Small Hall

To enter into the Great Hall, students must walk through the Small Hall. It would be dim lit, only getting brighter the closer to the end of the hall a student went, as well as briefly at the beginning of the short trek. Towards the end of the Hall would be a large, stone fireplace with a large, arched mouth. The inside, where the fire would rage, the walls were red brick, basically resistant to fire. The logs burning would be held by a cast iron rack with a slight dip in it to hold many at once. There would be a ledge to prevent young pupils to stray into the enchanted flames. The mantle of the fireplace would reach higher than any average height person would be able to reach, made of worn, white marble.
On the walls would hang enchanted pictures of witches and wizards who have made an impact in Hogwarts and within the Wizarding World. These inspiring folk chooses to stay in their painting, admiring the castle from their place, but that was no restriction on them being able to move due to perks of magic. These witches and wizards had a vast variety of people, ranging from past headmasters to past heroes. Everyone that was hung in the Small Hall would be memorable, and legendary in the greatest ways. A large, golden-framed portrait of Albus Dumbledore would hang just to the right of the fireplace - its home for life.
What would catch the eye of the beholder the most, though, would be the large chandelier that hung above the fireplace. One made of wood, and candles, it would be lit at all times, providing a light for anyone who would be passing through. The fire(s) in this area, like most area-containing fires, would be enchanted to prevent accidents from occurring. This chandelier would have been hanging for decades now, almost as ancient as the castle itself.
The floors of the Small Hall would be like the majority of flooring in Hogwarts - a collage of stones, but these ones would appear to be slightly bronzer than the rest of the castle, due to the fire’s amber glow. The walls that would be plastered with magical pictures throughout the entire way would be made of oak paneling on the lower half, and grey slabs of stones the rest of the way up, continuing the acoustic sounds from the main entrance of the castle.
To the right of the fireplace would then be a pair of large, wooden alder doors, which would lead into the Great Hall.
