I wave to Fawkes, trying very hard not to laugh. My brain immediately translates her name into the swear similar to Fawkes.
"I'm Parker." I turn to Lotus. "What'd'ya mean your hair just does that? Are you one of those magic folk? The person who came to my home said that magic wasn't permitted outside of Hogwater unless you're an adult. Or, wait, no, It's Hogwarts, sorry."
I pick up my sketchbook before Corvus settles down, so she doesn't accidentally sit on it. I'm quick to close it, the color returning to my cheeks as I realize someone might've gotten a glance of the page. I nervously rub my thumb across the black canvas cover, finding the texture grounding and soothing.
"It's alright if you stay, I guess. I-Sorry if that was rude, I just think it's starting to get a little cramped? Well, not really. It's a big carriage, but I think we should only let one more person in here if they come along."
I pull my knees back up to my chest, tucking my sketchbook between my hip and the wall.
"Ralph is my Mu-Uh. Ralph is...my..dad."
I hesitate. I knew some kids in Primary who had been teased and bullied for having step parents, so I decide maybe if it's best to keep my mouth shut about Ralph and his marriage to Mum.
I look at Corvus, before following her gaze to the window. I let out a soft sound of astonishment.
"Whoa...I've never seen water without..People. Or Boats."

I observed the girl who came into the compartment with a calculating gaze. I thought she was pretty. I wished I had clear skin like hers. Everyone in the compartment seemed too kind. There must be a catch. 'They cannot be this kind without having intentions' I thought for myself. I was too sceptical for my own good.
I was lost in thoughts. But suddenly I noticed that I was the only one who hasn't introduced themselves.
"O-Oh... I-I'm Corvus."
I murmured. My voice was low and quiet. I ran a hand trough my hair, but instantly regretting it. I started to fear that someone might have seen my scars. Especially the one which crossed my left eye was very deep. My cheeks became crimson again. Especially after I caught the gaze of Parker. I looked down in embarrassment and shame. I wished I would've been invisible, or not scarred.
I started to fidget with an old silver locket on my neck. I always did that.
"S-So, how does your hair change colours? Can you teach me?"
I questioned curiously while looking at Lotus. My blue eyes seemed prying, almost scarily so, without my notice. I was still fidgeting with my locket. My hand was pale and my knuckles were wounded.

"um yah but I'm not changing it on purpose"
I couldn't help but wonder what Parker was drawing but I didn't ask because it seemed like he didn't really want anyone to see. I couldn't blame him for not wanting people to see what he was drawing because I did understand that some people just liked to keep certain things to themselves like I did with my lil plushie.
"um yah it's getting kinda stuffy in here huh? "
This was the most people I had interacted with outside of my family. Even though I had gone to farmers markets with my grandparents and my dad had taken me to get my stuff for Hogwarts. So sure I interacted with others but really this was the most I've chatted with people my age.
"ohhhh he's your dad he sounds cool."
I did notice that Parker had fumbled his words but who was I to judge when I stuttered more often than not. Him talking about his dad made me wonder what my dad was doing.
I follow his gaze out the window.
"woa! Look at those fields!"
The view of the water and the fields beyond it was mesmerizing and the fields had me wondering what else was out there.
"Corvus.. um I don't think I-i can teach you how. "
I hadn't the foggiest idea on how to explain that what my hair did was genetics and something that I couldn't teach.

"Why?"
I questioned quietly. That burning curiousity in my blue eyes was almost unnerving as I looked at Lotus. I didn't even notice that I made him uncomfortable, I just wanted to know more, as always. Always asking, always prying. Even though I always thought everything out before acting, when it came to my curiosity, I couldn't control myself.
I observed the others. I noticed that Parker was drawing something. I leaned forward, trying to get a peek of his drawing.
"W-What are you drawing?"
I questioned quietly and curiously. I asked too many questions. As I noticed that, I quieted down.
"S-Sorry."
I murmured quietly as I noticed his reaction. I quieted down. I felt like I was being too much, prying too much. I have been told constantly when I was younger that I was too curious for my own good. This has gotten me in trouble.
I looked away, biting at my nails, however as I noticed what I was doing I instantly put my hand back down. My mind was racing with questions. Would these kids be truly kind to me? Perhaps even my friends? Such a naive thought, no one would want to be my friend. Why would they? Deep in thoughts, I didn't even notice that my hair wasn't hiding my scar anymore...

I hesitate, but scoot a bit closer to Corvus. I notice how she keeps stopping, or tries to stop talking, so I decide maybe her and I can just talk, and Lotus and Fawkes can talk together.
"They're dragons."
I murmur quietly as I open the sketchbook. I keep my voice low and the book tilted so only Corvus can hear or see.
"...It's okay. I'm not mad."
I shrug softly. I offer her the book, giving her a chance to flip through if she wants. The pages are covered in pencil, pen-Paint spattered here and there. I have stickers, things glued or taped in. It's very clearly well used and well loved. The dragons are all different shapes, sizes, colors-They pop beautifully against the blank, colorless backgrounds. There's little scribbled notes here and there, but my handwriting is far too messy to understand.
One page is completely covered in words-I scramble to flip that one over so she can't read it, even if she tried. I tear the corner a little, but it doesn't completely rip. There's a few pages with practice drawing humans, some other animals-Most of the pages are just creatures of myths, legends, or creatures of my own design. I watch her face for her reaction, worried I was going to be teased for my love of fantasy.

"um I'm a Meta--mete-- metamorphmagus thats why."
Being a half-blood living in a wizard family I knew enough of well some things.
I look over at Parker and catch a glimpse of the dragons on the pages.
"Woa! Dragons! Those look cool! Did you know that Chinese Fireballs are the only dragon that falls under the oriental classification and that if given the chance they will eat a person! My Great uncle got eaten by one when my grandma was a kid."
I didn't know too much about dragons but I definitely knew enough about them considering that I had a huge interest in them.
"OH OH! And--and Peruvian Vipertooths only grow to be around fifteen feet in size making them the smallest breed of dragon. Oh and the Ukrainian Ironbelly is the biggest one though technically cause of it's size and weight that makes it a slower flyer!"
I then realize that I was probably rambling and that he probably knew that already.
"um sorry I'm rambling.. I'm sure you already knew that about dragons..."
I reasonably felt embarrassed again. It wasn't like I could help it when ever the topic of dragons came up because I whole heartedly loved dragons.

Ooc note:ReducioTyping this on my phone will fix formatting laterFawkes looked at Lotus and asked him You're a metamorphmagus? Honestly the ability to change appearances is so cool! She said with curiosity in her eyes.
She looked over at Corvus and noticed the scar over her eye. She looked at it worried since it looked deep but she decided better to ask about it later privately. You have such pretty eyes. I've never seen such clear blue eyes before She looked in awe, amazed at how clearly you could see the blue in her eyes.
Dragons? She perked up at the mention of them. Could I see your drawings please? I-If you don't mind that is She added the last part sheepishly hoping she wasn't coming off as rude to the group.
Making a few new friends who weren't from her home would be nice and she was trying really hard to make a good first impression. She only feared that she was being too pushy with it. Perhaps she shouldn't ask them so much? It was their first time meeting after all... Maybe she should stop talking for a bit? Or would that make her seem disinterested? Her thoughts were a jumbled mess as she waited to see how they would respond

I observed the scetch book given to me. My eyes widened in awe.
"These are beautiful."
I murmured.
"You're really talented, Parker."
I said quietly as I observed the dragons. I didn't know much about the creatures, since I never knew they were even real until now, because I grew up in the Muggle world. However they fascinated me.
I looked up at Fawkes as she complimented me. My eyes softened, a blush appeared on my face. I was too easily flustered.
"Oh, t-thank you."
I said quietly. I observed her a little while longer and took the courage to compliment her back.
"You're very pretty."
I said quietly. I genuinely meant it. I wished I looked like her, or at least similar.
I looked back at the sketchbook. I noticed how Parker hid one page. Everything in me told me I shouldn't pry, however I couldn't stop myself.
"Why did you hide that page?"
I questioned, my eyes meeting his. He was sitting close, the closest I ever let a stranger come to me. I observed his face for a short while with curiosity. I suddenly looked down, remembering that he could see my scars from this close up. I hated how they caused this much problems. I wished I had makeup to cover them up, but I never got enough pocket money to buy some.

"Uh..sorry. I don't really like to show my art much."
I mumble, trying to change the conversation away from me. I close the sketchbook. My brow furrows as I process Lotus' words. I shake my head softly at Fawkes. This was bringing in too much attention toofast. I really don't like it.
"Wait, dragons are real? No, no, you're having me on."
I frown quizzically at Corvus' insistence to hide her face. I decide I'll let her bring it up on her own. I shrug.
"Uh. I was..having a day."
I shrug, giving her an answer without completely delving into the scrambled scribbled mess of words on the page. I turn towards Lotus and Fawkes, who are sitting on the opposite side of the carriage.
"I don't think Corvus is from a magic family. I'm not. So. What's a meta-morph-maghot? Ma-mAH.."
My brow furrows as I continue to stumble over the end of the word. I grumble as I give up, gesturing vaguely at Lotus' hair.
"What's the word for non-magic folk? I've been saying 'normal', but I don't think that's right. Or fair. I mean, I guess it could be considered right, since magic is new to me. But you get the point."

"Yes! Dragons are absolutely real!"
I pull my trunk out from under my seat to pull out my obviously well loved "Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them" book copy and I flip to the page titled Dragons. The name on the front of my trunk was more obvious and readable now that it was out from under my seat. And to anyone who read it, it read "Edward Lively" in a slightly slanted way.
" You can't tell you have not looked at your copy of Fantastic Beasts!"
I hold up the book showing the dragon page.
"See! They are real! And I'm gonna work with them one day!"
I then realize that at the very least two of them are from a muggle family.
"OHH! Muggles that's right I keep forgetting that not everyone is born in to a wizarding family!"
I knew that in that moment I looked stupid to say the least.
"um a--mete--meto--metamorphmagus is um well i'm not really sure how to explain what that is other than I don't need transfiguration spells or pot--ions to change how I look."
I still struggled with some words I just hoped that they didn't notice. I also still wasn't confident in trying to explain myself and how I was a metamorphmagus.
But what was obvious was that I got really excited to talk about dragons and if permitted I'd talk about them all day.
