Zephyr honestly thought Bree might punch him the second her feet hit the ground, and he somehow braced himself for that. When she spun around with her fists clenched, he kept his hands up to shield himself from anything that the girl might do to him. He saw the anger in her face, but also something else, she looked exhausted. Hearing her laughter that was full of sarcasm, he just shrugged and let it be. Fair enough.

He overhear her muttering curses, and he almost smiled; he probably deserved that. The good news is, at least she was still talking to him. In the end, she agreed to do the activity with him, but afterwards, she wanted him to leave her alone, and he responded with a nod almost immediately. “Deal,” and she stormed off to an empty space, whilst he followed at a normal pace. If the students were looking, he didn't pay any heed; instead, he grabbed two plain heart-shaped cookies on the way and sat across from her. She dropped into her chair and crossed her arms again. He set one cookie in front of her.

Her words came out sharp, but Zephyr was not affected. He knew her anger was not really for him, but for whatever was bothering her. He couldn't fault her for feeling upset, and he was trying not to add to it, though, as you can see, he's failing. But...he would still try. “I don’t think you want to decorate a cookie,” he said simply as if stating the obvious. “I think you don’t want to stand alone in a cold hallway pretending you’re fine.” He pushed the cookie a little closer to her. “This activity is not depressing, Bree. Come on, give it a try.”

He grabbed a piping bag filled with red icing and squeezed... Too hard than intended, and a thick blob of icing exploded onto the centre of the cookie. He froze. “…That’s not what I meant to do.” He tried to spread it with the tip of the bag, but it only made it worse. The heart shape was gone. It now looked like a red puddle. He glanced at her, raising an eyebrow. “Don’t judge me.” He picked up white icing and attempted to write something over the red mess. The first letter looked like a melted worm. He looked closer at it. “This was supposed to be a heart, now it looks like a tomato that’s been through something.” While working on his masterpiece, which, by the way, he's only doing a good mess, he was looking at her from time to time to check what she was doing. He's supposed to be good at this decorating stuff, but was distracted by the feisty girl across from him.

“Also, before you say it, I’m not going to ask what’s wrong. You said it doesn’t matter, so I’m respecting that. But if you start crying because of my icing skills, that would hurt.” It's more like a disaster cookie with a modern art twist. He grabbed a jar of sprinkles and showered them confidently over his cookie. He brushed a few sprinkles away from her side of the table with his hand and pushed the jar toward her. “Your turn, impress me." And then he reached for another cookie and started decorating again, having all the time in the world.

Speech -- Thoughts

Pam wondered what language the boy had replied to her in. Da wasn't a familiar word, although Pam could easily guess it meant something along the lines of "Sure" or "Okay".

She nodded her thanks in response and got back to her cookies. The colored icing lay waiting for her on the table top, and she started out with one, decorating it with pink icing, forming an intricate bundle of roses, and a red ribbon. Then she picked up the second one and drew a similar set of tulips and ribbons in blue and white.

Finally, unable to stop herself further, she glanced up at the boy across her.

He'd shifted one leg over the other, and sat silently drawing away on his book. The stranger had not spared Pam a second glance and she found herself watching him curiously, wondering what he was drawing, if it was good, and if she could see. Considering the attention and care he seemed to be putting into his work, Pam had to suppose he was good at it.

She wondered if she'd be able to catch a glance if she attempted to peak. But that would be really rude, especially if she got caught in the process.

She wasn't really sure how to open another conversation when he'd very clearly ended the previous one. But Pam could definitely try, even if it did backfire miserably.

And knowing Pam's luck it probably would.

Well here goes nothing.

She leaned over and spoke softly, "What... what are you drawing?"

When Harumi woke up that day, a small realisation crept into her mind, it's Valentine's day, is that a bad thing? No, but Harumi knew existing in this day is embarrassing, she didn't really care about love yet, it's like she's in a video game, but didn't get that achievement called "love" yet, or at least the romantic part of it, it is greyed out for now, but apparently she's around the age you start getting that achievement, she's not exactly a teenager yet, but she's certainly getting there.

----when picking her outfit for today, she thought that everyone is certainly going to wear red, pink and everything in between, and wearing other colours would make her stand out, so she carefully chose something neutral, Black jeans and shoes, and a pink sweater, it doesn't scream "valentine's day", or at least she hoped so, but it is suitable enough.

----And thus, her day went on, mainly observing people and trying not to look lonely, she was glad to see not everyone is walking in twos, that would have made her much more awkward, being alone and everything, she wasn't alone because she wanted to, she just felt that it would be awkward being with friends on a day meant for lovers, or maybe she just overthunk her every step today, it's probably that actually.

----By sunset, Harumi was passing by the bulletin board when she noticed so many rose petals on the floor, she looked at the bulletin board to notice a red and pink note smelling of perfume, it seemed there was a Valentin themed tea party near the great lake, Harumi loved tea and lakes, but the fact that it's Valentin themed made her hesitant, but well, tea always wins!

----And that's how she ended up following the Rose petals to the edge of the great lake, there she found many already there, some alone, some together, Harumi chose an empty table, and sat there, there was so many desserts as well as plain heart shaped cookies, Harumi guessed they're supposed to decorate it and give it to someone, or just eat it, if anyone knows Harumi, they'd know she'd definitely eat the cookie, because she absolutely hates showing her real feelings, assuming she liked someone, which she doesn't for now.

----Harumi drank tea and ate some of the desserts infront of her, and gazed at the lake, which looked really beautiful in her opinion, she had decided to first think about how she'll decorate the cookie before starting, why was she thinking so hard about if you ask? Because she thinks hard about everything, obviously she wasn't planning to give it to anyone, or was she?

----Finally abandoning the tea, Harumi picked lavender frosting and light blue frosting, she frosted each half of the cookie with one of frosting colors, and added sprinkles in the end, simple but beautiful, perhaps if we read more into it, we could deduce that in Harumi's opinion that's how love should be, whether platonic or romantic, it should be simple but meaningful.

Jack was not pleased.

He had asked Hanako what his birthday was some time back when they had first started rooming together during their 6th year. But this year, Jack had discovered something new. The birthday Hanako had told him was probably false.

He had found out by accident when he had been a fox in their dorm room, playing with Salami under Hanako's bed when he discovered that Hanako had been reading a letter he had gotten. Concerned that Hanako might have received a letter to meet some person and make out with them in secret, he quietly snuck over as a fox and read over Hanako's shoulder the contents of the letter.

It was from another Slytherin they both knew; Bridget Collins. In the letter, there was no talk of meeting up to make out, but there was mention of Hanako's birthdate and her not being certain of it. There was also the mention that Hanako had given her different dates every time she had asked and that she suspected it was on either Valentine's Day or April Fool's Day.

At first, Jack wasn't sure how to feel about the information. As he processed it, however, he realized he wasn't surprised. Of course Hanako would have kept his birthday secret. He was very secretive when it came to personal stuff like that. But had he really had to lie about it?

He still wasn't sure, though. Maybe Hanako had really given him the real date and Bridget's guesses were the ones that were off. Jack was determined to find out.

So he decided to suggest to Hanako that they make cookies at an event for Valentine's Day, thinking all the while about how to confirm whether or not Valentine's Day was the true date or some other day was. Hanako was none too happy about it...but Jack still couldn't have been certain as to why.

" Are you suuuuuree this is a good idea for us to be here?" his peer had asked skeptically. " Well you know what happened last time we went to a valentines tea party like this, didn't you? Let me recal… the laced cupcakes.. cu sith's meltdown.. the fire .. me wanting to make out with you.. oh god you even kissed someone right?" The gasp that followed was a little too dramatic to pass for being authentic.

Jack rolled his eyes. "Yes, but it was on accident," he reminded his roommate. "Besides, who are you to act like kisses mean anything to you?"

. This was utterly ridiculous. The precious pureblood heir of the Flores family was dateless yet again. In her two years at Hogwarts, with her mesmerising beauty (or at least that’s what she liked to believe), Isabella Flores had somehow failed to attract even a tad of romantic interest. Sure, she had her fair share of hallway crushes, but absolutely none had the decency to notice her. Talk about shallow. It was almost absurd, really. How could they not see the perfection standing right before them?

Isabella huffed in frustration, trying to dismiss the thought with an elegant toss of her caramel locks. She donned an air of entitlement as she followed the trail of rose petals down to the lower grounds, adorned with frills and bows dancing gently in the breeze. The vibrant pink and red decorations clashed with her mood, but she continued forward regardless. Tables of all sizes and shapes were draped in delicate white and pink tablecloths, each one hosting a mouthwatering array of sugary delights. Her hazel hues lit up as she imagined the flavors dancing on her tongue, but surely, this display was far from healthy.

Despite the guilt, Isa couldn't help but be drawn in by the intoxicating scent of sweet treats mixed with roses. She gingerly took a seat at one of the larger tables away from the snogging bunch, eyeing the neat rows of plain, heart-shaped cookies. Isa Flores was, in truth, spectacularly bad at anything that required actual effort - the house elves could literally do anything and everything - but she preferred to believe her natural flair compensated for that minor flaw. With a determined look in her eyes, the girl grabbed a cookie and piping from the pile, ready to make her mark. If not in romance, then at least in sugary artistry.

Isa fiddled with the piping bag for a second, before squeezing it with all the talent she could muster. Delicately, she squeezed the icing along the contours of the heart, casually licking the tip of the bag. It was really sweet. Unlike my valentines day. She scoffed. As the girl filled in more hearts, her mind began to drift away from boys and love interests, lost in the bliss of cookies. Just as the culinary prodigy was about to add the last flourish, a blob of icing squirted out unexpectedly, leaving a lopsided trail. The audacity of the icing. With a dramatic eye-roll, the girl covered the mistake with an array of brightly colored sprinkles.

“It's called abstract art,” She declared, addressing no one in particular. Looking very pleased with herself, the young snake slid it next to her teacup as a token of her questionable but nonetheless entertaining baking skills, all while imagining the sweet taste as it melts on her tongue.

Who in this world didn't know about Valentine's Day? Day of Love, they said. People around the world celebrated the day, including the students at Hogwarts. Zach heard excitement squeak here and there, even some days before the day happened. Whispers and gossip scattered everywhere. Some planned how to make the chocolate, some planned how to deliver it. A little bit chaotic, he could say. He wondered if he would be like that in the future. Probably not.

The Ravenclaw was walking around the castle after feeding his pet, Zarcon. His eyes caught something interesting from the bulletin board, an activity announcement! He was excited. He trailed the rose petals that had been scattered by the committee to the Great Lake. The onyx gleamed when he saw it. But it seemed most people were already with their friends. Zach thought hard. He really wanted to attend the event for the snacks, but coming there alone when everyone had already their group would be awkward. He ran towards the castle to look for his own group. His mind already visualised who he should ask to come with him.

He looked for the person anywhere. Quidditch Training Pitch, Courtyard, and Great Hall, but he couldn't find him. If he were in his dorm, Zach would be doomed. The last place he visited was the library. He really hope that he will be there. Dark blonde hair and the lashes behind his glasses. It was him. Zach rushed to stand behind him. He whispered in excitement, "There's a cookie event! Let's go there!!!" He waited for the boy to finish reading and immediately pulled his hand towards the Great Lake.

"Let's go, let's go!" the boy kept pulling the Hufflepuff. He didn't stop talking and giggling on their way to the spot. The Ravenclaw finally could take the cookies without being awkward! "They scattered flower petals to the Great Lake," Zach pointed at them. His hands still didn't release the boy.

Once they were in the event place, Zach exclaimed, "We've arrived!" In front of them were set many tables with floral decorations. Very Valentine, Zach could say. "Let's claim a table!" the boy said with a wide grin. He chose a small table, the nearest to the water. The place was calm enough for them to enjoy the day for themselves. "Cookies!" he pointed out the snack on the table in excitement. "Should we sit here?" he asked.

Until he realised something.

His hand still held the Hufflepuff's hand. "Oh! Sorry! Did I hurt you?" A tang of guilt spread through his face after he released his hand slowly. He felt bad and worried if he hurt him on the way here. What if he couldn't write again? What if he couldn't fly again? Did he have a potion to treat him?

Landon somewhat knew it was Valentine's Day time, but he didn't care that much about it. It wasn't that he didn't care about love and all that stuff, but he just tended to not think about that sort of thing much. In fact, now that everyone else was buzzing about the upcoming romantic holiday, Landon was more excited about getting a good spot in the library to read. He could have easily chosen to read in his dorm room, but Landon did like the library even more because he loved being surrounded by old books.

So when Zach appeared and caught Landon's attention, Landon was a bit surprised. His blue eyes widened behind his glasses as Zach whispered at him, looking over his shoulder at his friend. "Cookie event?" he repeated, a bit confused. He had been so focused on his reading that it took a second to understand what Zach was saying. He closed his book around a bookmark and smiled at Zach. "I could go for some cookies," he said. He tugged his glasses off, since he only really needed them to read, and he put them in his glasses case before tucking them, as well as his book, into his backpack.

"Okay, okay!" he said, laughing softly as he started to get up and Zach took his hand. He followed Zach as Zach tugged him toward the Great Lake. "Why does everything happen near the lake?" he observed, laughing softly. So far, Landon didn't have many fond memories of the lake, with the last ball having some weird stuff happening there, and the ball that he went to before that leading to him almost drowning. He looked at the flower petals that were scattered toward the lake as they walked quickly, and he nearly stumbled a little as they moved so quickly toward the lake.

Landon chuckled as Zach seemed so excited. He didn't know anyone as cheerful and excitable as Zach. His own excitement mostly came into place when he got to play Quidditch. Landon was relatively mild mannered in general. Landon nodded as Zach said they should claim a table. "Sure, that one looks great," he said. Zach had been so excited about everything that Landon was smiling and happy about it all. It was contagious.

Landon had forgotten that Zach was holding his hand until Zach drew attention to it. "Oh! I'm okay, I promise!" he said, smiling reassuringly. "You didn't hurt me." Landon chuckled and sat down at the table next to Zach. "So what do we do? Just decorate cookies?" he asked curiously.

Valentine's Day. Not something that sparked any feelings within Lucille. Truthfully, romantic love confused her, and the lack of understanding meant a lack of enthusiasm. Perhaps when she'd get older, she would discover the appeal of the holiday but, for now, Lucille had planned on doing absolutely nothing. The day didn't mean much, and so she had decided to spend it like any ordinary day.

The common room was quieter than usual as Lucille curled up on a chair in front of the hearth. It was becoming quite a familiar sight to the other students, being one of her favorite spots to relax and unwind in the castle. She had scarcely settled in before Rosaline had entered, talking about a tea party, or, at least, Lucille thought she was talking about a tea party. Her speech was so excitable and Lucille was rubbing the sleep from her eyes, trying to process what was going on. Whatever it was, it sounded amusing, even if it was definitely something to celebrate Valentine's Day.

Before she had fully registered what was happening, Rosaline had brought her out of the dorm room, her urgency forcing Lucille awake. The two girls chatted, full of excitement, and Lucille was beginning to look forward to the party, especially now that they seemed to be bumping into a friend of theirs every couple of minutes. Rosaline, the strong force of nature that she was, was swiftly directing them all like a mother duck leading her ducklings, until the duo had now grown into a commendable size. Lucille hadn't realized just how many friends they had in common, but it was a welcome surprise. The only one she didn't know was Erast, a boy who seemed to be slightly on the quieter side, but nice nonetheless.

Finally, they arrived at the Great Lake, and the sight that greeted them immediately made Lucille change her mind about Valentine's Day. She may lack a Valentine, but this was going to be special nonetheless, promising to be a cozy day with her friends. Rosaline pointed out a round table that they could all sit at, and Lucille nodded enthusiastically. "Sounds great!" she said joyfully as they all began to pick their seats. Leo took the seat next to Rosaline, and Lucille sat down on her other side, looking at the array of confections on the table. The first thing that caught her eye and, apparently, Erast's as well, was the teapot in the center. Before she could reach for it, Erast began to fill up everyone's cups. "Thank you," she said with a nod when he reached her, taking a sip of tea from her now full cup. She closed her eyes for a second, savoring it, even if it was burning hot. Lucille liked it that way.

Finally, she reached for a cookie, a plain red heart-shaped one. What could she draw on this? The first thought that came to mind was her kitten left back in the dorm, but perhaps she should start with something simpler. She picked up a piping bag, hovering it over her cookie and, unfortunately, squeezing it a bit too hard, leading to a circle of stray icing landing in the center of her cookie. "Well, it seems I'll have to improvise this one, then," she said with a giggle, beginning to scrawl random lines and shapes around the circle, making a messy, but appealing, pattern.

Love is a curious thing. To some, it comes naturally; to others, it is a labyrinth of confusion. There are those who exude a natural air of charm, whose words roll off their tongue as smooth as butter — and then there are those who trip over their own stutters, who seem to only scare others away in their feeble attempts at communication. Ebony Vetra belonged to the latter.

Besides, what even is love? Flirting and attraction? Care and trust — which can seemingly be reached already in friendship? Of course, love doesn't have to be romantic. It can be familial, or a part of particularly intimate sisterhood. Love is convoluted. True love was difficult to reach in teenage years, that much Ebony knew. Those silly crushes and moments where one may be awestruck by the beauty of another was far from it. For that reason — and because she had yet to engage in a romantic relationship — Valentine's Day was a trivial festivity to the girl.

Admittedly, the notice posted on the bulletin board caught her eye. Because, whose eye would it not catch? The flamboyant hues and tints of red and pink had a tendency to make one curious and evoke emotion. Red was often a colour employed in propaganda, after all. The pungent scent of perfume was sickly sweet, but it was a sweet that had some form of allure to it that was complemented by the trail of rose petals. Humans tend to follow trails set for them, and the curiously scattered roses seemed to evoke temptation. The marketing must have been quite commendable, as Ebony — who often was repelled by such festivities — followed the trial to arrive at the ornately decorated area beside the Great Lake in curiosity.

They say that curiosity killed the cat; upon arrival, Ebony felt like the cat. It became instantly clear amid the intimate couples and the tight-knit cliques that the Ravenclaw had no place in whatever event this was. She had neither a date nor a group of close friends. The sheer amount of students present was already overwhelming, only exacerbated by the ostentatiously honeyed atmosphere. The originally carefree environment around the Great Lake that normally served as her refuge for when her mind was inundated with musings, was now marred by this suffocating romance.

Ebony was about to turn tail and head back the way she came, perhaps back up to her dorm or to the Library, when she glimpsed the tables of cookies and desserts. Though a sweet atmosphere indeed did not align with her tastes, sweet munchies she were not opposed to. Thus, she decided that she could stay for a little while, perhaps, to enjoy the delightful treats. Just a little bit. Besides, the gentle music drifting in soft waves from the gramophone was not entirely terrible. It was quite calming, in fact, not dissimilar to the gramophone music in the Ravenclaw Common Room.

Apprehensively heading to the table and grabbing a cookie, some frosting, and a couple mouth-watering desserts that were waiting to be go into Ebony's stomach. Apparently, the cookies were to be decorated and gifted to a special somebody. A Valentine, or perhaps a close friend. The girl decided to simply decorate for the sake of decorating, concluding that it would either go into her mouth or into the garbage. In no alternate universe would she give this to anybody. She wouldn't be caught dead doing something so terribly ridiculous and that had so much room for embarrassment. Never.

Scanning the crowd that had already gathered, most of the students were not recognisable to the fifth-year, save for a couple of older students. She spotted Cassandra, or "Cash" as they went by, a spiffy sixth-year that Ebony had met earlier in the year on the train ride to Hogwarts. They were seated in the pillowed area, along with two younger students. She then became caught in the familiar tug of war between her vehement social anxiety and the desire to feel... welcomed. Included. Part of something.

Ultimately deciding on the latter, the Ravenclaw waved at the Slytherin sixth-year and approached them, bringing her undecorated cookie along with her.

"Hey Cash," she greeted in an attempt at casual conversation, "I don't know if you remember me, but, ah... can I sit here with you guys?" It suddenly struck Ebony that their encounter on the Express was far from impressionable. She eyed the other two individuals cautiously. Was she intruding on any... bonding?

Crystal Theodora kept telling herself that she was only going for the tea. Not for the sound. Not for the light of the candle. Definitely not because of the chance of running into a certain Keeper for the Lions who always stood a little crooked on her broom, as if gravity were just a suggestion.

As she walked down to the lower grounds, the trail of rose petals felt like a stage. The lake sparkled in the dimming light, and for a brief moment she thought about going back. She wasn't good with crowds. She also had feelings that she couldn't easily organize. But the frosting was orange.

Crystal spotted it immediately upon reaching one of the smaller tables. She absolutely adored baking things for her loves ones growing up. Kora liked orange. Crystal had learned that accidentally. If her goldfish-like memory was right, she overheard it during one of Kora's conversations with someone else. Well...People call that eavesdropping.

The older girl had been rambling, in a way Crystal thought was absolutely adorable, about how orange was “criminally underrated” and how more team banners should incorporate it. Crystal also noticed half of her Kora's favorite things are orange.

Crystal held the orange frosting bag with deliberate care as she started to decorate a cookie. Structure first. She outlined a heart before filling it in. It was bold. Brighter than anything she would normally choose. It suited Kora.

Her thoughts drifted. To the way the Keeper’s hair caught the wind mid-match. To the determined crease between her brows when she focused. To the way she tripped over her own words but never over her principles. A warmth spread through Crystal’s chest that had very little to do with the tea nearby.

Next, she grabbed the black icing. This part needed to be done with care. She traced the letter "K" to make sure it looked nice but strong. Next to it, she carefully piped a "C" that was a little smaller. The lines crossed over each other just enough to look like they were meant to without being too obvious.

K and C. She pressed her lips together in quiet happiness. Crystal gently picked up the cookie and put it on a napkin before she could talk herself out of it. She stood up straight, but her heart was racing. She wouldn't be there for long. She didn't have to. Some gestures were more brave when they were done quietly.
