She anxiously chewed on her bread as they spoke, the bread was still somehow warm something that she never understood. The bread kind of reminded her of food at home, they usually had freshly baked bread with every meal that they made together. It provided her an extra sense of comfort.

Ross stumbled through his story, seemingly leaving out a lot of details. An inquisitive and frustrated eyebrow raised, he was obviously leaving a lot of it out which is exactly what she didn't want to happen. She was continuing to be left in the dark. She was going to open her mouth to say something, but she had bread in her mouth and Flash started talking before she could get a word out.

Her heart continued to soften, if it weren't for Flash she would've already left Ross. Well, she wouldn't have even sat down at the table she would've joined the one of the others but here she was. As Flash loosened his grip, she gave it a small squeeze before letting his hand go and letting her own hand return to her lap. She stayed silent mulling over the next words she could say, did she even want to say anything?

Black and white were no longer categories she had for people which made things increasingly hard for her and stressed her out more than she was willing to admit. Truthfully, she knew Flash had regretted his actions and she knew Ross had too. She sighed, eyes on Flash for an extra moment. He really seemed like they wanted them to get along. Her body slowly turned to return to face Ross. "Honesty. From both of you, from now on. I know Flash, we already established this. But especially from you housemate. I don't like this whole, not having the whole story thing. It makes me feel gross, and makes both of you look like you're hiding something when there should be nothing to hide." She sighed, propping her head up in her hand, pouting again. "I'm tired of heavy conversations. Ross, what's up with you and worms." She grabbed another bread roll, seeking that warm comfort to fill the pit in her stomach.

The whole deal made him feel guilty. He could never be quite sure if he had done something wrong or not, and currently he could not pinpoint what he had done this time. Sure he had a small grasp of it, but he had nothing for certain. It felt like a decent reaction, which was why it was so difficult for him to understand why he felt so horrid. Then again, it was not like she even had the full story. It somewhat burned though, so as soon as she provided an opportunity to change the topic Ross almost jumped on board as soon as he heard it.

Almost

Something about that excitement he had had before was now diminished. That sparkle in his eyes seemed to shine a little less brighter. He did not seem to have the energy for much of anything at the moment, and for once he hoped everyone could read him like a book. Still, he played along. Ross, while curious of the girl, could not bring it in him to even ask her a question or push anything. The unknown was terrifying, but when the unknown was ridiculing him he had a feeling the unknown might be less scary than what is actually was. Sure the girl was a Hufflepuff, but he had no clue who she was.

It was scary, and clearly the worst was to expect currently.

"It hasn't rained in a while.." the boy remarked pessimistically, now glancing to the door.

No rain meant no worms. Well, sure you could find them but Ross liked to think they did not exist if there was not rain. It just seemed sort of odd. The look at the door was not as if he was going to leave. Well, he may but this was his territory. He sat at this same spot at the table everyday. Nobody was going to steal that from him. If anything, he needed to get these guys out of it.

As he fiddled with his ring more, he looked back to the two next to him. Something about this whole deal intensely bothered him. He never asked to be part of this whole deal, yet here he was facing the backlash. It was not like he even did anything too wrong. He just followed his gut like normal. The boy directed his attention back to his sheep ring. He shriveled up his nose as he looked at the thing. It had a sheep on it, but he was not going to stick to this whole passive deal. Ross twisted the ring's base, pulling it off his finger and putting it into his opposite hand. He squeezed onto it before making direct eye contact with Willow.

"Ya want honesty?" He inquired, letting out of a heavy sigh. "I think ya should both head outta here." he stated, clear frustration within his voice. "You don't even gotta talk to me, y'know? I dunno what you're tryin' to pull, but i'm sick o' it! If ya think i'm that much of a liar, you don't gotta put up with me. Go back to takin' your walks or whatever and leave me outta it." He lashed out, his tone completely flipping to something he had not quite heard from himself before.

The boy was shaking. He was frustrated, and he did not know what was going to come next. A long diary was to come after tonight, and a lot of grieving. The message was clearly not entirely directed at Flash, but parts of it were. He did not blame the kid, and he knew well he would be writing a long apology or doing something in potions to make it up to the boy; however, for now it seemed he would continue to dig his own grave deeper and deeper. It was funny how negative emotions could easily transfer into each other when gone unchecked.

Instead of bandaging up the wound, the interaction only seemed to cause greater harm. He had been too hasty after all, not to mention heedless. Another mismanaged communication-- with Ross no less. Even though Flash was looking to repay him, no-- needed to repay him-- everything about the interaction was wrong.

Willow was abrasive, still licking her wounds from the events of the month. She was normally so kind and sweet, but Flash couldn’t expect her to conceal her negative emotions the way he did. Even though she agreed to take part in the talk, she acted like an unwilling participant, hardly able to say a word to Ross without sounding exasperated.

Then Ross, though normally one to avoid confrontation at all costs, suddenly took Flash up on his offer. He didn’t want to be involved with them, which was a reasonable point of view, though Flash had somehow missed it. He was so concerned with doing what he thought was right that he missed the obvious flashing warning lights right in front of him. Naturally, Ross would rather avoid them altogether, rather than make amends. Making amends was stressful, and Willow wasn’t making it a simple task.

Incapable of rescuing the situation, and a man of his word, Flash stood up from the table.

”I’m sorry we disturbed you.” He was bitterly disappointed, but he couldn’t let it show on his face and make Ross think he owed him anything. It was supposed to be the opposite, but he still hadn’t put the work in to make Ross see it the way he did. At that point, he wondered if he ever could. ”But this isn’t a favor, I still owe you, regardless of how Willow feels about it.”

Flash glanced at Willow, making it clear that he expected her to follow him to the Slytherin table, but it would be her choice in the end. He left.

Of course, he was chastising himself in his head, running over the decisions that lead to that point, trying to find the salvage in the wreckage. Perhaps the best thing he could do for Ross was be as scarce as possible, a state of being that took up the majority of his childhood. At least he was used to it.

Great. She didn't even want to be here in the first place. There was no interest at all to talk to Ross and try to make things better and here she was sitting at the table on front of him on Flash's behalf of wanting them to get along. She didn't even get why it was important. She'd have to ask Flash about it later, she was trying to get a deeper understanding of him. Not to sit in frustration with him. That was the unhealthy things that she had unfortunately learned too late.

She couldn't lie and say the last part of what Flash said stung just a little bit. Of course she didn't know the full story about literally anything that had really happened leading up and during the time they were fighting but that really was her fault for not asking more questions. The attempt to make her face neutral failed, she was never really super great at hiding her emotions as she normally would wear them on her sleeve for all to see.

On her way out from the table she gave Ross a final look, wondering if she should say something but decided against it. She quickly caught up to Flash as he headed to the Slytherin table and bumped her shoulder against him. "I hope that went as well as you expected it to. Why do you want me to be friendly with him so badly? I literally have zero interest in trying to get to know him. We're fine now, best friends again. We don't have to dwell on what broke us up in the first place, at least I rather not." As they arrived at the Slytherin table she looked around at the food but had suddenly lost her appetite. She was looking for a peaceful dinner, not one where she got yelled at by a fellow Hufflepuff.
