Girls' Lavatory

The girl's lavatory, first and foremost a refuge from the boys. When the girls want to congregate without intrusion or interruption from the boys, the girl's bathroom is one of the few places bedsides their dormitory that they can effectively congregate. The girl's lavatory is rather outdated in terms of modern muggle facilities there is nothing mechanical installed here and most of the furnishings look to be at least a few decades old. Still, the lavatory has indoor pluming and the space is clean and well-kept due to the fastidious effort of the House Elves.

Pushing open the door to the bathroom magically enchanted to only allow girls ingress, one sees a simple bathroom with grey stone walls like the rest of the castle as well an ivory colored tile floor. The lavatories being the only rooms in Hogwarts that use tile. The room for the most part utilitarian and for good reason - children often find isolated spaces such as this to cause mischief. In this case they would see fifteen standard stalls made of oak on their right. On their left, fifteen limestone wall-mounted sinks. Above the sinks, a pair of copper faucets with two knobs- one for warm and one for cold. The warm does not get particularly hot, however the cold had a rather icy quality. Above these faucets, hung on the stone wall is a large silver-colored metal framed mirror. Against the far back wall, a quartet of high windows that allowed a sliver of light in, however they were too high to look out of for anyone shorter than part-giant, the sill being six feet off the ground.

The room itself is chilly most of the year, even in the cooler months. The vaulted ceilings are about fifteen feet high, most of the heat is trapped near the ceiling. There is also no fireplace in either of the lavatories, the only heat this room receives is the little it gets from the rest of the castle. A welcome feeling for some that find the fires too stuffy, but for those that run cold-blood this has been a perennial complaint of some.

Relevant Scents: The room does not smell bad generally, although like any bathroom it has its unfortunate moments. A bowl of cedar chips in the back of the bathroom which are supplied and replaced by the house elves on a weekly basis serve as a sort of potpourri.

Relevant Sounds: There is the occasional rattle or groan from aged pipes. The walls are thick so little sound is heard from the corridors. There is of course the usual mundane chatter that takes place in the bathroom proper.
