Cirrus Mooney was born to muggles, Cillian and Anais Mooney, alongside her younger twin brother, Ezran. They later had a third child named Eli, who is currently 3 years of age while Cirrus and Ezran are 11. They are from a modest background.

Cillian is a labour worker. He is a rough and largely unfeeling man that has been emotionally absent in Cirrus' life. He is more like the leader of the household than a father figure to her. He rarely has time for his kids and never puts in the effort for them other than what is necessary. He works too hard and is often grumpy upon arriving home after work and takes his frustrations out on everyone else. He also just expresses a certain contempt for Cirrus' magical abilities. Thus, she is not too fond of her father. Her mother, however, is quite lovely, a stark contrast to her father. Anais is a kind and loving woman whom Cirrus looks up to. She is the music teacher at Cirrus' old school and raised her playing instruments, singing, and other musical activities.

Growing up, Cirrus and Ezran were also extremely close despite being almost complete opposites of each other. He was extraverted, she was introverted. He was loud and obnoxious, she was quiet and reserved. He enjoyed playing sports, she enjoyed staying inside and reading books. But they had one thing in common that they could bond over. Music. Due to their mother, they both were raised playing instruments, which the two found themselves enjoying each other's company in over many afternoons. Cirrus could play just about any instrument she picked up. Ezran was less talented, however, but loved spending time with his sister no matter the activity. To him, it was just pleasant sounds put together. To her, it was a gateway to another world. He never understood what she found to be so profound about studying the lyrical content of songs.

When Eli was born, things changed a little. Their mother had new priorities and had less time to spend with the twins. Cillian was working more to be able to afford sustaining three kids and, as such, was even was even more stressed than usual. Ezran was able to retreat to his large friend group of equally rambunctious boys and was enjoying have a new little brother to play with. Cirrus, however, felt ignored half the time as her mother was occupied with Eli, and Ezran had his own friends to go to. It made Cirrus realise that she was lonely. She didn't exactly have friends at school or anywhere else, her mother and brother were her only friends. Cirrus then absorbed herself in literature, more than before, seeking companionship from the perfectly crafted characters in her books, feeling as though the words of her favourite authors truly understood her beyond what lies at the surface. They spoke both to her and for her. The same was for music, which was also an outlet for her, she would compose a little in secret, hiding her work from Ezran in particular, knowing he would tease her endlessly if he found out. Cirrus still remains close with her mother and brothers in spite of this, she has just grown to be a bit more closed off than before, rarely expressing her feelings.





When she was 3, her father was watching a sports program rather passionately while she was sat on the sofa beside him, little occupied with her toys while her mother was busy with her twin. Her father was much too loud for her liking and she was extremely irritated, and the television had simply combusted all of a sudden in her first instance of magic. This also started her father's certain sense of contempt towards Cirrus' magical abilities, especially as she continued to break or damage things during emotional outbursts in accidental uses of magic throughout her childhood.
