Classroom Informational

The room was large and spacious- or, rather, it would have been had it not been filled to the brim with desks and various other teaching instruments. Its walls were made of a combination of wood and stone, with the door on the left side of the room framed by a dark wooden border. On the opposite end of the room, the walls were taken up almost entirely by massive, curving windows stretching nearly all the way from the floor to the ceiling. The windows looked out onto the grassy hills surrounding Hogwarts, with the Great Lake shining like a giant, dark mirror in the center of them. The view from this particular classroom was angled perfectly to be able to see into the depths of the lake, and it was no secret that this room had had the most Giant Squid sightings out of any other place within the castle.

The front of the room was covered with a massive chalkboard which stretched all the way across the wall, coated in the ashy remains of long-crumbled chalk from corner to corner. In front of the chalkboard sat a wide wooden desk, on which could be seen a manner of odd devices, from a magically extending pointer to a self-replenishing box of spare quills. Walking behind the desk would reveal that its sides were cluttered with about twenty different drawers, at least ten of them magically locked. Their contents would remain a mystery forever, not for lack of effort to try and magic them open on the students' part.

The rest of the room was filled with a number of identical, rickety-looking wooden desks, each paired with two chairs meant for the students that would share the tables in pairs. On each desk was carved a tiny, almost unnoticeable Hogwarts crest, though nobody was really sure why. It wasn't as if the students had forgotten what school they were in and needed the desks to remind them, after all. The desks were arranged in neat rows along the length of the room, with three fitting across the space width-wise and each row extending back by another four tables.

The room was lit by a number of lamps that hung on low chains from the classroom’s ceiling, each throwing light onto the desks below them. The shadows pooled in the corner of the room where the light of the lamps couldn’t reach, but a curious little mystery was still slightly visible in the back left corner of the room. At the bottom of the wall, right above the floor, there was a small inscription carved into the wood. No one quite knew what it was, or how it had gotten itself carved into the wood there. Either way, people stayed speculating on what it meant, if it was a code word or a spell of some sort. Yet unsolved, the inscription remains just one of the many mysteries of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
