Books Help Us Learn
Bex looked at the huge amount of books in front of her, and sighed. There was no way that she would be able to read all of these books, and she didn't know which one to start with to help her learn about the Wizarding World. She wanted to learn about the wizarding world so that she didn't accidentally offend one of her new classmates with her ignorance.
She was still amazed by the amount of magic in the castle, and desperately wanted to fit in this new world. However, admitting that she needed help has never been one of her strengths. She should just pick a book, take it to a table, and try to understand as much as possible about this new world. There were just so many books, though.
What was one thing that she didn't understand off that she could narrow down the selection? She didn't understand the money system. Bex started looking through the books to try and find a book explaining the money system. After narrowing down her search, she found three books that she could understand explaining Galleons, Sickles, and Knuts in more detail than she might have needed. Instead of going to a table, Bex decided to sit down at the shelf so she could find a book when something she didn't understand popped up.
As she was reading, Bex was horrified that the author kept referring to the bank tellers as goblins. Surely they couldn't be awful enough that they deserved to be called nasty names! After a quick search through the other two books she chosen to explain the currency, she saw they referred to the tellers of Gringotts as goblins too. Bex searched the shelves for a book about Gringotts to get to the bottom of this mystery.
Once she had selected two books about Gringotts, she went back to her pile and started reading again. She was embarrassed when she realized that Gringotts was operated by actual goblins, but she was glad that she discovered this from a book instead of a conversation. Then Bex noticed that the book mentioned vaults being guarded by dragons. Surely dragons weren't actually real!
After finding a few books on dragons, which were most definitely real, she hopped up to find a book explaining something else she didn't understand. This pattern kept repeating itself until Bex was surrounded by a small mountain of books. She was very upset that once she got a handle on something shocking about the Wizarding World, she was met with an even more shocking revelation. She put her face in her hands, and took a few calming breaths before she started to cry out of frustration. Or worse, chuck a book when it revealed a new shocking fact.
