Trophy Room Informational

One of the only rooms in Hogwarts to be kept unlocked and accessible around the clock is the Trophy Room. Located on the castle's third floor, behind a heavy iron-grate door, this room is a veritable treasure trove of academic history.

At the centre of the wall opposite the door rises an impressive fireplace, flames often burning low within the hearth to ensure a comfortable temperature that beckons those who come to browse to take their time. Contained within crystal and glass displays to either side and that line the walls floor to ceiling are all manner of memorabilia: from past Quidditch and House Cups, to trophies of academic and service achievement. Upon every inch of the wall are hung various plates, plaques, medals, and even shields that correspond to polished suits of armour. Headmasters, Head Boys and Girls, Prefects, and Quidditch Captains alike may all find their names etched for all eternity.

Whether by the Caretaker, themselves, or the unfortunate few assigned to the arduous task during detention, every one of the pieces is regularly polished until they reflect the warm glow of the hearth fire. Generally speaking, the room is kept bare except for its prized possessions so as not to detract from their importance. Periodically, however, one might find arrangements of flowers, holiday decorations, or other manner of accoutrements placed by students throughout the year. These are, of course, cleaned up regularly to return the room to its default and minimalistic state.

More adventurous and curious students may even discover that this particular niche is more than it initially appears. Although well known to be a portal to the past figuratively, it also serves as a portal hub in a more literal sense. Behind a portrait of the late Hogwarts' Headmaster and author to The Beaters' Bible, Brutus Scrimgeour, lies a hidden passageway to the fourth-floor corridor; as is a second, concealed behind a floor-length mirror used to reveal the details of a particularly intricate suit of armour. Could there perhaps be others as yet undiscovered, as some rumours suggest?
