Manal Smith

His height is average for his age at 4'8. He is brown skinned and has a thin athletic build with a messy modcut which lays covering his forehead and ears. He also wears rounded square glasses even though his eyesight is perfect.

Manal is mostly calm and observant. He mostly stays quiet around people he doesn't know, preferring to listen rather than speak. But, with the people he trusts, his warm and gentle side shows. He becomes relaxed and friendly, enjoying the presence of those close to him.

Manal grew up in london as an only child of a muggle family, being confined to the suburban streets and emptiness of a house surrounded by achievement. His parents had constructed his life around his success, their love being a reward earned through top marks and proper behavior. Every conversation they had were complaints or orders. There were no lazy sundays, no friends over to play, only the quiet company of the books.

By the time he was 10, he had stopped telling them things. It just became easier to keep it to himself, like the time he found a stray cat and fed it for weeks without mentioning as they would've labeled it as a distraction, or one time when he got lost on the way back and figured it out by himself because calling his parents for help would lead to explaining how he got lost in the first place. He slowly but surely learned to rely on himself because of this lifestyle.

This life created a deep, unspoken division between him and his parents. Love was replaced with expectation, and his house started feeling more like a place to prove himself than a home. Manal learned to find enjoyment in his own company, creating a calm and observant personality. His independence became a sheild against the dissapointment he sensed in their eyes.

For Manal, when the letter came, acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, it was like a get out of jail card. The magical world gave him a blank canvas to work on and was a place where his worth wasn't constantly on surveillance. He seized the opportunity without hesitation hoping that he might finally find a place where he truly belonged.

Manal's first instance of magic happened when he was 9 years old. An older boy who made bullying Manal his hobby was chasing him home from the school. A rock hit Manal's back, then another. He kept running, waiting for it to stop. Then came the third throw. But instead of it hitting him, he heard a scream and a loud thud behind him.

He turned around to see the bully lying down, the rocks he threw around him, as if it redirected and hit him instead. The bully stared at him, terrified. Manal just stood there, frozen, he did'nt do anything, did he?

He slowly walked back to his home, not mentioning this to his parents, to anyone. After this incident, the bully never even looked Manals way, terrified of him.
