Hope this post is ok! feel free to emote any time! The weather once icy cold was finally warming up as spring lingered in the air as much as enjoying. Outdoors seemed appealing; it was still rather chilly.
It has been a busy week at Hogwarts as usual from the bustling students running to their classes, doing extra-curricular activities or even studying. During this busy week, Alan was fortunate enough to get a free period towards the end of the day, giving him an early mark to wind down and relax as most of his homework was complete. Making his way to the library, he found that the room was quiet with the occasional mutters of students who were also on a free period. The young lad decided to go for some light reading as although Alan favoured potions class, the Ravenclaw was undoubtedly lagging behind a little in the previous lesson. Wanting to come back fresh he went to the shelves pulled out a couple of potions books as well as his textbook and moved to a table nearby out of the eyes of many it was enough to fit at least two people.
Taking a seat and dropping his rucksack nearby, which was incredibly rugged-looking with tears and holes in most places, it was pretty obvious why due to how jammed packed of heavy books that were within it. Setting up a small space for himself the books stacked neatly in a pile he took out the potions textbook opening it to sift through the pages looking where the lesson took off last time and work from there. Alan took a moment to stretch before going back to casually reading through the various potions that were listed describing it's properties and what it does, in particular, the Black Fires potion which intrigued the young lad.
From his rugged rucksack, a notebook seemed to fall out without him realising it was opened to various hand-drawn drawings of creatures both mystical and non-mystical with one looking somewhat cartoony in design. In particular, a turtle with an orange bandana and nunchucks who was also riding a skateboard would stand out from the rest of the doodles.

With free period just starting for the little witch, Breana went down her usual route from the classrooms to stop by to her usual spots whenever her free time rolls around-- the Library. She already has a plan on what to do that day. On one of her previous visits, she saw the 2nd Year Potions book, complete with notes from the current Professor in Potions in Hogwarts. It was the perfect opportunity for her to get some advanced reading before she graduates soon. Since it's been a couple of months since she's stayed in Hogwarts, she's slowly getting in tune to where everything is and how to get there (though there were a few close calls from the moving stairs in her first months).@Alan Noble
She closed her eyes as she walked inside the now familiar Hogwarts Library, taking the the smell of the library slowly. Then she quickly walked up to where she last spot the book, her face turning into a surprised expression as she saw not the book, but a lone empty spot on the shelf. She sighed to herself. "Figured someone took the book..." Breana slumped her shoulders, turning away to find a different book instead. Suddenly she stopped in her tracks, her eyes caught a glimpse of that missing book. It was in the hands of a boy with dark hair. She saw him mostly around the Ravenclaw Commons Room, but that's the closest she's interacted with him. A higher year, she figured as much, and judging from the book she wanted, must be a 2nd year to be precise. Breana swallowed. Sure, she's gotten used to the first years around her, but that's where it stops. The most she's interacted with a senior is Gris, and even then that was an accident. Still, it's better to be prepared than to regret.
Huffing to herself, she walked up to the fellow Ravenclaw. Just as she was about to speak to him, she noticed a notebook on the floor. Figuring out it must be his, since he's the only one on that table, she picked it up to give to him. "Uh... excuse me...?" She said softly. Breana looked down at the book, noticing the doodle that was in the notebook. "Oh! Teenage Mutant--" She said loudly, almost forgetting that she was in the Library. She stopped herself before she continued. "... N-ninja Turtles..." She finished softly. She cleared her throat. "E-er, is it yours? It was just on the floor when I saw it, s-so..."

Deeply engrossed into the potions book Alan was reading through, the young lad had parchment laid out jotting down some notes as he read through it. The handwriting wasn't neat, of course, as he was simultaneously reading and writing. Still, it was legible to make out that it was his own way of brewing the Black Fires potion his little personal element for himself as a form of experimentation. Alan was always so fascinated with potions class as it allowed his mind to wander and brought something new every time he attended. A new lesson meant a new potion, a new brew, meant more experimenting to see which worked and what did not. Looking over the notepad, he barely could read his own scribbles at this point which caused the young lad to grunt but shrugged dismissively muttering "I'll figure this one out later". Alan went back to thoroughly reading through the textbook, enjoying the contents laid before him, the young lad was unaware of the footsteps that were approaching the desk he was in.
Before he realised it the boy was startled by the notebook with his drawings out on display, looking up, he was quick to snatch a little embarrassed as his cheeks turned slightly red as he stuttered "I-I-I umm Y-Yes that's mine t-thank y-yo-". Before Alan could finish his sentence; however, he was cut off by the first year Ravenclaw Breana as she shouted startling the young lad a little more but made him feel calm and less shy about his doodles.
Alan, a few eager now opened up the book so the First Year could get a closer look of his drawings flicking through to a page showing four anthropomorphic turtles wielding ninja weapons and wearing coloured bandanas. The doodle was pretty well detailed as he responded with a little grin on his face"S-So you like the turtles? t-they are my favourite" He points towards the one with the orange bandana and nunchucks "He's the one I like the most who's yours?" Feeling that he was impolite thoughts in his mind lingered towards his Mum saying in his mind "Ask if she wants to sit Al!" Shaking his head, Alan gestured his right hand towards the chair opposite him "U-um want to sit down? I-I'm Alan by the way. Alan Noble" The Ravenclaw felt he was never good at introductions offering an anxious smile while trying to maintain some level of eye contact.

She blinked in surprise as the boy quickly swiped the notebook from her hands. Breana didn't take offense to the action as it makes sense since it looked like a personal notebook, especially given the drawing she caught a glimpse of. She looked around, hoping that no one came up to the two of them and thought that they were causing a scene. She let out a sigh of relief before turning back to the boy. "Sorry if I startled ya about it, but it's lucky that I found it when I did, huh?" She grinned softly at him.
Breana tilted her head as she watched the senior flip open the notebook again, her smile growing wider as she saw a team of familiar turtles. "I watched them a lot on the weekends back home." Breana laughed as she remembered how funny the one with the orange bandanna is. "I really like his jokes, but I gotta say I like the blue one the most!" She said, pointing at the blue bandanna'd turtle. "Just 'cause he watches over the others and knows what to do, like a good leader and stuff." She nodded happily, sitting down on the chair across the fellow Ravenclaw. "Oh thanks, Alan! I'm Breana Oliveire." She nodded at him politely, figuring that her new-found friend isn't keen on physical contact just yet. "So did ya doodle all of that? It's super cool if you did!!"

Alan as he was flicking through his notebook for any missing pages he looked back towards the first year offering a nervous yet genuine smile as the young lad stuttered out "I-It is ok y-you were o-o-only trying to help and I t-thank you I r-rather not lose t-this." Alan was quite surprised by Breana's interest in the turtles as he flicked through more pages showing a well-detailed sketch of the four mutants fighting what appears to be a man in purple pyjamas surrounded by multi-coloured ninjas. "I-I-I d-discovered them back when I went to a Mu-Muggle school. I just like how they look." Alan appeared quite anxious though seemingly trying to keep himself together at the same time excited that more people had something in common with the boy. Pushing himself to talk more stuttering less as he continued "Blue like Ravens" Alan continued after snickering at his own terrible joke "Leo is a cool one, but Michael is just so funny I a-agree." Flicking over some more it showed a drawing of the turtles riding what appears to be Hippogriffs though more crudely drawn and less detailed.
Alan offering the notebook for Breana to peer through he said, showing off a grin"N-Nice to meet a-another Ravenclaw d-do you want to sit down?" Upon being asked if he drew the doodles, he nodded "I-It's what I do in my spare time when I-I'm homework free" the young lad chuckled to himself lightly "I-I never seen you around before thought-this place is s-so big it's easy to miss people. s-sometimes I end up losing my friends, though Gris usually knows where to find me." Alan seemed to ramble for a bit becoming more open and relaxed clearly as the conversation kept going, The Librarian earlier, of course, lurked around the vast shelves due to the loud noise earlier.

She nodded to the senior, listening to him as he mentioned muggle school. "Never attended muggle school." She shrugged casually. Breana's heard of people that's been home-schooled before, and she's not keeping it a secret that her family is in a bit of the poor side of the streets anyways."Dad home-schooled me 'til I was 7, and that's when Mom took over the home-schooling for me." She showed an almost melancholic smile towards Alan. She's still grateful for them, but she knew that they've had to make a few budget cuts to give her the most of what one can get from a home-schooled education.
Breana then grinned wide as the focus when back to the half-shelled heroes. "Oh! I didn't think of it in that way..." She giggled happily. Breana's eyes gleamed in delight as she saw more sketches of the cartoon-y turtles. Even if they weren't as detailed as they were on the TV show, she was still impressed that someone can even doodle them that well. She blinked at Alan, surprised that he would offer the doodle book to her. "A-ah, r-really...?" She smiled, taking the book, slowly flipping from one sketch to the next. "I usually got my books to fill up my free time, but I do the occasional stick man every now and then..." She grinned, closing the notebook and giving it back to Alan.
Breana looked around the library, curious of its size as well. He is right about it. Even though she's been living in Hogwarts for most of the year by now, Breana would have the occasional misstep with the moving stairs every now and then. Then her ears perked up when he mentioned a familiar name. "Gris? Oh, you know Gris? She's in the Gryffindor house, right?" Her face beaming in excitement. Any friend of Gris's is instantly good on Breana's book.
She then had a sort of light bulb moment as she asked him about her older friend. "Hey, Alan...? Can I uh, ask you for a favor...?" She asked, her excitement now exchanged for timidity. "If it isn't too much trouble, a-and if you're not busy and all that... Can you teach me how to draw?" She asked. "A-and it's 'cause-- Well, there's this boy-- I-i mean, schoolmate! Schoolmate, and he told me that I was a good drawer-- drawer?? Erm, sketch... person... and I wanna... well, I wanna impress him more on drawing and stuff!" She rambled off to Alan. She rarely asked for favors, even more so when it's with a person she barely just met. Still, he knows Gris, and even calling her a friend. Maybe he can lend a hand to this poor Ravenclaw?

Sorry if it doesn't seem up to par! just getting back into the rhythm of writing!Alan was not to surprise to hear that Breana never went to a muggle school as it was a mix on who came to Hogwarts in the first place. Alan had some primary schooling from his parents but due to their regular work schedule used the muggle school as a place to watch their child. Alan though intrigued to hear of Breana's experience the second year replied: "Heh least you got to see your parents, my folks always were working so it was hard to find time to spend with them, always found myself at my Nans after classes." Alan seeing that smile the first year was expressing reminded of the young lad of his mother having usually missed essential things in his life always apologising with that sort of smile which left the young lad in deep thought for a moment.
Luckily the subject didn't dwell too much when the topic went back to the turtles. Wanting to engage more with this supposed new friend Alan took a moment as the girl was flicking through his notebook had a graphic novel of the ninja turtles and placing it on the table. "I know of a potion that can make the pictures move...was hoping I can find out the ingredients to make this even more graphic? I think that's the word." Alan seemed a little less stuttery as the conversation carried on feeling at ease with his fellow peer as their mutual taste for terrapin creatures seemed to make him forget all around him. Hearing that Breana was an exceptional stick man artist, Alan couldn't help but chuckle lightly "Now I was once a stick artist myself there is no shame in that heh." Moving his notebook towards the side.
Upon mentioning of his friend Griseldis, the senior smiled confidently "Yeah I know here, she's one of the first people I met at Hogwarts on the train, we've been friends ever since, always looked out for each other". Alan looked up into the ceiling then back down gazing Breana in the eyes "Actually she's helped me out more than anyone...first one to stick around and be there heh." Alan reminisced of the times he and Gris got into a few situations only for him to finish off "She's a great person wouldn't as for a better friend I must say"
Alan went back to doodling for a short moment flicking through his pages one would notice for a brief moment. As the young lad flicked through a certain drawing one with distinct buns for hair and a familiar curly-haired boy not in great detail, of course, sharing what appears to be desserts with a little inscription 'Best Friends'. As brief as the moment was, Alansnapped back to reality when Breana asked him for a favour, slapping the book closed he replied a little less confident but he couldn't turn down helping someone "You want me to teach? I-I-I mean I-I don't think I'm that g-great b-but I can certainly try i-if you l-like."
Alan was mostly unaware of why Breana was a little nervous though he couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to the request, the young lad shook his head."If it's to impress your friend, then it's no problem, I'll help you" Seeing the girl rambling he gently took her hand and smiled "I understand I feel nervous sometimes too when I make something for Gris...it's hard, but it's always the thought that counts right?" Alan gazed into the first year's eyes maintaining a calm, warm smile in an attempt to reassure her that it was ok "Now I'm always in here or the lake heck even in the standard common." Alan realising he was touching Breana's hand nervously pulls away "I have a good feeling about you so...I'll help you Gris is usually a good judge if she knows you."

She nodded intently, her hands on her lap as she listened to Alan's side of his school life. "It must be nice though... getting that proper school life and all... And you gots your Nan to look after you, right?" Breana said, smiling. "My mom didn't have any job to keep her busy... She gave up the wizarding stuff, plus Hogwarts doesn't really cater to the witches and wizards that would choose the muggle life, so..." She shrugged. She doesn't fully know what her mother felt, intentionally shutting down the world she knew to go back to the one she was born with, so Breana can only tell Alan what she knew.
Her eyes almost sparkled at the idea of animating the cartoons. All the movement of the technology-heavy gif, right there in the simplicity of sketchy paper? She makes a note of checking out the graphic novels section of that Flourish bookshop in Diagon Alley to see if it's a normal technique. "That'd be so cool! I never thought about that photography potion can also work for drawings too... " She said with wonder, her fingers lightly touching one of Alan's doodles. She giggled at Alan's response. "I know, I know..." She placed her head on her fist, pouting her lips a bit. "I just wish I can do what you do, y'know? I mean, I don't got any plans on making a comic book or anything like that, but just a quick good doodle every now and then would be great..." She sighed, shaking her head.
She smiled wide as the conversation turned to them talking about their mutual friend, Gris. "Yep, that does sound like her..." She looked down at the notebook again, letting out a soft "Aww" as Breana caught a glimpse of Alan's doodle of what she can deduce is him and Gris. As she was about to open up a conversation about it, Alan quickly snapped it close as quick as she saw the drawing. "Oh... You will?" Breana beamed, quickly jumping up and hugging Alan like a kid getting what she wanted for Christmas. "Thank you thank you thank youuuuu!!" She squealed, quickly clearing her throat and lowering her voice as she remembered they're in the library. She put her hands together, practically jumping in glee. "Thanks so much..." She said in her now hushed tone. "O-oh, can we do the teaching thing in the common room? I don't wanna disturb other people that just wanna read and stuff..." She said, sitting back down on her chair.

Alan reminiscences about his previous school life, remembering how awful the experience was save for a few moments. Alan often thought about times he was bullied, to the times he was able to show up the perpetrators who have picked on him. Looking across towards Breana as she said her piece about at least getting a proper school life. Alan never really thought about it that way as he assumed the first year envied his early childhood. Not wanting to deter the girl with his past experiences Alan replied: "It was, though for what it was worth I didn't have the best experience during my school life, some days I wished I didn't go at times. Some people can be awful, you know?" Alan gazed upon Breana a look of pain in his eyes covered by a smile. "My Nan has always been there for me, from the first day of muggle school to now honestly I see her more often than my own parents heh" Alan was quite intrigued to hear about the first year's mother curious as to why she gave up her life as a wizard. However, through the conversation, the young lad understood why seeing as his parents are struggling despite their education. The second-year nodded " I know that I agree with you there, for all my parent's hard work; they struggle as no support comes their way, is why they work every day."
Alan was glad the conversation shifted away from their family life at home he liked to forget about the struggle his family is living on the day-to-day wanting to do better and help them by focusing on his studies. The young lad was excited to see how eager our rather enthusiastic about the thought of animating the comic book as he said with a grin. "It's a theory but do hope it works it'll make reading these much more lively than they already are heh." Alan, of course, understood how Breana felt wanting to be decent right away. The young lad pondered back to remember how terrible he was during the dodge ball class being targeted every so often back in muggle school after years of being hit the boy gradually grew better at evading. "Neither do I, but I get it, you get better as you go," Alan said once he snapped out of his thoughts.
Alan flicking through the pages to the very first showing off a scribbled sketch which was mostly illegible to see with the small label which read 'Master Splinter.' "Honestly I was terrible but" He placed his hand onto the table leaning in a little closer "Anyone can do it so long as you got a drive or just want to let your mind wander and as my Nan says a good meal tends to help drive your mind to think" He offered a genuine smile towards Breana.
After a brief conversation about his friend Gris and offering his services to teach Breana to draw. Alan was caught by surprise by the sudden clinging sensation from the arms of Breana wrapping her arms around him in a hug feeling a little suffocated as he whispered patting her back with one hand as he still felt a bit shocked "Yeah, yeah I can help...hugs are nice." The Librarian hearing the commotion walked past, holding their finger across their lips and emitted a loud "Shhhhhhhh."
Alan cheeks turning a little red from getting caught agreed to Breana's idea "Maybe you're right, want to go now? I mean I've not much to do here anyway" Alan offered his hand wanting to take it the first years and lead her towards the Common Room.
Regardless if Breana didn't take it or not, he whipped his wand out to help pack his things into the rugged torn rucksack rolling his eyes whispering "Not again". Pointing his wand towards the tears he quietly chanted "Reparo" in that instant his bag repaired itself, slinging it across his back and holding the potions textbook in his hand he was ready to leave " Coming, Breana? " He held out his hand again towards the first year.

Sorry for the wait ;W;
She frowned as she noticed the pained look in Alan's eyes as he explained his experience in the muggle school. "Oh, I'm sorry..." She frowned, looking down. "Well, being the 'homeschooled kid' isn't exactly the best either." Breana said, twiddling her fingers a little. "Don't know that much kids in my neighbourhood..." She sighed, her hands slowly clenching into fists. The children were not so kind to the poor Ravenclaw. After being pulled from her first year at muggle school, the children either didn't have a reason to talk to her, or didn't know how to talk to her because they rarely interact with her."... But I guess it's for the better, huh?" She tried to wring out a smile towards Alan. "I don't have to miss that much people. Just my parents, heh."
She looked back at Alan, listening as he talked about his Nan and his parents. Breana couldn't help but wonder... why couldn't any of her families' parents help them out? Of course, her father's parents live in their home country now, but what about her mother's? Surely they must be still alive. Why can't they contact them?
But then they quickly change the topic back into a lighter note, which was comic books. Her eyes quickly brightened as Alan uttered the word "theory." That meant writing out possibilities. That meant experimenting. The cogs in the freckled child's mind started to whir as she thought of helping Alan out. Can she use that photography potion on a full blown comic? More importantly, can she use a sort of eye-mapping process so that certain parts of the comic move when the person looks at it?Such possible experiments made her wish she can get some free time to test potions on her own. Maybe she can ask the Professor about it...?
As she pulled away from the bear hug she did on Alan, she was surprised that he offered the teachings already. "Oh! No, I can wait a little later." Breana stood up, not taking Alan's hand. She's just felt that if she did, it'd look like she's his daughter, given their height difference. "But I'd be happy to just hang out with you in the Commons. I got some jelly bean that we can taste up!" She said, walking alongside her senior.
Breana has left the library/thread along with Alan.
