Stephan was born the second child in a small, wizarding family that consisted of Graham and Marie Wisniewski and a two-year-old Matthew, with newly arrived Stephan joining them. He took a lot after his father, Graham, inheriting his blue eyes and blond hair, while his older brother took more after his mother, sporting faded red hair and deep brown eyes. The family moved around quite a bit; the longest they had ever stayed in one place had been a few years and was very recently. His father always seemed to find better and better places to sell his trinkets, insisting they move when the tourist hot-spots changed. His mother usually complied, as they didn't have much to move and she didn't have much of a reason to stay in one place. The family finally settled down after his father opened up his own small shop, forcing them to stay near it.

As life finally settled down, Stephan found himself a couple of years through primary school and his brother a decent deal ahead of him. Stephan and Matthew were like two objects glued together that just couldn't seperate no matter how hard they tried. Matthew was the more serious out of both of them; he had already demonstrated his magical abilities and was just waiting for the day he would be old enough to attend a wizarding school. Stephan had not, constantly teasing his brother about being some dark mage that will lock himself away in a cabin in the forest, never to be seen again. Matthew would insult him back, especially in front of his friends, but the two still wouldn't seperate. Stephan would continue tag along and Matthew while sulks forward.

Stephan's first sign of magic came later than expected. His mother, who had magical abilities herself, started to worry when his ninth birthday came and went without any signs of it. Then his tenth birthday started to near and she began to wonder if he might just be a muggle like his father. While she herself didn't care whether or not he could perform magic, she cared about how he would feel. The second child and the child that can't do some little magic tricks like his older brother. Stephan secretly worried about that too. As much as he teased his brother, he did want to perform magic. He saw his mother do it all the time, even catching on the little things she threw his way to try to coerce the magic out of him. Those things just made him feel stupid. He knew he should be doing something magical when they happened, but he could only stand there, doing nothing.

His first performance of magic finally came the night right before his 10th birthday. Stephan's aunt had drove in to celebrate and with her, she had brought her black cat, Olive. She had stepped out of her car with the cat in her arms and knocked on the door to their house. When Marie came out and hugged her, the cat fell out of her arms and started to run. Stephan, being right behind his mother when this happened, started to chase it. The chasing only spurred it to go faster and faster. At one moment, the cat had almost trailed out of his sight. Concentrating as hard as he could on the cat, he soon saw it stop. Then, it started to move a meter or so backward, its claws digging into the ground, trying to prevent it from moving back anymore, before it started running again. So caught up in the moment, Stephan ran back to tell his mother he did magic, forgetting the cat was even missing. They never ended up finding the cat.

Soon enough, just like his brother had, he got an acceptance letter from Hogwarts, a wizarding school for magical students from the British Isles. He was sent off to study magic, something his family worried he might never get to do.
