An Unlikely Meeting

I sat down hard with a sigh. Already I had a headache, and I hadn't really even done much studying. Rather, I had stared at my books, pretending to study while really daydreaming about various topics and ideas. Now, however, I was determined to actually get something done, and I had told myself there was no better place to read my books than the school library, right? I had bought two books with me to read, which was A History of Magic, and the other was Hogwarts, A History. I'm honestly pretty bad at focusing on one task at a time, and I didn't especially enjoy reading books, much less musty old books about stuff that happened quite a while ago. I looked between both books, trying to decide what book would be most interesting, or more accurately, which book might bore me slightly less. Hmmm. Tough choice. I settled on Hogwarts, A History, since I figured I better learn more about the school I was living and studying in. I opened the cover, and stared at the first page. I scanned the pages, looking for any fun facts or cute drawings. Great job Casey, I told myself, you've reached the first page. Yippee. Mom and Dad would be so proud of your sheer academic willpower. I rolled my eyes mentally, and told myself to keep reading. Nope. That wasn't going to happen. I closed my book, stretched, and quickly looked around for someone new to talk to. Aha. A girl sat alone at a table, and it didn't look like she was exactly studying hard. I started to get up, and I was approached, I noticed she looked distracted and frankly, quite upset about something. Hmmmm. Maybe I could help. I quietly walked over, smiled gently at her, and said, "Hey, I'm Casey. You look kind of upset. Are you okay?"
