The Office is Open

In a small stone building attached to the stables lies Professor Toussaint's office where the door is always open, if one should choose to enter, they will be greeted with a simple "Come in".

Inside is an office space that can only be described as beautiful, nothing like the exterior. There is a large brown rug on the ground, depicting moon phases and constellations. Behind the desk, which is a deep mahogany and littered with tiny trinkets, is a large fireplace. Whether for show or for function nobody knows, as the Professor prefers to be cold and doesn't use it, at least not in view of students. Upon this stone fireplace are photographs of places Akeem has visited, along with the creatures he has seen. To the right of the fireplace is a tall bookshelf with all the books on magical creatures one can imagine, some tattered from their years of use by either the current or former professors.

In front of the desk are two seats with plush, velvet brown cushions. These are almost delicate-looking; a clumsy student might think twice before sitting down in one, should they accidentally break it. The walls are covered in photographs, framed train tickets, tapestries, and paper souvenirs from travels.

To the left of the fireplace is a rather large phonograph on a mahogany stand, which gets plenty of use by its owner. If one should choose to enter the room, it is likely they will find Akeem listening to something as he grades. Leaning on the wall behind the phonograph is a beautifully made cello. A porcelain tea set sits atop a small circular table in the corner of the room closest to the door, atop a lacy white doily. In the other corner, next to the fireplace, is a tall bonsai tree well cared for by the professor.

By all accounts, the most fantastic thing in the room is the skylight in the center of the ceiling, enchanted to be almost unbreakable and for natural light to filter in.

Now, if this student who entered chose to stay, Akeem would look up from his desk. "Howdy, how can I help you?"

RULES OF THE OFFICE

Welcome to Akeem Toussaint's office! Before we have fun here, please heed the following rules of the office:

I. Please do not godmod Professor Toussaint. This is an IC thread where I can interact with you, please don't make it an unpleasant experience for either of us!

II. As stated before, this is an IC thread. Please ask any OOC questions in the FAQ Thread or reach out to my owls.

III. This is an IC forum, so all posts must abide by the 200-word count requirement.

IV. You may not backdate any threads here to before 18 April, 2025, as this was Akeem's hiring date. Any post in this thread without a date will be assumed to occur on the day it was posted.

V. If another student is utilizing the office, you must wait until either they have left or they have not posted in three or more months, in which case the office will reopen. You are free to request PV threads with the Professor.

VI. Students younger than third year may roleplay in this forum or in the office, but may not say that they have come to class as they do not take CoMC until the third year.

VII. If you would like to make an appearance in one of my lessons, please reach out in owls! There’s no guarantee I can fit you in, but there is always a chance.
