Her Parents' Letter solo closed

Lennox dreaded every step to the Owlery, knowing that she had to check if her parents had sent her anything. She wasn't necessarily holding a grudge against her parents, but she was never sure how they would swing. Having a family that normally leans into traditional wizards life, she could never tell if today's letter would be loving, or if it would criticize her straying away from the life she was raised under. She was especially unsure since she had been sorted into Ravenclaw, unlike her father, who was from a long line of Slytherins. She credited this to her mother, since she had attended Beauxbatons, so they couldn't be truly sure if she would have been Slytherin if she had attended Hogwarts.

Lennox pulled herself from her thoughts as she looked to her mail, where she saw the letter she knew would be there. She took a deep breath as she tore open the envelope and began reading.
Lennie,

On behalf of your mother and me, I want to say I hope your first few weeks are going well. I know you will have worked hard, and I encourage you to continue to work hard. You have always been a very bright girl, and I expect nothing less from you. You have the potential to do wonderful things.
When you wrote to me last, I read over your letter multiple times. I couldn't believe you were sorted into Ravenclaw. I will admit, it did take me aback since you are the first non-Slytherin since your triple-great grandmother. Your mother would like me to express her excitement, you know she is thrilled to even see you going to Hogwarts. She thinks you will do Ravenclaw proud. I have to agree with her, despite my disappointment. I had wished you would be Slytherin, but it would be foolish of me to admit that I am simply grateful you turned out to have magic.
I hope you have milled over how lucky you are to be there, as we both know the chances were slim until a few months back. I want you to keep that gratitude in mind every day, every time you want to slack off, or spend time frolicking instead of tending to your studies. Remember the fear you had months ago. Use it as a motive to succeed beyond all imagination. Use it as a reminder that magic is precious, and that to hone it, is a privilege. You have the privilege and honor, so respect it.
I hope you continue to honor your wisdom, and enjoy the rest of your first year. I will see you during the Holidays, if you wish to return home. I know I had wished to stay there during my holidays. Keep in touch, and study hard. Your mother sends her love, as do I.
With Love,
Father
Lennox smiled as she finished the letter. Not too shabby, dad, She thought to herself, folding the parchment back up. If you could believe it, this was a warm letter, perhaps one of the most civil interactions between herself and her father in years. This was a moment to bask in, and she did, all the way back to Ravenclaw.

People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care
