When Diana reached Diagon Alley, she was amazed by it. It was more crowded and noisy than she had expected it to be. But, she knew she'd be coming back to this place to buy supplies for school and even beyond school. This was Diana's first time in a place like this, even though she's known of the wizarding world her entire life. As she looked around, she noticed that there were shops lined along the street in crooked rows, with every window filled with strange, wonderful, and unique things. Diana wasn't one to shop, but this alley was definitely fascinating to her.

Her parents were a little farther ahead of her, talking about school supplies or whatever, but when Diana got to a shop with cages in the windows, she slowed down. It seemed that she was in front of a pet store, and she could hear soft hoots and rustling feathers that seemed to drift out through the open door. Diana then looked up above her and saw a sign that read Magical Menagerie. Diana's mother, Hannah, turned and saw her daughter standing out front the shop. "Do you want to go inside, sweetie?" Hannah asked gently. Diana nodded and she, followed by her parents, entered the shop.

As they stepped inside, a bell chimed above, and a warm male's voice greeted them with a "Welcome!" Before Diana could admire the inside of the store furthermore, A tall older man with broad shoulders and a slightly round stomach appeared from behind a counter. Wire-framed glasses sat low on his nose, and he wore a checkered flannel shirt tucked into blue jeans. Beside him stood a much shorter woman in a floral dress, smiling kindly. "Well now," the older woman said cheerfully. "looking for an companion for school?" Diana nodded and her mother said, "She'd be starting Hogwarts this year." The woman clasped her hands together happily. “How exciting!” The older woman then left them to looking around.

Inside there were even more cages, and Diana finally noticed the types of pets. There were cats, rats, lizards, snakes, ferrets, fishes, spiders, owls, toads, bunnies, and even some fluffy things shaped as a ball, and a dog. The fluffy balls Diana thought were cute but they were way to expensive, and that was when she made eye contact with one certain pet — a snowy owl — and Diana knew instantly she had found the pet she wanted.

The shopkeeper seemed to know that Diana wanted the snowy owl since he said, “She’s a lovely one,” He then walked over till he was beside Diana who was admiring the golden eyed owl. “Very calm. Observant too.” The snowy owl blinked her golden eyes slowly and Diana asked, "What's her name?" The man chuckled before replying, "Well that's up to you." Diana then began thinking of names as she hesitantly lifted her hand so the owl could see her movements, and it didn't flinch. "Khione, I think I'll name you Khione." Diana said, and to her delight, the owl hooted softly, which meant she likes the name.

“Well then,” the shopkeeper said warmly, “Khione it is.” Beside him, the shorter woman beamed, and Diana didn't even know when she had gotten there. “Looks like she picked you just as much as you picked her.” At the woman's words, Diana smiled faintly, and with the help of her father, Diana was able to pay and carry Khione out the shop. Diana knew she'd be having so much fun with her and her owl, especially at Hogwarts.
