The Ravenclaw Table 2019 -2020
Interacting with @Brie Hedges
Breana let out a sigh of relief as the girl, Brie, welcomed her introduction and spoke to her. "Okay! Great! Coolcoolcoolcool... So far so good... this is going great! Now, time to keep the ball rolling, Breana!" She thought, still trying to give herself a pep talk as she converses with Brie. Despite her being quite the chatterbox back home, she clams up whenever she's in a place she doesn't know, and especially if she doesn't have any friends or anyone that she knows of in said place. She offered the girl some of the food that was on the table.
"Oh, adjusting? Hm, w-well... it's going... it's just going." Breana laughed softly."I'm half-blood, and since my mom's a muggle-born, my parents just thought I'd just be a Squib and they'd just live in the muggle world through and through." She gestured at herself. "But... Here I am, magic and all!" She lowered her arms, looking back down at her meal, lightly poking it as she continued. "Dad's still trying to understand it, but he's doing his best. Mom's happy for me, but... since it's been a long time since she even remembered being a witch, she's had trouble prepping me for Hogwarts and all that." There was a hint of a frown hiding on the corner of the short-haired girl's lips. She shook her head, turning back to Brie. "I'm sorry, I must've been talking your ear off, Brie... what about you? How's the wizarding world treating you?"

She smiled to herself, happy she had found a chatter box, similar to herself. "Well, you know it has been pretty good. When my mother and sister found out i was magical, they were so happy for me. However, my sister not as happy as Mother because, for some reason, she never manifested. I think it is because she's adopted." She jokes, knowing full well she isnt, they look like twins even though she is 3 years older. "But on a serious note, no one knows why she didn't, we are a full-blood family. At least, according to our mother...i have never met my father...he died before I was born..." She would whisper the last part, reliving the memory, or rather, the lack of one. She fidgeted with her ring as she talked about this. She then realized how much of a downer she was being and perked up, trying to go back to her happy self. "BUT! Enough about my home life, I shall instead! Tell you about some things I like." She exclaimed in a theatrical voice, attempting to lighten the mood. "Let's see...I like singing, playing the guitar and...talking! What about you? What do you do for fun?"

Breana nodded as she listened through Brie's words."Okay, this is great! She's not spooked by sudden rambling... You're doing great, Breana! Keep it going!!" She continued in her head, cheering herself mentally as she listened to Brie's story. Her eyes widened as she listened to her fellow Ravenclaw's situation in her home life. It was an almost funny coincidence, since her parents would've been happy that Breana was a Squib, whilst Brie's sister would've done unspeakable thing to be anything but one. "Huh, w-wow..." Breana stammered. "I'm... I'm sorry about your sister... Being a..." She looked around, hoping no one is listening to them and lowered her voice. "a Squib." She then talked in a normal volume again. She wasn't sure if it would be a good thing, talking about Squibs while enjoying the Feast, so she tried her best to keep the conversation between themselves. Breana was about to pat Brie's back, trying to comfort her when she quickly tried to perk herself up, but then the girl bounced over to a different topic altogether. Thinking that it would be rude for her to go back to the rather depressing conversation before, Breana followed Brie's lead and moved on.
"Oh! Well, let's see..." She looked up in thought. "I also like talking! Though, it's just striking up the convo first that always gives me a heart attack. I really hate that!" She chuckled softly. "Hmm... there's reading of course. I even brought some of my own books here to Hogwarts with me. And... what else... oh! I tap dance, but that was just 'cause my parents wanted me to have more hobbies. It is actually fun though, but I don't do it that often anymore."

The Ravenclaw Table 2019 -2020
With the sound of the hat’s voice exclaiming the word Ravenclaw continuously and loudly echoing in his head, Vincent stepped down and absentmindedly walked towards the huge, ancient table from where his Ravenclaw future would commence. He was trying to make sense of what had happened to him in the past time, and more specifically today, but it was way too much to comprehend at this very moment, causing him to feel rather uneasy. Luckily with each step towards the table the echoing of the hat’s voice faded and with it the feeling of unease subsided as he slowly became aware of his surroundings again. He remembered the train ride to Hogwarts, during which he had met a girl with who he had a very interesting and pleasant conversation. He remembered promising her to keep an eye out for her, so he looked around, but to his disappointment he didn’t catch a glimpse of her. Not really surprising, it was hard enough to remain focused on yourself in all this racket, let alone keep an eye out for someone else. Maybe he would run into her some other day. Abandoning the thought he reached the table and almost automatically grabbed the nearest empty seat and sat down, not feeling the need to search a suitable place, not in the least because he had no idea which requirements such a suitable place would have to meet. Apart from that it probably wouldn't even matter where you'd sit down, everything was new anyway.
While he tried to get as comfortable as the bench would allow, he felt a deep growl in his stomach. This was a sure sign his body needed energy, so he checked the abundance of food and drinks displayed all over the battle-scarred, dark table for something he felt like eating. He took a glass of water and a handful of grapes to start with and looked around, realizing that it would probably be a good idea trying to meet some people here if he were to make anything of his new home. Scanning the people around him, the thing that immediately struck him was the seemingly wide variety in types that had been sorted into Ravenclaw. He saw a shy-looking girl with long, fiery red locks and bright blue eyes, a boy with raven black hair and greyish eyes who didn’t seem at ease at all and, about four seats away, a colorfully dressed girl with long blonde locks that said something out loud. She was too far away for Vincent to hear what it was she said, but her reaction told him it wasn’t intended for anyone to hear.
So many different people, it was almost as if the hat had just randomly selected a house rather than carefully chose based on whatever knowledge it had about the person in front of it. ‘Oh well, I assume the hat has knowledge I don’t have.’ He thought, a thought that made him wonder what qualities the hat had seen in him to sort him into Ravenclaw and not into one of the other three houses. As he realized he wasn't going to find an answer to that mystery now, he looked around some more, noticing almost all boys and girls were already involved in a conversation and the few that weren't were too far away to start a conversation with. Apparently most kids had the same thoughts he had, including the boy sitting on his right, who spoke with the boy sitting next to him, and the boy and girl opposite him. The seat to his left was still empty, leaving him no other option than just sit and eat in silence. Having finished his grapes he reached for a plate that held some sort of raisin bread, grabbed a slice and took a bite as he decided to greet whoever would sit down next to him.

He looked up and down the table at everyone eating and suddenly realised how hungry he was! Everything over the last couple of months had been new to him, from getting his very first letter by owl to making the trip to London and seeing the breath-taking way the arch to diagon alley opened. He was amazed by the Gobins in Gringotts and how nobody seemed to bat an eyelid, like they were perfectly normal. He had gotten his very own magic wand - something which, until now, had only been a thing of stories and fairytales!
He had seen a minature dragon, small enough to fit in the palm of your hand; he'd seen real flying broomsticks; hats that turn your head invisible; boots that make you levitate; sweets that make smoke come from your ears!
He had taken a bright red steam train from London to who-knows-where in Scotland, been in a boat that rowed itself and worn a hat that seemed to know everything about him and could even talk!
If someone had told him 2 months ago, everything that was going to happen there was no way he would have believed them. Yet here he was, in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (a name he had only heard for the first time only a couple of months ago), sat in front of the largest feast he had ever seen.
He would let it all settle in later - right now he was going to eat!

Katherine was ecstatic to be placed in a house at all. She was so sure that there was a slight mistake in the system and 'magically' the hat wold just say "You don't belong here!"...or something along those lines she giggled to herself while the thoughts raged inside her head, while making her way down the aisle to find a place to sit. 'ummm..' She looked looked at the table nervously trying to see a spot where she could fit in. She tugged a curl that was loosely on her shoulder showing off a nervous tick. How she longed to make friends.
She found an empty spot near her and decided to sit. She observed the food and was amazed at the assortment but of course she wasn't surprised. After all she did as much reading of the books her parents had about this world as she could so she wouldn't seemed dafty or how they put it...inadequate. She looked to her left and saw that some people were already in what looked like a sort of a argument slash conversation. 'Huh alright didn't think that ye would be a rowdy bunch....'. Katherine then looked to her right and saw as a new first year like her that she saw not too long ago get sorted into the same house eating what looked like......raisin bread? She chuckled under her breath as she remembered how da adored raisin bread while she herself despised the rotten dried up old fruit bread. She mentally prepared herself to speak to the boy to her left since he seemed alone and maybe she could have a hopeful conversation to a beginning friendship like she hoped. She softly cleared her throat and took a deep breath before turning to her right. "Is it any good laddie?", Katherine wanted to dig herself a ditch in her Ma's rose garden and just bury herself underneath. 'Out of all the things ye could've of said you asked him if the bread that he was currently eating was any good? cmon Kathy ma and da would be laughing at your social skills at this very moment.'
She could feel her cheeks starting to go a pink rosy hue on her copper skin before she began to tug on one of her curls again while she waited for his reply.

Vincent took another bite from his raisin bread and slowly chewed on it as he allowed his thoughts to wander off again in another effort to wrap his head around things. Preoccupied as this kept him he didn't notice someone taking the seat next to him until a cheery voice coming from his left snapped him out of his daydream, startling him a little. He turned to his left and found himself staring in the face of a copper-skinned, brown-eyed girl with long, deep brown curls restrained by a red bow. She was pulling a strand of her hair and her lips were curled in a hint of a smile as if she was a little nervous. He took a closer look at her and noticed her cheeks seemed a little flustered. Wait, could it be... was she blushing? Why would that be? Vincent, who hadn't heard what exactly she had said, wondered if she was blushing because of what she had said or just because she was a little shy. Not that it really mattered, he was very happy someone had sat down next to him and was willing to talk at that. At first glance she seemed like a friendly, bright girl, someone he could probably get along with very well. He carefully thought of a fitting reply and just as he opened his mouth to talk to her he realized he still had his mouth stuffed with raisin bread. He turned his head away, quickly swallowed the raisin bread, only just avoiding choking on it and then turned his face back to the girl. 'Uhm, hi. I'm sorry, I was lost in thought, a bit overwhelmed by all that has happened, so I didn't hear what you said. How are you doing?' He said to the girl, smiling softly. 'I'm Vincent by the way, nice to meet you.'

Katherine giggled at the sight of his mouth full of raisin bread as he tried to speak she thinks? but she was happy to realize that not everyone can have such a grand introduction like the great headmaster. Katherine sighed in relief before she smiled brightly to Vincent when he introduced himself. 'See? your not as daft as ye thought Kathy just one step at a time lassie you can do it' she thought to herself. She held out her hand to Vincent to greet him."My name is Katherin Jolin but you can just call me Kathy if ye prefer ye hear laddie? It's a pleasure to meet ye. Though i do hope I didn't bother ye uh...", She looked over at the raisin bread that has haunted her taste buds for the rest of her 11 year life and gulped. "Scrumptious looking meal, Though I was looking forward to making friends!" she rambled on.
"Anyways congratulations on getting into Ravenclaw! I'm sure they're lucky to have ye. ", Kathy tried to make a good conversation start. As it would it appear Kathy never really made any friends before. Though bright and such a positive mind at times, her social skills were really 'down on the rocks' she would say. 'Kathy cmon lassie ma always said that to make a friend you just needed to step in their directions. You got this, he's not that intimidating now is he?' She chuckled mentally when she at least shook off most of her nerves. "So how are ye feelin laddie? After all ye got into Ravenclaw so are ye happy?", She curiously asked, wanting to know more about this boy and to just help the conversation go at least somewhere that'll eventually make them friends. 'I hope' she thought in the back of her mind.

As Vincent introduced himself he noticed the cautious smile on the girl’s face turn into a giggle all of a sudden, making him realize she must have noticed him almost choking on his raisin bread despite his efforts to hide it. ’Luckily at least it amused her enough to make her smile.’ He thought, feeling slightly sheepish over his silly action with the raisin bread. Her giggle however quickly turned into a bright smile as she seemed to have shrugged off some of her initial shyness. She offered him her hand and introduced herself as Katherine Jolin or Kathy if he preferred that. He gently shook her hand and repeated her name in his head to memorize it. She struck him more as a Kathy than a Katherine, so Kathy it would be. All the while she kept the conversation going, clearly more at ease with every word, much to Vincent’s pleasure. He hated seeing people being uncomfortable around him, even though he himself might not be the cause of that in the first place.
Seeing Kathy relax conjured a big smile on Vincent’s face and he engaged in the conversation. ‘Thanks for your concern, Kathy, but not to worry, you didn’t bother me at all. Food can be found anywhere at almost any time, interesting conversations not so much, so not really a contest here. On top of that, for some reason I got the idea you’re not exactly a huge fan of raisin bread.’ Vincent winked and his smile widened. ‘I noticed your hesitation at the word 'scrumptious', so I assumed you actually don't like it at all. Too bad though, this is actually pretty good for raisin bread. Are you sure you don’t want to give it a try? Or maybe I can grab you something else instead? Something to drink maybe?’ While waiting for Kathy to choose, he continued talking. ‘And thanks for the congratulations and compliments, although I honestly do not know how or what I am feeling just yet. It’s all been quite a journey into the unknown up until now. I suppose, looking at myself, Ravenclaw is the house that probably best fits me so I guess I am happy the hat sent me here, but I still don't really know what to expect. And what about you?’

Katherine mentally sighed in relief when she heard that she wasn't a bother to him. Her shoulders sunk down a little in as they correlate with her thoughts, just happy that the conversation was going nicely then she originally thought. When Vincent mentioned that he noticed her dislike for the raisin bread she smiled sheepishly. 'Does it really show that much that I hate it?' she thought. 'Well if it wasn't for da and his obsession with the darn thing then it probably wouldn't be haunting my poor tongue.' She shuddered physically at the memory. 'Well...let's just let the poor laddie enjoy the thing and try not to focus on it.' She chuckled mentally as she listened to his offer of trying it. 'No, no way laddie not again not ever again.' she thought and her nose crinkled a bit but she politely declined. "I'm afraid not it's uh been ruined for me...", she raises her hand and she tugs on one of her curls again but this time more sheepish then nervous. She then began to think of how she was a little hungry after all the excitement . 'A tiny morsel of food would't hurt now would it?' she reasoned in her mind. 'Just not that damned bread anything but...' Katherine then tugged on her curl once more before she released it and put her hands on her lap once more.
"Maybe something would be nice, thank ye for askin I appreciate it.", she told him. She admired his thoughtfulness and just how he could just help the conversation go along. "Your welcome for the compliments, after all we made it. We're finally here so at last someone should congratulate ye no?", She chuckled as she tried to make sense of what she was saying. "What I mean is that you deserve it despite how ye feel right? After all this is new I assume, so not everyone is goin to know how they feel after they are sorted. However I get your curiousness about the future and what it expects. I just can't wait to explore it all! I can't wait to learn the mysteries maybe even undiscovered secrets in history! ay that'd be the life for me..." she looked down at her lap as her excitement overruns her thoughts of all what she could learn of history, of what she could discover, even of what she could even create! She she shook her head to focus on the current conversation and smiled brightly again but this time a bit embarrassed. "Sorry laddie had my mind a wee bit sidetracked of all the things unknown ya hear? Anyways I'm happy to be here at all. I just want to learn more about this world and just make friends along the way. Speakin of that would you like to be my friend?", She started to ramble " I mean I would understand if ye said no because I just popped beside ye like a daisy out of snow and asked ye but it'd be nice to have a mate to talk to ye know?..."
