Classes were done for the week, leading into the weekend with the sweet relief of no tests looming on the horizon. The sky was overcast, a blanket of gray accompanied by a chilly breeze, creating the perfect atmosphere to curl up in scarves and winter robes, evoking a sense of coziness.

The day had been going so exceptionally well that Isa found herself drifting into a light doze during her last class. Perhaps it was due to her strategic positioning behind fellow try-hard students that provided a blissful shield from the professor's sharp gaze. Everything seemed just right for a delightful afternoon.

As she made her way to the library, Isa had initially intended merely to collect useful books for Charms. It was quite an out-of-the-blue decision, especially considering that academics were the least of her concerns in recent years. Isa couldn’t really pinpoint when exactly this change in focus had begun. Was it the afternoon’s cozy atmosphere, which felt almost serendipitous, playing with her mind? Or could it have been the peace and quiet the library offered? Afterall, who in their right minds would interrupt an intimidating looking girl like her? Whatever the reason, it felt refreshing.

Indeed, the atmosphere in the corridors was soothing, echoing with soft footsteps and the distant laughter of students enjoying their post-class freedom. The late afternoon lull signaled that the Great Hall would soon fill with the chatter of hungry students.

Feeling an impulsive urge to be productive, her hazel hues flicked from one table to the next, searching for the perfect spot to settle down. Most seats weren’t really occupied, but being the fussy pureblood she was, Isa would not settle for less. Finally, the girl spotted a small table nestled between two towering stacks, the fading sunlight filtering through the tall windows and enveloping the corner in a golden glow. Humming, she settled into the seat, her blonde hair spilling into her eyes as she poured over "Basic Hexes for the Busy and Vexed."

petty arguments kirara
It was Friday. Hence, Kirara was studying. The cause and effect was simple: it was no different than any other day of the week. The Ravenclaw had paid attention in class. Her notebook, currently tucked under her arm, had at least a page of handwritten notes for each period of the day.

Still, she lacked context. There were references, theories, legends that, apparently, all wizarding children knew. Kira did not. She had entered the magical world just over six months prior. That was insufficient time to catch up on a magical childhood that she had... missed?

Kira was unsure of the word. She hadn't missed anything that she could have possibly had. Her situation was not unique and, in every case, the school handled it similarly.

Such logic did not affect her frustration. Kirara could be doing other things but, instead, she had to work doubly as hard to keep up with her schoolwork. ("Keeping up" was an understatement. Kirara had to be far ahead on her schoolwork or else she was failing. As made sense.)

Standing between two bookshelves, Kira's eyes darted upwards. The textbook, sandwiched next to her notebook, had all the "necessary information." In other words, it was insufficiently precise. She required a supplementary text.

Hence, nearly ten minutes prior, Kira had abandoned her very comfortable, dare she say ideal, library corner in search of this hypothetical supplementary text. She had not found it. The young witch, deep in concentration, had circled several shelves. Nothing she could reach seemed useful.

With a resigned sigh, the Ravenclaw returned to her seat. She returned to what she believed to be her seat. In actuality, it had been reclaimed. A girl, seemingly of a similar age, sat there reading a copy of Basic Hexes for the Busy and Vexed.

There were plenty of other seats open, yes, but she had been there first. It only seemed fair for her to reclaim her optimal spot or at least ask.

Kira took a deep breath in, approaching the girl with a soft voice. "Hi. So, I was sitting there just a few minutes ago. My stuff is right there." She eyed a book bag that sat, discarded next to the chair. A gray quill poked out the top along with a copy of Magical Theory. It was easy enough not to have noticed as it blended in with the flooring.
