Jennie sighed. Another long day over.

She walked down the corridors, clutching a book in her hand as she watched the sun's rays set over the walls of the courtyard. There was still an hour left for dinner, so why not spend some time alone? After all, she had finished all her homework for the next day earlier. She tugged her cardigan closer to her as a chill from the cool evening breeze ran down her spine.

Jennie sat down in her usual corner and opened her book. Honestly? She'd rather have taken a nap usually, this time of the evening was most suitable for everyone to lament about their homework or be obnoxious with their loudness. More often than not, it got so loud that not even the dorms were safe from the chaos. Usually, she was fine with it. She liked chaos, but today however, she was a little too tired for that.

It can't be helped though; Jennie would just have to suck it up and do something else. The courtyard was fairly quieter— only a few students here and there, hanging out with their friends were seen. It was peaceful.

An hour passed by faster than Jennie had expected. It was time to head back inside and join her friends for dinner in the Great Hall. She stood up rather unwillingly and had begun walking, grumbling at the ground about time going too fast when she didn't want it to, when she slammed right into someone, who then fell down! Jennie felt heat rush to her cheeks in utter embarrassment as she looked down at the fellow student.

"Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry!" She exclaimed as she extended a hand to help them up.

Fawkes had been taking a walk around the courtyard admiring the various sights. She wasn't looking where she was going when she suddenly bumped into someone and fell down. Ow.... she mumbled rubbing her head. She looked up to see the girl extending an arm out to her.

It's alright don't worry! Fawkes said taking her hand to get up. I should have watched where I was going I'm so sorry. She said embarrassed. Thank you for helping me up! I'm Fawkes by the way. She extended her hand to shake the girl's. I'm sorry once again for bumping into you I'm a bit clumsy She said sheepishly as she leaned down to grab the books she had dropped.

She quickly gathered her books before looking back at the girl grinning and noticing the book she was holding. Do you like to read? What are you reading? Is it interest- She cut herself off before she continued. Sorry! I'm speaking too much uhh i-its a bad habit of mine... What's your name? She asked smiling apologetically and watched the girl waiting for a reply from her. She wondered how the girl would react to her sudden flurry of words, worried she may have offended or scared her.

Felix was speed-walking to the courtyard, wanting to get some fresh air before he had to start heading back for dinner. He wasn’t particularly hungry right now. Maybe

Tucking his bag closer to his side, he went to check his watch, only to remember that, of the multiple watches on his arm, not one of them was actually functional. He really needed to get one which actually kept proper time.

He rather liked the non working ones though. Sentimental value, of a sort. Besides, they were excellent fidgets, and doubled as accessories, kind of. He’s sound that they chafed if he wasn’t wearing his arm warmers, so he usually wore those two things together.

However, even without the clock, he knew it was getting later, so he kept a fast pace.

Felix almost hoped he’d run into someone on the way there, just to kill some time (and maybe ask for the time as well, because he truly didn’t know).
He wondered if he could just stay in the courtyard, instead of going to back inside. That would be fun. The courtyard was nice, even if it was a bit chilly. He’d worn layers, so he’d be fine.

Felix made it to the courtyard in good time, without encountering anyone, but, upon arriving there, he spotted a couple girls. Seemed that they bumped into each other.

Rather clumsy of them, he thought. It wasn’t that hard to look up while walking.

Although, he’s done the same thing last year, knocked down while walking. Coincidentally, also by a girl holding a
book.

Either way, he made his way over to where they were, reaching them just in time to hear the second girl introduce herself. “‘Fawkes’? That’s an odd name”. He’d never met someone named Fawkes before. Was it a nickname? Or just an odd family, maybe?

He turned to address the first girl, and asked, “Hey, do you happen to have the time?” he gestured to his own watches (still stubbornly not ticking), and shrugged.

Jennie was admittedly taken aback by the girl's cheerfulness. Wow, not a drop of annoyance even after getting knocked down! On the contrary, she was grinning at her. She was a pretty friendly girl herself, so this was saying something coming from her.

Well, at least she isn't mad.

She chuckled as the girl, who introduced herself as Fawkes, started rambling. Jennie herself had that habit whenever she felt flustered, embarrassed, or just happy in general. She took the girl's extended hand before shaking it with a smile."Happy to meet you! I'm Jennie—" She was about to continue and assure the girl that it was Jennie who bumped into her, when yet another person made their presence. Except, this time, it was a boy.

His interference was quite abrupt and maybe a little...awkward. His statement about the girl's odd name was...bold. Jennie wondered how some people had the guts to make comments like that on another person, especially when they are only just meeting the said person. He was straightforward, to say the least.

Jennie watched as he turned to her and asked the time. She glanced at his arm, which was adorned with multiple watches. She couldn't help but smirk a little at the irony. So many watches and not a single one of them are functional? If that wasn't ironic, she didn't know what was. On the other hand, Jennie was loyal to the one watch she had received on her birthday two years ago. She wore it everywhere she went, and lucky for him, it was almost always functional.

She looked down at her watch.
"It's like ten minutes to seven." She answered, her own eyes widening at the time. It was way later than she thought. It was still particularly bright for seven p.m. in winter.

“Thanks” 6:50. Later than he’d thought. Oh well. Still some time to kill. He glanced at his own watches again. They were still (obviously) not working. Felix rolled his sleeves back down and shook himself out.

Should’ve worn a jacket, really, because, despite the relative warmth in the courtyard (compared to the actual outdoor grounds), it was still a bit too cold for comfort.
He’d put on an extra tank top under his tee, but had been too lazy to grab anything warmer than his flannel (the closest thing to the dorm door) after he changed out of his school robes.

Felix looked up at the two girls again. “So…what’re you guys doing?” walking to dinner, he assumed, but who knew, maybe they’d have something else they were doing too.

“And what’re your names, for the matter? I caught yours—” he pointed at Fawkes, “—not yours though.” he switched to point at the first girl.

For the record, Fawkes’s name was real cool. Odd as hell, but still cool. Imagine being able to introduce yourself as ‘Ms. Chaos’. Would certainly allow for some very dramatic entrances and introductions. Dr. Chaos. Sounded like a movie protagonist. Would it be weird to tell her that? Probably.

Fawkes narrowed her eyes at the boy as he commented on her weird name. My name's not 'weird'. She exclaimed. Its an old english name from the British Isle. Gran insisted on my parents naming me some old name.

Fawkes observed the fact he asked for the time despite the fact he had multiple watches on. It was certainly a strange site to see. She recognised a few of the watches being from famous places but she couldn't place where the others were from. Hearing Jennie give the time Fawkes checked her own watch to confirm it. There was only around another hour before dinner was over. We're heading for dinner. She replied to the boy's question.

She looked around the castle walls as they walked to the great hall for dinner, admiring the architecture and designs of them. She listened as the boy asked Jennie for her name and she waited for her to answer before asking him. What about you? What's your name? She asked trying to make sure she didn't accidently knock into the older students who were in the hallways. She didn't want to fall over again that's for sure especially as that would delay them for dinner even more than they already were and she was definitely hungry.

"Ooh, how fancy." he laughed a little at Fawkes’s exclamation. Perhaps she was used to getting her name commented on, she seemed quick to defend it. “My grandparents wanted an old, fancy name too. I didn't feel like it, though. So I'm just Felix”. Felix held out his hand for a fist bump, before moving on to address the next thing.

"Dinner? How nice. You seemed to be in a bit of a hurry, though. Are you meeting up with someone, or just looking to be punctual?" Sure, it was pretty much time, but the two girls had apparently been moving quickly enough to both bump into each other, which had given Felix the impression that they actually had somewhere to be. However, he didn’t know either Jennie nor Fawkes very well at the moment, so they might’ve just wanted to be on time, for time’s own sake.

Personally, Felix usually went to the dining hall a bit later on. Partially just because he liked to pick his spot according to the people who were already there, and, in the case of one of his particularly late arrivals, just because it was a little quieter that way, not being a part of the original throng heading in that direction. A leisurely walk down was rather enjoyable, especially in the evening.
