hi Kyra! I am Cassie Jiang, third year Ravenclaw. I think we must have met a few times before in lessons.'

Deep inside, Cassie is indeed an extrovert. Though she seems taciturn in usual days due to stress of studies and being unfamiliar of the new environment after she returns to Hogwarts from a one-year break. Seeing someone is talking to her, and being a bit tired of all the reading, she delightedly talks some more. 'It's such a nice day isn't it. And the courtyard can't be a better place to have a rest!' She takes another deep breath to enjoy the scent of cherry blossoms. 'I never noticed this place before, and it's such a pity I missed the cherry blossoms in the years before.'

She looks at the girl sitting across and sees her painting on her laps. 'Ooh nice drawing!' she exclaimed. 'I assume it is a dragon? By the way, why are you here as well?' she sits straighter and waits for the Slytherin girl to talk
