𝕵ulia waited restlessly on the couch as her family got ready to go to Diagon Alley for Julia's school supplies. The letter for her acceptance into Hogwarts had come about mid-July and ever since then she had begged her parents to go to Diagon Alley. She had nearly annoyed them into submission with her constant please. Finally Eliana, her mom, gave in and decided they would go to Diagon Alley on Sunday all together, as a family. Which brought Julia to now. Waiting eagerly for her maddeningly-slow family to change and get downstairs. They had decided the night before that they would use Floo Powder, a magical dust used to tansport oneself from one ministry-approved fireplace to another, to reach the Leaky Cauldron where they were going to spend the latter of days before Julia took the Hogwarts Express to Hogwarts. Just the thought made Julia shiver. Both from excitment and nervousness. She, of course, hoped she would do well at the school and make friends, but there were no promises. For all she knew, Julia could be the lonely and shy little girl who sits in the corner doing nothing. This was why she secretly wanted a pet. If, in the rare case of that happening, atleast she would have something to keep her company. Julia hadn't told this to her parents, or anyone, fearing that her hopes would be let down. But she knew she would need to tell them sooner or later. She couldn't keep the burden of that worry on her shoulder alone. No, yet later still seemed better than sooner. Julia forced her mind to bury these thoughts deep down, as she heard footsteps on the stairs. She turned back to see her family descending down, as Julia smiled to keep things right. She would tell her parents on her own, in her own time, at the right time, none of which fit the current scene. So she let her thoughts go, and shifted her vattention to her mom who was saying, "Is everyone ready? Great! I'll just grab the floo powder and we'll be on our way". Eliana looked pointedly at Julia as she said this almost as if recounting the month of begging she had endured. Ah well, not Julia's problem. Julia watched as her mom bought the magical powder and motioned for Julia to go first. Julia hesistated. She'd only used floo powder a few times now. What if something went wrong? She glanced at her family and saw their reassuring faces, even Orla's and decided to give it a go. She stepped forward and glabbed some powder, a soft smile forming on her face as she stepped into their fireplace and whispered as clearly as possible, "Diagon Alley". She let her hand go slack as the floo powder fell down, and the last thing she saw, was green flames, before the world went haywire.

Julia's head buzzed and her body threatened to explode with dizziness. This had been her worst nope, wrong word. Her most weird and unique experience of Floo Powder. She must have gotten glimpses of atleast 50 different fireplaces before finally ending up in the Leaky Cauldron. After a moment her family arrived one by one all, like Julia, stumbling as if dominos. Julia surveyed her surroundings. She'd only come to the leaky cauldron once wjen she was 5, despite having come to Diagon Alley numerous times. There was a bar and many witches and wizards occupying a few old looking tables and chairs. The place had a warm feeling despite the old and rusty surroundings. After a few formalities handled by the parents while Julia and Orla played Exploding Snap, they made their way to a room. It had a magnificent view of both Muggle London, where there were people walking around in muggle clothing, likely going to school or work, big red buses, and the usual sound of muggle traffic, and Wizard London, where people in cloaks roamed doing their back-to-school shopping, shopkeepers advertising their products, and the usual chatter of over 100 witches and wizards. It was enthralling to the young 11year old let alone her 9 year old sister. Julia's prents smiled down upon them, a hint of nostalgia on their face. After a minute, they decided to drop their trunks off and go to Diagon Alley for the supplies right away. Julia dug out her supply list and soon they were making their way to the wizarding alley. After visiting Gringotts, the first stop was Madam Malkin's where she got her robes, then the cauldron shop, Flourish and Blotts, and everything else until only Ollivanders and, of course, Magical Menagerie for her pet. They went to Ollivanders where Julia got her first ever wand. According to Ollivanders, the wand was 32.8 cm, chestnut wood, and a unicorn hair core. It was said to be whippy and naturally attracted by lucky witches or wizards. That made Julia smile and get her hopes up a little. Naturally lucky. It was worth a shot. She summoned up all her courage and went up to her parents, to ask for a pet, ready to explain her reasoning. Julia took a deep breath, but before she could ask them, Leon, her father, turned around and asked with a dead serious expression, "Lia, we've been thinking, and were wondering if you would like a pet? One took take with you at Hogwarts?"

Julia could hardly believe her ears. It was as if her parents read her mind. Slowly, after a moment, she said, "You took the words out of my mouth Of course I would! Lets go now!" a grin forming on her face. She and Orla raced to the menagerie and she thought of possible names for her pet. She knew 2 things for sure - it would be a cat, and the cat would be a girl. As she walked into the shop she was blown away by how many pets there were. Cages full of different breeds, and animals covered the walls with hanging cages of birds creating a dome over their heads. The sound and scent of animals filled the air as Julia smiled. Finally, it was time. She walked along a wall looking at the cats. She thought, and thought, and finally after what felt like a million years, she settled on a silver-grey cat. A grey mackerel tabby. She was gorgeous. She had a smooth silver fur with grey stripes. Her eyes were as piercing black as the void, looking straight at Julia as if peering through her soul. Julia looked at her family and said confidently, "I choose her.". Smiling at her determined face, they gently lifted the cat and bought her over to the counter. The kind old lady said the cat was nameless and that she'd recently turned 1, and her birthday was the 11th of October 2024. What a good birthday gift for the cat. Getting adopted. When the lady asked Julia what the cat's name would be, she was stumped. Julia wanted something elegant and for some reason space-like. Finally she thought and said, "Her name will be Elara. It means something melodic and care-free. It is also a beautiful moon orbiting Jupiter. She is silver and grey. Just like the moon.
