@Maisie Fenwick Rose Williams
I had so much fun RPing with you!
"Dirty snow? No, we always take it from the center of the pile, where nobody has yet touched it, including the dirt!" Rosalyn said, reassuring the girl, Maisie, that she wasn't just consuming dirty snow.

"Three brothers! Oh, wow, that's a whole lot! I'm an only child, so just me." she said. She'd wished for siblings, then not, then yes again, then no, and then she was somewhere in the middle.

"A scone? Oh, I'm alright, thank you!" she said, pretty full. She'd just eaten on the train, and she didn't have much room left in her stomach!

"I'm pretty? Oh, thank you! You are gorgeous, and I love your name!" she said, blushing a bit at the compliment. She wasn't used to things like that, so it was always special to her.

"Aah!" Rosalyn said, caught off guard. She hadn't expected Maisie to attack her with a snowball!

"Oh, it's so on!" she said, throwing one of her own.

Quite a while later, exactly how long she had no clue, they were finished up with their snowball fight. Rosalyn had enjoyed it quite a bit, just getting that freedom and fun. She said goodbye to Maisie, looked around once more at the gorgeous snow, and left to go find her dorm and perhaps take a nap.

Once they reached the area with more snow for them to build the snowman as stated on Rose's paper Mat suggested them to do both her and his paper together. Rose smiled at the idea in agreement as she was starting to take a small amount of snow in her hand to start sculpting what will become the snowman. Then Mat started to speak about his favourite Christmas over the last 5 years as stated on the paper he got. While listening to him Rose recalled his behaviour from earlier when he attempted to hide the fact he also had a paper by secretly putting it in his pocket hoping that would go unnoticed. However Rose's eyes took a glance of it and despite her asking him about it she indeed already knew the answer. Nevertheless he didn't deny it which would have been dishonest. Eventually he was the one to suggest to talk about their respective favourite Christmas while building the snowman when he could have hoped for the time to make Rose forgetting about it. Yet this would not have happened.
She was content enough for Mat to start off by telling about his favourite Christmas. Rose was nodding time to time at his words to show that she was paying attention to his words.
When Mat stopped talking a silence fell between them as she looked up at him wondering if something were wrong. For awhile she felt a bit worried as perhaps she had forced him into something he didn't want to explaining why he tried to hide the paper. Perhaps that was making him uneasy to talk about himself especially to a stranger like she was to him. Rose was trying to discern any expressions or possible concerns on his face when he finally broke the silence by asking her back the question. She simply smiled at him before answering him.

"To be honest it's hard for me to choose one Christmas better than another one as all of them over the past 5 years were quite nice." It was true and rather difficult for her to tell about only one Christmas as either she had any favourites or all were her favourites. Yet she tried to find one particular or different from the others.

"Then I suppose this one was also my favourite! Let's say seeing again my family after some months was making this time of the year even more enjoyable. More special." she smiled at him.

The snowman had now a body and only the head was still missing.

"I guess we are not a bad team at building snowman are we?" Rose slightly joked.

Skylar stepped forward from the hideout. “What sharp eyes you have.” She giggled and walked further toward the boy. It seemed like she acidentally recued Zephyr from the nervousness, considering the way his face expressed. “I’m sorry, it's not supposed to hit you there, actually.” She shrugged, oddly smiling, and scratching her head with guilt. Then, a tug of her lips started to rise as she formed her smirk. “But I could throw it again if you wanna fight me.” Even though her voice was in an apologetic tone, she could not help but tease her friend a bit when she saw an opportunity.

“I did not expect to see you here.” She paused a bit. “In the library. I mean.” She then went to her thoughts, remembering his holiday through the phrase and the picture he sent to her. “I did not celebrate the season. My holiday was just the same as I told you, wandering around, enjoying the quiet. Despite the cold weather, I would say it's pretty normal and boring, I guess.” She lowered her voice. “I really miss the green grass and warm air.”

She rolled her eyes before she imagined all the scenery she would prefer. It was running through her head over and over all winter. The fresh air of a green field with the soft wind against her skin. All Daisy would sway in the rhythm of nature. Seeing those flowers in her mind made her recognize something more. “Oh! Have you tried the teas and snacks yet? There was a camomile tea, my favourite.” She let out a soft grin and pointed at him. “I actually have told you that. Didn’t I? And you said you grew camomile at home. right?” She chuckled.

Her brow arched. Her eyes widened, but they looked genuine. “Did you bring any with you here?” Her smile was as bright as her excited face. “I’m curious if it tastes different. Maybe yours are sweeter.”

Looking at her snacks, most of them was chocolate base, it was not like something that went smooth with the tea. She expressed a dissapoitment in her sigh. She found herself tired of chocolate after she went to that hidden room. “Do you remember a Gryffindor boy in the great hall? When we play gift hunting. He showed me a hidden room that was full of chocolate and mashmellows and cookies during holiday. I guess I am starting to feel tired of these snacks lately.” Her sad eyes gazed at his hand. “Did you get something different?”

Mat had finished telling his story. Well, that wasn't so difficult, he thought before asking the question in return. Rose seemed to look at him with a worried and apprehensive expression, but she immediately smiled and began to speak. He nodded as Rose agreed with him that the past Christmas had been special, and he chuckled at Rose's joke: “Not at all, and you're not bad even at noticing things” he replied, while compacting the last snow that would serve as the head for the snowman. “Have you ever thought about auditioning as a seeker for the Quidditch team? With that eye, they'd take you right away” he added smiling as he stood up.

The snowman was now nearly finished, only the decorations were missing. Mat looked around for something that could serve as a nose, drying his numb hands on his cloak. “We could ask Miss Doukas if we can use a book from the library as a hat” he said, glancing at the librarian's desk, where the jar of notes seemed to look at him with a smug expression. After all, he had to be grateful to Rose for asking him about his note, it had helped him open up. He remembered that he had also put the gift package in his pocket, and took it out. "Have you opened yours yet?" he asked as he unwrapped it. He held his breath when he saw that it contained another strip of paper, but luckily this time it was a Christmas wish.

As Rose was finishing up the head of the snowman soon to be done Mat's remarks in response to her joke made her look up at him and laughing in embarrassment. If only he knew.

"Well first thank you for the compliment." she said smiling. Indeed she was appreciating the words and the fact he thought this way.
"But sadly even if I were thinking about it I don't think I could ever do it." she added with a small embarrassed chuckle.

She didn't know why but whenever Rose was talking about her fear to others when she didn't know them well she was always feeling awkward, embarrassed or sometimes even uneasy as if she were scared to be mocked or not being taken seriously. Although she knew there was no shame in being scared of something. Nevertheless sharing it was like exposing oneself and she was worried to appear weak especially in front of someone she had just met.

Suddenly her smile left her lips as she looked a bit sad at the memory of the reason of her fear before she started to speak a bit more quietly than previously.

"I'm scared of heights...so..." Rose paused "Makes it harder to audition, doesn't it?" she said smiling to Mat not to appear as sad as she was feeling about it nor to reveal her worries.

The snowman was now done and Mat was looking for some decorations to make it look more lively. He suggested a book to use as a hat. Rose's eyes widened. It was inconceivable for her. Although she knew they were surrounded by books and it was the easiest things to find around them and that could be used as a hat she couldn't picture a book on the top of the head of their fresh new snowman.

"A b-book?" she asked as if it were the craziest idea.
"I mean if we don't find anything else yes. Although we are surrounded by books..." she added almost giving in in Mat's idea. Perhaps it was indeed the best they could find.

Only eyes, nose and mouth needed to be created as well and it didn't appear there were any stones for it did it? Mat would maybe have an idea for it too.

"How about the eyes, nose and mouth? It doesn't seem there are any stones here." Rose said looking around her.

Mat asked her about the other paper given with the small gift package which turned out to be some chocolates and a nice Christmas wish. Rose looked at Mat opening his as he appeared a bit nervous about what he was going to discover when his expression relaxed after reading it.

"I opened it too. It was really nice words." Rose smiled.
"Don't worry it was not going to be another kind of challenge to do." she joked.

Rose was feeling happy to have met someone new with who she could build a nice snowman and spend a good time discussing with.

Seeing Skylar step fully into view, he chuckled, and it was followed by a playful huff when she commented on his sharp eyes. “Only when someone is laughing badly behind their hiding place”. At her apology, he shook his head. “It’s fine, don't worry about it, just surprised me, but no biggie.”

She suggested throwing another one, and that reminded him he was holding a ball of snow he'd been preparing for a while. One eyebrow lifting. "I believe it's my turn now, right?" He playfully threw the snowball at her.

Her comment about not expecting to see him in the library earned him a laugh. "And why is that? Do I look like someone who would rather avoid the library?" He was not really a studious person, but he did utilise the library when he needed it. “I was not planning to come at first, but since we just came back from school break, I'm feeling homesick. I needed to be around people, so that's why I came.”

She talked about her holiday and he had to frown at what he heard, "They didn't offer special meal on the day? I hope you got my gifts, by the way?" He made sure to send it in advance so she would get it on Christmas Day. “Staying here during winter can feel empty." It's probably too quiet without the majority of the students. “My break was good, as you know, I went home, which is why coming back feels harder than usual.”

"Come on, let's try the snacks." Their conversation turned to tea, and Skylar reminded him of the things he mentioned in his letter, about planting chamomile at home. "It's true, in fact, I brought some with me as I told you." He told his mom that one of his friends liked chamomile, so she packed some bags for him to bring to school. As for the taste, he grinned, "Why don't we pay the kitchen a visit and let's try one of these days? Let me know when you're available, and I can give your share to you." Maybe then, she could tell him how different the taste was.

He inspected the snacks while she asked him about the Gryffindor boy. "You mean Wes? Yeah, I remember him. What about him?" He grabbed a muffin and munched while listening to her share about a hidden room full of chocolate and marshmallows. "Oh, what hidden room is that?" He's been hearing about hidden rooms and places here, but he'd never seen one himself yet. "I just got myself a strawberry muffin."

For a moment, the cheerful expression Rose had maintained until then vanished from her face, which was crossed by a shadow of sadness. It lasted only an instant, then she smiled as if to play down the situation, but her smile did not reach her eyes, which remained veiled with wistfulness, nor was it reflected in her voice, which, when she spoke, retained a note of distress . Rose's response confused him for a moment, until she clarified that she was afraid of heights. "Oh, yes, I suppose that's something to consider" he said, trying to make her feel at ease. It seemed like a strange reaction to a common fear. Mat watched her for a moment, torn between curiosity and not wanting to push her to talk about something personal. He decided not to insist; she would talk about it if and when she felt ready. After all, they had just met.

Mat burst out laughing when he saw Rose's incredulous expression at the thought of using a book as a hat. “Don't worry, I was joking. I think the librarian would ban us from the library for life if we ruined one of these books” he reassured her. "Not that it would make much difference to me, but I imagine for a Ravenclaw it would be the end of the world" he added with a smile.
When she asked him what they could use for the nose, eyes and mouth, Mat looked around but couldn't see anything that would serve the purpose. "Maybe we could transfigure the Chocolate Frog boxes into stones?" he suggested half-heartedly. He shrugged. “I don't know about you, but Transfiguration isn't my strong suit. We'll have to settle for drawing them.” he said, tracing a slanted line and two dots on the head of their snow creature with his finger. He tilted his head slightly to assess the result and grunted in satisfaction.
While reading the note, Mat laughed at Rose's joke, realising that his concern must have shown on his face. “I was almost hoping it'd say to make a Christmas tree” he joked.

Rose suspiciously looked at Mat about him joking for using a book as a hat for their snowman. She was not sure he was really joking or if deep down he did eventually consider this option. But as he stated the librarian would have probably not agreed he was likely indeed joking.
At Mat's following words Rose could have been offended yet she smiled at it as he was quite right. Well not exactly by saying that would be the end of the world for her but yes it was an inconceivable idea for her to do such things with a book. She simply laughed at his words without any statements.

Rose looked at their faceless snowman and thought he did appear sad and that they definitely should find something or at least a way to create the features of his face. That's when Mat suggested to use transfiguration as a mean to do so. Rose' eyes sparkled as it was not a bad idea but the Chocolate Frogs boxes? Plus that meant they would need to know the specific spell to do so as there was probably one wasn't there?
Nevertheless Mat stated Transfiguration wasn't his things to Rose's regret as it wasn't her things neither. Not that she was not good at it but more finding it difficult to understand it sometimes. Therefore drawing as Mat suggested was probably the best they could do and certainly the safest option for everyone.
Not soon after Mat drew a slanted line as a smile and two dots for the eyes however he had forgotten the nose Rose added with another dot in the middle of the face. She too titled her head to look at their now done snowman with a smile on her face.

"We did work well didn't we?" she enthusiastically said hoping Mat was sharing her feelings about it.
"It doesn't look that bad and even nice!" she chuckled.

While turning back to Mat before he read the Christmas prompts she laughed at his statement.

"Well if you do want making a Christmas Tree we can try. There are plenty of trees outside. We have already built a snowman why not making a tree?" Rose joyfully joked.

She had spent a really nice afternoon building a snowman and making a new friend. It was now the time to go as dinner was soon coming and they also had to leave the library at some point. Rose was feeling happy a smile plastered on her face as she was heading out of the library.

Skylar quickly twisted her shoulder, but couldn’t avoid the close hit. Her body was covered with many snowflakes, yet she was laughing, enjoying the fight with him. As she paused, smirking at Zephyr’s question, she answered with a teasing tone. “Pretty much, yes, you don’t look like a bookworm at all.” She giggled. “You looked like someone who would like to start a fight,” She shruged with a tug on the corner of her lips. “Well, too bad that I already started first before you.” She laughed again. Throwing another hit at him, she aimed this time. The snowball fight lasted for some time before she could finally catch her breath.

Sitting down, she carefully listened to him explain why he came here. She could understand how it felt to be homesick, but mostly she only missed her plants at home. While Zeph pursued interaction with people, she, on the other hand, searched for nature, warmth, and freshness.

As he mentioned the special meal, she shrugged and rolled her eyes. “Why trouble themself when fewer students are here? Good thing, they still had pumpkin juice. Otherwise, I would have immediately flown home.” Said she, sarcastic tone.

Thinking about the plant he sent, her smile lit up again. “Yes, I received your package. Thank you so much.” Her eyes lowered a bit as she added. “I actually named it after you, and pinned your picture in the pot.” She chuckled. “It's quite funny to see how it's shaped like your sheep.” She peered at him. “What about my daisy? Have it been well?” Hopefully, his answer could relieve her from being overprotective of her plant.

Widen eyes sparkled. Her excited face already tells how she felt knowing he truly brought the chamomile. “Really?” She nodded. “Of course! I will send an owl to you when I’m free.” She paused a bit. “You know what… I’ll bring my special cups for us both. So, we can enjoy our tea time.” She narrowed her eyes, smirking, looking like someone who already planned something wicked.

About the hidden room, she answered him, casually. “It’s a room that's full of chocolates, and cookies, and…” She quoted with her fingers. “Sweet things,” She added more. “As he told me, it only opened in holiday. Sadly, I can’t prove it to you.”

Skylar looked at her snacks, then looked at his. “Well, a strawberry flavor sure has some sour in it. All of mine are only sweet and sugary. I wonder if I keep eating these, I might swell someday.” She was being sarcastic again, but ate them anyway.

“To be misunderstood is not to be broken. It is to be rare.”
