HEADMASTER'S OFFICE

Beyond a beaked gargoyle and up a spiral staircase waits the headmaster's office. Its mighty door, bedecked with intricate carvings of soaring gryphons, is seldom closed. Rather, the occupant's open-door policy presents itself in a literal fashion, and the gargoyle's password is well-known throughout the school. The circular room beyond is brimming with wonder and whimsy. Upon entering, one would find themselves facing an imposing desk. Timepieces tick, odd gadgets gleam, and a plethora of papers occupy its surface in a state of organized chaos. A broad leather chair is pushed up to its edge. Like the majority of this room's furniture, the decorative desk is carved from rich mahogany, potentially passed down through generations of leaders. The lavish set doesn't suit the adventurous armor-clad headmaster. A busy man who hardly has the time (or interest) for redecorating, Lear's reputation as a slayer of dangerous beasts is better seen in several curiosities about the office. A series of swords and armor stands gleam around the room. Coupled with claws in cases, fangs in frames, these mementos could be valiant trophies or grim reminders of another life.

On the leftmost curve of the office stands a grand stone hearth. Crackling merrily in the cooler months, it is fed and swept clean of ash by diligent house elves. Occupying the majority of the room's right side are towering bookcases, their shelves bowing with weight and age, a broad selection of titles gathered. Cabinets of varying sizes are squeezed against the walls, their contents a mystery. The sorting hat, deceptively still and silent, rests at the top of one behind the desk. Perhaps the most significant element of all is the portraits populating the office. Featuring the faces of Hogwart's previous headmasters and headmistresses, they stand at the ready to advise Lear throughout his term. These are more often than not seen snoozing, or pretending to do so for the sake of covert eavesdropping. Despite their deceptive drowsiness, the office hums with the magnitude of their presence. Each portrait imbued with the wisdom and legacy of its subject.

Important Things to Know About this Forum Area:
 1. I OC approve of mischief as long as it is not being used to OC harass someone, so if you sneak in by all means play a prank.
 2. Breaking into my office would be considered a moderated situation. I am a brutal moderator. That said, you are certainly welcome to do so.
 3. If you want to talk to me, this room would be my haunt essentially. If you want to roleplay with me and do not wish to break in, you can presume I am there and send me an owl. Do not metagame/godmod me, but by all means presume I am there if you are looking for a roleplay.
 4. I can get busy so I might not be the fastest roleplayer ever but I am capable of quality roleplays.
 5. I will not overturn the hat's decision if you wish to change houses. This is both an IC and OC limitation.
 6. I will not change out your character's wand. This is both an IC and OC limitation.
 7. This forum area is for in character interactions. Please do not use this as a means to communicate with me in an OC way, I am both available on Discord as well as via owl. Email (which everyone has in their initial acceptance owls) is another means but by far the slowest since I only check that every few days.
The password to the gargoyle has since been changed by the Head of Houses.
Greg the Mightiest Guardian of Solomon's Office

Solomon does not leave his door locked. The passageway to his stair is "I do not know the password." Yet his office is likely one of the most secure structures in all of Hogwarts. Why you might ask? The Headmaster's Office is guarded mercilessly by Solomon's pet Greg. In fact, by a swarm of Gregs. What is Greg you might ask? Greg is a Pygmy Puff and like the three dozen other Pygmy Puffs in Solomon's office, all of which also are named Greg, they maintain the security of the Headmaster's Office from curious students and small vermin alike.

Hidden in the narrow crevices between books in his bookshelf, those narrow bits of space between the furniture and the floor, these little balls of fluff hide in wait. Whenever a spider or a beetle ambles by, they gobble it up with brutal proficiency. Whenever a deviant student arrives not in the company of the Headmaster, often to steal or destroy something, they are waiting. Like a swarm they attack. Their long, stretchy, sticky tongues would burrow into nasal cavities and ear canals, dig deep into belly buttons and between exposed toes to recover their sticky gems. Once cleaned and liberated of their delicious filth the ne'er do well is often tackled to the floor, forced to submit under the weight of dozens of Pygmy Puffs that remain on the youth until Solomon arrives, often sleeping by the time the traumatized child is recovered.

So enter his office with care and beware!

As requested for a player --

As you enter the office, you are met with a clean and neat environment. The floors are swept clean, all of the wooden surfaces appear to be recently polished to a shine, and every surface looks like it's never been touched. There isn't a speck of dust or grime in sight. The walls are bare and made of stone, and dim light from flickering candles overhead despite the late hour give the space an eerie glow.

But as you look closer, you realize that there are no personal items to be seen. There are no family photos, no souvenirs from vacations, and no trinkets or knick-knacks that would personalize the space. No Gregs. The magical items one would have expected the famed former magizoologist to have procured over the decades were conspicuously absent. The desk is bare, with no papers or files to suggest that anyone has ever worked there. But surely Headmaster Lear has been here, ben here in fact earlier this very day.

It's unsettling, almost like the office is waiting for something or someone, but there's no indication of who or what that might be. There's a strange sense of emptiness that pervades the space, and you can't help but wonder what goes on behind closed doors when the man sits in this now empty seat.

It feels like a place where secrets are kept, where something sinister is being plotted just out of sight. It's a place where you wouldn't want to overstay your welcome, and you can't shake the feeling that you're being watched.
