If anyone would’ve told Maira Anderson that being at Hogwarts contained a lot more homework than she’d bargained for, she wouldn’t have believed you. But to her dismay, in the last few weeks after the Christmas break the sheer amount of additional work the professors put on the first years was threatening to overwhelm her. Luckily, her dorm mate Cash usually was too grumpy to bother her too much. And so when she returned from the library that Saturday near the end of the morning, she was very much looking forward to just lounging on her bed and listening to Cash potentially play a little bit of the guitar.

Alas, it was not to be. As soon as she opened the door, an usually chipper Cash was already getting up towards her. “Oh, thank Merlin, you're back!" Maira only had time to blink, and quickly put her books on the bed before Cash continued. “Well, come on then, don't just stand there like a buffoon. Let's explore the castle. It is Saturday for Merlin's sake.” Ofcourse Maira could’ve told the sixth year off, but it was very rare for Cash to want to do anything at all so instead of complaining she put on her brightest smile and simply let them guide her towards the Great Lake.

Before that day, Maira also would’ve assumed that of all yearly traditions Cash would be least likely to enjoy anything romantic. It just didn’t seem to be their thing. Yet somehow, the roses and set-ups near the Lake seemed to be exactly what her dorm mate wanted. “Would you like to…” Maira started, but before she’d fully finished her sentence Cash had already made quick use of some of the desserts and grabbed themself a chamomile tea. “Alright, guess that’s a yes!” But Cash was already on their way to the next spot.

Maira quickly followed Cash up to the canopy and observed how they made themselves comfortable in front of her. “Don't just stand there, grab something and come sit with me.” Maira again tried her biggest smile.
“Aye aye, captain!” She looked back at the desserts and went with a simply brownie, some whipped cream and a few cookies and cream. She thought she’d seen Cash already grab some frosting for decorating and figured that would be enough, but added a little bit of the sparkles she could find. To top it off, she completed her order with a black tea that almost resembled coffee in its color. Anything to get a little bit of extra energy.

Putting her stuff near Cash’s she promptly sat down as well, stretching out her muscles. “So, we all know I am too young to sit here with anyone else but you… But who’ll be your Valentine this year?” She wiggled her eyebrows at Cash. “And most importantly, will that cookie you’re about to decorate become theirs, mine or ours?” Because obviously, Maira would get at least one bite, right? “But just so you know, I am absolutely giving you one of my two cookies and it’s getting additional glitter.” Maira figured she’d also try to place the frosting in the shape of a guitar on top. But not having learned any particular cooking spell just yet, it would need to be her own creative style. She only hoped Cash would love it. And potentially actually show one of those rare genuine smiles at her again.

Skylar walks into the courtyard and cannot help but let out a little ‘woah’ at the breathtaking sight. There were elegant rose petals scattered around the ground and lit candles that offer a warm, inviting glow. The sweet smelling atmosphere and the light music playing in the background gives Skylar a warm feeling inside. Many students, and even staff, were already roaming around the courtyard. Some were enjoying the time with their friends, some were shyly holding hands, and some were dancing together to a tune only they could hear.

But Skylar, despite her desire for a fantasy-like love story, is not here for the romantic atmosphere. People come and go, relationships start and end. One thing that always stays constant in Skylar’s life is — food. That’s right. Skylar makes a beeline straight towards the plates and plates of delicious pastries on the various tables.

The sweet smelling aroma of sugar and tea fill the air as Skylar nears the tables. Several people were decorating cookies and many looked like they were having the time of their lives. Skylar weaves around the crowds and even steals a little bit of frosting to taste. Cookies, cookies, and even more cookies. Sugar cookies, heart-shaped cookies, and chocolate chip cookies. Skylar grabs a plate and loads up on the sweets. She wonders if she could bring some to her dorm. Probably not. She does not want any visits from ants or rats anytime soon.

With her assortment of cookies, Skylar makes her way to the decorating table. Deciding to unleash her creative talent, Skylar begins to decorate. She does not know how long she has been decorating, but she made at least eight incredibly detailed cookies. Most likely even more, given that she ate as she went. Skylar feels very proud of one that was this beautiful sunset over the courtyard. Despite being limited to only frosting and sugar, she was still able to make a pretty convincing sunset and a few dollops of red frosting for the roses.

For the rest of the night, Skylar enjoys her pastries and cookies with a side of tea. It was really nice, especially with the music playing in the background. Skylar watches as people dance around each other, enjoying the happy atmosphere despite not dancing herself. Seeing others so joyful was enough to make her smile. She cleans up her plates and heads back to the castle. She hums to herself as she goes back to her dorms. She thinks of all the happy couples and the fun they were having. Maybe, just maybe, that could be her someday, too.

The boy paused as he heard the question, belatedly realizing she was still sitting by him. Glancing up to her, his silvery eyes certainly held no welcoming gleam, but he didn't seem mad either. Really it was a tad hard to tell what the boy was feeling, he seemed to have a rather limited range of facial expressions. He didn't seem to bother trying to hid his sketch even after being reminded that she was there though. "I'm sketching... eagle-lion, those creatures, with too many different spellings of its name," he attempted to explain, probably failing miserably while doing so. Not that he really cared.

The fact that he had even decided to answer was enough progress to satisfy him for the day. Having his train of thought distracted by... social niceties, wasn't really something he was fond of. Glancing over at his cookies he huffed lightly, they suddenly looked rather unappetizing. "I mostly draw magical creatures," he added on belatedly, leaning to the side as he rested his cheek on his fist and crossed his other leg. After having scrawled more frustrated commentary on the drawing rather then actually finishing it, he decided to give up on the endeavor for now, flipping instead to an unfinished sketch of a sea serpent and deciding to continue the grueling task of drawing scales instead.

The day had been rather boring, all things considered. No classes, since it was a Saturday, and no desire to do her much needed DADA homework. A rose petal trail was far more exciting than one would assume, and a much needed reprieve from mind-numbing languor. Alas, she was used to being bored, so it wasn't too hard to find something worthy of occupying her mind. Cookies galore had been just that.

Quite the delight it was, indeed, to be approached. A wide-eyed look of surprise crossed her face, being shocked from her reverie. Delightful as it was, Graci's imaginings were never as spontaneous as she wished. Her lips formed a smile, starkly contrasting the other's frown. "Why, yes, it does seem as though everyone has a partner. Would you care to sit?" Graci's voice was polite, the usual bit of oddly contented demeanor slipping through. This girl, Estella, as she now announced herself, would likely have sat anyway, but it sat better with Graci to see it as an invitation. As opposed to a rude intrusion, that was.

"Oh yes, I'm Graci," she wanted to add that it was wonderful to see her, but it felt a bit overkill. The persistent feeling of wondering if she would be perceived as weird was back. It never seemed to leave. Regardless, Estella seemed quite... well, Graci didn't entirely know. Troublesome, for one, but that could have just been a figment of her imagination. She was pretty, too, albeit a little boisterous in all manners, which Graci would appreciate. Ah! That's what it was. The glint in her eyes when she had first smiled. Inviting, though what was on the receiving end of that invitation would probably land Estella and multiple other people into detention. So was the allure of rebellion.

Graci looked back to her cookie for a moment, piping soft whorls and a thin border. Pretty, in theory, but heavily lacking in the execution department. She touched a hand to her earring. The wind and movement of the day had a habit of dislodging her earrings, so she had adopted the habit of checking in retaliation. A light sort of sheepish embarrassment crinkled the sides of her eyes. Though it was likely just the smile. There hadn't been much excitement to smile about in the past few weeks, so Graci took the joy when she could get it. Winter always made her grumpy anyways.

Adjusting her jumper she looked back up at Estella. The other girl had seemed so at ease, simply coming up to her and saying hi. Graci, of course, did that often enough, but never with such ease or confidence in herself. Note to self: be more like Estella.

"QUOTE OR SONG LYRIC HERE"

For a while. The first year, just stood there like an animated statue until Cash told her what to do. “Aye aye, captain!”Maira said to the Sixth year. Afterward, Cash did not took noticed where Maira headed until the young girl dumping her loot next to what the Quidditch player had grabbed upon entering the premises.

“So, we all know I am too young to sit here with anyone else but you… But who’ll be your Valentine this year?”The baby snake asked as she wiggled her eyebrow at the older student. Cash had to mid-pause their cookies dcorating to turn their head and look at the young girl in her eyes.

"Would you like to know"Cash said mischievously and let out a playful wink at the girl. At this point, Cash had used to Anderson's nosy personality. And it was bizarre how odd traits in people amused them. Maira Anderson reminded the former Slytherin Beater much of Starlee Kennedy.

Oftentimes, Cash wondered about that once bubbly and sunshine personified whom Cash dared to say was their sister. Not by blood but by choice. “And most importantly, will that cookie you’re about to decorate become theirs, mine, or ours?”Maira continuen. Cash forgot how chatty their dormmate is.

"Ours," Cash said shortly. "To be honest, Anderson, the last time I dated someone it was some ancient ago. Don't ask for further information on what happened. I won't tell you even if you ask me"Cash added. It was true. The last time that Cash had dated someone was back when they were in their Third year, and it was, to say the least, a beautiful, tragic romance that Cash had ever experienced.

“But just so you know, I am absolutely giving you one of my two cookies, and it’s getting additional glitter.”The girl blabbed on. Cash tried to hide their appalled expression but failed miserably. "In what Bloody Baron's name people put glitter on their cookies? But if you aimed to make the cookies like Tinkerbell had vomited on it, I won't stop you, "Cash half protested, half amused.

In between the Slytherin chatting and decorating cookies, Cash didn't realize the sun had dipped into the horizon. The golden hour had gone, and now the night sky above their head was somewhat beautiful with stars scattered here and there. Cash let out a rare laugh when Maira said something utterly ridiculous, but then their laugh died on their lips when another figure entered the white sheer canopy where both Cash and Maira occupied.

"Oh, it's you,"Cash said monotonously to the boy. There was something about the boy that Cash could not pinpointed their finger on. Ever since Cash had met the other first year on the Hogwarts Express, the Cloud Cobras Second-String Keeper could not shake the feeling that the boy had kind of a stalkerish tendencies.

They had heard from the grapevine, but Cash was capable of taking care of themselves. Seventeen-year-olds had proved them. The boy didn't say anything and just sat right in front of the young Ironwoods. "Stalker much?"Cash uttered sarcastically. Cash used to be followed around, and the boy's presence did not affect him much, just a tad bit, if Cas was being honest.

The last person who had joined the gang was much more of a familiar face and figure. Ebony Vetra. Cash and Ebony had faced each other many times during Quidditch matches, and recently they had a somewhat nice conversation in the train bound for Hogwarts at the opening school term of this year.

"Hey Cash," she greeted in an attempt at casual conversation, "I don't know if you remember me, but, ah... can I sit here with you guys?" There was hesitation that Cash could detect in Vetra's voice, but at least Cash will be surrounded by familiar faces and figures.

"¡Claro está! Tome asiento, por favor Of course! Please have a seat"The older girl uttered in Spanish out of habit. Cash patted the extra space beside them just in case Ebony didn't understand any Spanish. "The more the merrier"They switched back to English as Cash continued to decorate cookies #04 out of the 6 that they had grabbed earlier.

The Chamomile tea that Cash had poured had gone cold now, but Cash didn't mind it for one bit at all.

Sora was told by a girl that he was a stalker. He replied, "Yea, for sure I'm a stalker, hehehehehe, hihihihi, while rubbing his hands, and said just kidding" in a mischievous way. The girl was confused and made a disgusting face. Sora was intrigued by her. Sora sat up straight and tapped to her right shoulder. The girl said "What's up?". Sora then greeted her and said "Yo, What's up", in a cool and nonchalant way. The air was awkward. 3 minutes passed by, and he introduced her with incomplete information. Sora learned her name is Cash. Sora heard that Cash speaking Spanish and Sora saw Cash with somebody else. Sora was amazed that there were people all over the world that attended this event. Sora saw that Cash was decorating some cookies. Sora asked her, "May I help you decorate some cookies?" Cash went silent. Sora then got another cookie and decorated them, then Sora got some fresh batched tea, poured the tea in the cup, sipped the tea, dipped the cookie that was decorated in the cup, and eating it while sipping the tea. Sora has 2 decorated cookies left. He is confused on whether to give it to someone or just eat it. Sora gave the 2 decorated cookies to Cash.

Laasya looked up while placing her cookie aside. There was a girl, her age, with long, blue hair, standing nearby her table. She had asked Laasya whether she knew her or not. Laasya tried to recall all her moments where she had seen a girl with blue hair. In the History of Magic classroom? In the Hogwarts Express? Laasya thought as she grabbed another cookie and invited the girl to sit with her, whoever she may be. And then it finally occurred to her, the girl was Julia Evans, a first year like Laasya and the host of the band auditions that took place nearly a month ago, on the 27th of January. "I know you, you're Julia Evans right?" Replied Laasya as she grabbed so more decorations for her next cookie, she was determined to make at least another one before the tea party ended. "I'll make you a cookie."

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●❤︎●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

She examined the plain, heart-shaped cookie and then examined the supplies. What could she make for Julia? Then it occurred to her. Julia's hair was dyed a really pretty shade of blue that would make Laasya's nosy aunt complain about how trends these days were ruining kids, while letting her own daughter scroll on social media 24/7. So, Laasya decided to make her a blue themed cookie. First, she took a sip of her tea, which had luckily cooled down a bit, making it nice and warm. Then she took a bit of light-blue frosting and spread it over the cookie while being careful now to spill any on the tablecloth. After that was done, she took some white sprinkles and added them on to the cookie a little at a time. Then she put the sprinkles down and admired her cookies. One of them was pink with a white flower on it, while the other was blue. She gave the blue cookie while saying, "Hope you have a great Valentine's Day!"

A more senseful creature would have cowered under the intensity of the brunette's gaze, ocean eyes glaring daggers at her poor, sweet, innocent figure, and if she hadn't known him better she would have sworn it carried underlying threats, or promises of a certain destruction. Yet for one, the blonde was certainly not one to get intimidated by someone younger than her, and secondly, Camille appeared physically unable to refuse her anything, which she intended to use at her advantage.

A unique thread, filled with promises of frantic runs under the dipping sun, or dives in the tumultuous ocean, one woven with juvenile promises and childish love linked them. Though distance and unwritten words had tarnished this connection, it had not shrunk nor faltered, and despite the years remained stronger than the relentless cycle of tides. Despite her disapproval of the bitter human he had grown into, she could not deny she appreciated his sulken mood, precisely because whenever a hint of the laughter she had once wished to bottle, whenever a smile curved the edge of her lips, it felt a greater reward than anything she might wish for. On his part, he as well appreciated teasing and banter, which more than often creased her forehead into a frown, the sight of which made him smile even brighter.

Victorious, the raven was happily wiggling on her chair, eyeing with great interest the array of frosting and sprinkles laid before them. Handing a white frosting-paper-thingy to her grumpy brunette, as per his request, she on her part stole a sky-coloured one, as well as a yellow one, with the intention of reminiscing a particularly dear moment. Biting her lower lip in concentration, she delicately posed a first layer of frost, glancing upward as he muttered something through clenched teeth. "Hmm?" It took her a few seconds to process the information, as she was deeply lost in a fundamental hesitation between two shades of blue.

Unfortunately for both, the moon child was blissfully oblivious to the underlying implications of the frenchman's question, as to her romantic love and friendly love were two neighbour kingdoms with extremely blurry borders. Care united them, and Elena cared for quite a lot of souls, and harder than most. Camille was one of them. Which is why upon being faced with the ambiguous term of 'rendez-vous', she understood it for its literal sense, 'an arranged meeting between two or more persons', and not what the brunette seem to imply. "It is!" She grinned, effortlessly switching between their two common languages. "J'ai pensé que cela pourrait t'adoucir, de décorer de délicieux cookies."

Her expression faltered at his next remark, and a worried frown creased her forehead. "Oh, I sort of panicked and picked the first chairs I could find. We can still move, if you want t-"

Two arms and an inhuman force wrapped themselves around her torso, making her entire body tense from the unexpected human contact. It took a second to recognise the ever-so characteristic scent of energised sweetness lingering in the air, a flavor of electric raspberry paired with exploding firework. "Nova," she breathed, a relieved smile blooming as her shoulders relaxed. The fiery redhead released her, before presenting her with a navy cookie, decorated with stars and a- a stick figure? laying in the middle. "Aw," she giggled, glancing back towards her friend with a delighted smile. "Thank you so much, I adore it."

Valentine’s Day was one of the holidays either vilely loathed or simply tolerated by her demographic; single, mid-teenage girls. Guinevere fell into the latter. She enjoyed how the occasion incited cute and dainty decorations around the school, as well as the pink and red themed treats. As for the “season of love,” she didn’t find that the month of February made her any more boy-crazy or romantic.
It was the evening of the festivity, and while passing through her house’s common room, she had heard mutterings about a certain tea party out in front of the lake:
Are you going with anybody to the tea party?” one voice asked. Guinevere couldn’t make out the face, as the dark green light from the lake washed out every color in the Slytherin dungeon. Recently, the reds and pinks of Valentines were especially dull, which she didn't mind either.
Oh, I started talking with this boy a couple weeks ago, I’ll see if he’s going,” the second disembodied voice replied. “What about you?
The first girl responded something about coming along.
At this point, Guinevere was already debating going, and decided to make an appearance (this is where everyone gasps; as of late, she had been a creature of solitude).
Guinevere made her way across the common room to her dorm, and unlocked the door, pushing it open with her foot. Making her way to the mirror, she saw that she looked quite disheveled and resolved to put on a new outfit to go to the party, as it would be quite uncouth to show up in the school robes. The only changes to her attire consisted of a clean looking forest green sweater over her usual white blouse, and kicking off her walking shoes, she put on a pair of black heels. Despite going just to get food, she preferred looking as much not alike a scavenger as she could. She took a paper bag from her trunk and put it in her bag. This would be for collecting dinner, and maybe if she was lucky, her midnight snack as well.
Her heels clacked on her way to the main hall. Seeing nothing too abnormal there, she supposed all the festivities were solely outdoors. Thankfully, the shoes weren’t too tall, and could be safely walked around in.
The grounds were already packed when she arrived. There were so many students that at once, she feared that all the better foods were already finished. Thankfully, as she stepped closer to the cluster of tables, she could see that the refreshments were as complete as ever, likely due to a charm of some sort. Quaint little teacups and teapots sat scattered across the tables, but Guin walked past them, since the caffeine at this time of evening would make her unable to sleep. Anyways, the assortment of foods before her interested her much more than the tea.
She picked up a decorated plate, taking a pastry from one tray and a cookie from the next. She continued until her plate was piled two layers high, ignoring the looks, either real or imagined, from the others present. Taking it, she found a quieter, secluded-ish area where she sat down, though not planning to stay for long. She sampled some desserts, taking small nibbles so that she had plenty to save. She noticed that some students were decorating their own cookies, which only seemed fun to her in theory, or perhaps if she had company. Either way, it had been a nice evening. She collected her things and went on with her way back to the castle.

Frosting still unused in hand, Camille sighed, tilting his head towards the blonde who was quickly engrossed with her own cookies and blue frosting. The two of them seemed to have different ideas of what a date was supposed to be; in Camille’s mind—granted, he had never been on a date before—decorating cookies was not the problem per se, but the fact that they were seated among other students when he’d expected privacy. Her words and grin said one thing, that this was in fact a date, while her actions were contradictory. It was still considerate of her to ask him at all, he supposed. Or more accurate: drag him out on false pretences before he could reject the idea.

If given the chance to move tables, Camille would have eagerly changed seats, if someone hadn’t wrapped their arms around his date just then. Likely as inconvenient as the sudden intrusion was to both Elena and him, judging by her tense body, his gaze traced the arms up to the girl they belonged to, bewilderment crossing his face. A flamboyant, over-excited sort had joined them, one Camille did not recognize and he would have requested to leave, if Elena hadn’t lit up in a familiar smile and greeted her as a friend. The redhead bore gifts in the shape of a heart covered in navy frosting with white stars and a stick figure in the middle. The French boy gave the design a subtle, unimpressed side-glance. Sweet, he supposed, but not the most ambitious of projects. Given their relationship, he kept his mouth shut, nor was he addressed, but mentally reminded himself that this was the reason he disliked the concept.

The girl turned her attention to him, for a moment startling him, wondering if he was caught passing judgement. It would not have been the first time, though he rather not cause an awkward scene on their presumed date. Another cookie in the same color was extended to him. Eyebrows raised, Camille reluctantly accepted it, gaze lowering to evaluate the design. He had obviously not expected masterpieces, yet the drawing that supposedly resembled him was bordering on insulting; not only a far cry from his visuals, but seemingly an elaborate attempt at mockery. His eyes narrowed at the cookie. The hair was messy, though he could give her grace considering the difficult medium they had to work with. What really grated on him was the cross-eyed expression on the stick figure's face. Not to mention the tongue sticking out, an infantilized expression that he’d never practised, and would never cross his face at this age.

Glancing at Elena's own cookie, normal-eyed, the difference was unmistakable. Was this stranger trying to infuriate him, and for what reason? Skeptical, Camille glanced at the redhead. There seemed to be no thoughts behind those eyes and affectionate expression, yet he would not allow himself to be fooled just because she seemed innocent. He was not grateful for the cookie, but the only polite thing was to say thank you.
