It was quarter past nine, nearing the ten o’clock curfew. Seul was on her way back to the Ravenclaw common room from an extra charms study session. The corridors seemed livelier than usual considering it was only a Thursday night. Her habitual commute brought her through the Small Hall every time, though she was often too focused on other matters to glance up at the wall. This time, however, something piqued her attention. “On the walls would hang enchanted pictures of witches and wizards who have made an impact in Hogwarts and within the Wizarding World…… Everyone that was hung in the Small Hall would be memorable, and legendary in the greatest ways. A large, golden-framed portrait of Albus Dumbledore would hang just to the right of the fireplace.”*

Seul had heard about Dumbledore, a legendary wizard. He defeated Gellert Grindelwald, discovered twelve uses for dragon blood, and even cooperated with alchemist Nicholas Flamel. His portrait was seemingly less energetic than the rest, although he would still disappear from time to time. Seul never understood how these magical paintings operated. Are there souls confined in them? perhaps they were controlled by ghosts; she wouldn’t know. It was almost spine-chilling standing in front of a bunch of moving pictures as they periodically stared back at her; some even looked as if they would pull her into the image. Deciding to not waste more time, Seul snapped her head away from the wall and began to make her way around the corner.

Anastasia had overall had a decent first week back at school so far. She'd managed to catch up with most of her friends from her first year and had sorted pretty much everything out with all of her professors. She was so glad to be back in the groove of things. One thing that was slightly less than perfect was all the new first years. She knew that she was only a second year, but she honestly didn't remember being that small and annoying. And maybe it was just because she hadn't been in school for most of the year, but good Lord, there were so, so many of them.

She was on her way in from the Grounds, where she had been studying just because the weather was so lovely that day. That meant she had to cut through the Small Hall to get back to the Common Room. She wasn't in a rush, but she was also not trying to get detention her first week back. She had gotten in trouble her first week of first year, which was not something she was trying to turn into a trend. Anyway, she wasn't a prefect anymore, so she would have plenty of time to get in trouble for something that was actually interesting.

Turning a corner, she barely had time to register the other girl before they collided. Ana was knocked into the wall, banging her elbow which throbbed painfully. "Watch where you're bloody going," Ana snapped, crossing her arms and flipping her hair. Not that she would know, but she looked exactly like the "mean girl" from every American movie ever made. Looking her assailant up and down critically, she concluded that, since the girl was shorter and Ana didn't recognize her, she was likely a first year. Honestly, they thought they owned the place...

Seul barely had any time to react, it all happened so quickly. The impact caused her to lose grasp of all her books, which went tumbling out of control. She would have fallen over as well, if it weren’t for the wall catching her. She wasn’t that much injured besides a small bruise on her arm, though the girl that bumped into her seemed to be less fortunate. She deserved it.

"Watch where you're bloody going.”

The brown haired girl said as she crossed her arms after flipping her hair. She had quite the nerve to say that considering it was her that bumped into Seul. Her mannerisms were exactly like the many other spoiled pure-bloods Seul was forced to meet during parties. How generic and lame. Perhaps the girl was one of them, though Seul probably completely erased the girl from her memory given her bratty attitude. “Excuse me, little miss ‘vanity’, if you haven’t realized already, it it you that needs to watch where you are going. Not that you have, considering that slow and egotistical Gryffindor brain.” It was quite the comeback, Seul admit. She had only discovered during her first year of Hogwarts that she had a knack for insults. It came off her tongue naturally, though she had been disciplined all her life to not speak in that manner.

The brown-haired girl was definitely a pure-blood. No other muggles or half-bloods were bold enough to confront Seul, besides a few brainless pranksters. Whatever the case was, she was sure that her family was more elite than the girl’s. Without a second thought, Seul added: “Oh, and please do pick up the books that you so carelessly knocked out of my hands. I have to somewhere to be. Do hurry up.”

OOC: I see that you've set the date to April 2nd. In the original post, I set the date to March 12, although I think I've been a little unclear with the date format: 200312 (year, month, day). I think after knowing that your character had been on a hiatus, I am willing to change the date to April 2nd if Ana wasn't in school during March 12 yet. Apologies for the confusion.

Ana arched an eyebrow at the girl's comeback. 'Miss Vanity', honestly, how pathetic. the girl had no way of know that Ana was vain from a five-second encounter. The fact that Ana was rather vain was utterly beside the point. She resisted the urge to roll her eyes at the result of the girl's reply. How stereotypical. Ana honestly didn't care enough to even bother responding to this little first year who thought she was all that. She had been one of the top students her first year, was now ahead of her classmates from being tutored privately for nearly a year, and spoke four languages. She wasn't particularly concerned about convincing some annoying little first year that she was fabulous and brilliant, because she knew she was. Bloody hell, she was having some empathy for Aurelia for a moment. Now that was unnerving. It wasn't the same though since Anastasia doubted she had been quite that irritating and anyway, Aurelia completely deserved it.

Ana was planning on just leaving, but the gall, the impertenice of the girl to try to order Ana to pick up her books when it was so clearly her own fault they were on the floor. Meeting the girl's eyes, Ana smiled coldly. If looks could kill, that girl would be long dead. "Of course, sweetheart," Anastasia said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. She loved the use of sweetheart as an insult. It was something she had picked up while she was in New York, and she had been dying for a chance to use it. Maintaining eye contact, she kicked one of the books across the floor, moving it closer to the clumps of foot traffic. On that note, she smiled brightly as the girl, tossed her hair, and began on her way.

From all the conceited pure-bloods she met, this one was definitely the most snobby of the bunch. Look at her, with her proud attitude and her vixenly expression. Seul could not believe that she would meet this kind of animal here at Hogwarts.

Frankly, Seul had been actively trying to change her behavior since the day she met the person that would open her eyes. Since the beginning she had always been cold and harsh towards others, but perhaps that was the nature in which she was raised in. Being an ‘elite’ pure-blood imbued a kind of pressure that she was sure no one else had to deal with, but from that she realized that her stringent view on everything was as close-minded as it could get. Ironically, it led her to become the very snobbish person that she so much despised.

But

Her blood never boiled so much before after the brown-haired girl unwaveringly kicked her book across the floor while maintaining eye contact. Her eyes shown hints of amusement, almost as if she did this all the time. Seul tried so hard to remain composed, but just this once, she let herself go. The girl had crossed the line after all. She prayed her parents would forgive her as she shed off any remaining parts of the refined and disciplined Seul everyone had known her to be. With adrenaline coursing through every inch of her body, she lunged at the girl who was moving away, grabbing her wrist and yanking her back. It was quite the show, like a wolf taking off its sheep clothing. Seul had to show who was alpha here. “So thats how you want to play.”

Anastasia arched an eyebrow at the younger girl when she grabbed Ana's wrist. It was like this idiot wanted to be hexed within an inch of her life. Ana was going to be mature and walk away from this, but this girl simply was dying to fight. Ana was more than happy to oblige. "Love, remove your filthy little hand from my body before I rip it off and shove it so far up your ass it pops out your mouth and waves hello," Anastasia said, her smile and sweet voice never faltering. You would have thought that she was inviting the younger girl to a lovely tea party, had you not caught the murderous look in Ana's eyes.

When the little brat made no move to let go, Anastasia slapped the other girl. Not hard, but enough to stun her long enough for Ana to pull out her wand. She hated violence generally, actually, no, she loved it Regardless, violence was, despite what other's might think, not Ana's first resort. However, this girl had made it physical, and seeing as Ana was at most an inch taller, nobody could blame her for saying that she felt threatened and was merely defending herself.

Her mind was afire with possible hexes. She rather fancied the Slug Vomiting hex but decided against it. Her goto spell, Incendio, would be a bit much, since she, in fact, did not actually want to have to deal with the ramifications of murdering another student. That left her with the Curse of the Bogies, the Sneezing hex, or the dancing feet spell. Ooh, she hadn't used that one in a while. "Tarantallegra!" she said casually, flicking her wand at the brat.
