The doors to the library swings open as fresh air enters the room. In through the doors comes Olivia, gently skipping along as her eyes widen in awe at the rows upon rows of books and scrolls, her hair bouncing up and down in a ponytail as she starts looking through the aisles, trying to navigate to the section she requires for the day. In her left hand she is clutching a gray, small rounded rock.

Oli looks between the shelves in the section she has found herself in. O... P... Q! There it is! Oli's blue gaze wanders the Q-section, looking for any books relating to the subject she was about to spend hours studying; Quidditch. From what little she had seen and heard about it, it seemed very similar to soccer. Though in the air. With multiple balls... And three goals on each side. But surely it was not that different?

Eventually finding a few books on the subject, Olivia brings them with her, under her right arm, over to one of the tables, sitting down and placing the books upon the table, opening the very top one. She huffs slightly to herself, gripping the book with her right hand and gently placing the rock she was clutching onto the table before both hands are occupied with the book. Sports is not really a strong subject of hers, but perhaps if she understood it better, all the intimate details about the sport then perhaps she would find a stronger interest in it.

Whenever the large doors to the library opens, Olivia hides behind her book with her eyes barely poking over the top of it to look at whomever has walked in or out, before swiftly returning to read once her curiosity has been satisfied.

The library. A place where Avery had always felt at home. Even in her darkest moments. She didn't know why she felt so strongly about the place. Maybe it was the sense of security that she felt when she was surrounded by books, or maybe it was because of the crisp pages beneath her fingers as she read and the scent of old books lingering.

The library was practically empty as Avery slowly opened the door. There was only one other girl there. She was younger than Avery and the Ravenclaw logo flashed on her robes. Avery smiled at that. It seemed as if she had met more and more Ravenclaws as of late. Maybe that was because her boyfriend was part of them. That meant she spent more time with Ravenclaws she hadn't met before.

Avery wasn't going to bother the girl at first. It wasn't until she saw the book. It was a book Avery herself had read in the past. One that she thoroughly enjoyed.

"That's a good book you have there. Mind if I sit down?" Avery asked the younger girl.

If the girl didn't want her company, Avery wouldn't mind. She would happily give the girl her space and read her own book and complete the rest of her assignments. If the girl did want her to sit down, then Avery would happily take a seat and hopefully have a good chat.

Olivia's gaze peers over the top of her book as she looks upon the girl that entered the library. Noticing her looking back over at Oli, she inhales as she raises her book ever so slightly up to cover her eyes, hoping the other girl had not noticed her stare. Footsteps followed, echoing between the shelves and the room, and Olivia closes her eyes in a silent prayer before opening them to find the girl now stood by her desk. So much for studying and relaxing away from all the people that she kept bumping into.

"That's a good book you have there. Mind if I sit down?" the girl asks her. Olivia slowly lowers her book down to rest it on the table while still holding it upright. Her gaze travels to meet Avery's gaze, before she looks around the room at all the empty chairs spread around. Why would the girl want to sit with her? She is just sat here studying. The girl has clearly already read the book Olivia is reading, so perhaps it would be a chance to ask questions and get to learn what she wishes to learn faster? Olivia nods slowly. "Okay."

Waiting for the girl to have a seat by her desk, Olivia gently moves the small stack of books she had brought to the corner of the desk, then she moves her little rock to rest upon it, making space for Avery. Oli looks to the middle of the desk for a few moments before she inhales deeply, then looks to Avery. It was now or never. Ask now or it will not happen. And taking her shot, Olivia fires off with questions. "Why does Quidditch have three goals on each side of the field? Soccer only has one on each side," a slight pause to breathe. "And why so many different balls? Surely the quaffle and the golden snitch would have sufficed?" She cants her head a bit.

Avery sat down and dumped her book bag on the ground beside her. Leaning back into the seat, she made herself comfortable with a smile on her face. The young Ravenclaw was shy. Avery had noticed that with how she had slowly peered over the top of her book and her soft-spoken okay filled the air.

Avery thought about the question Olivia had asked for a moment. As a Quidditch player, having three goals and four different balls was like second nature to her. Something she had never thought of deeply before. Finally satisfied with the answer she had thought out Avery spoke, "Good question. Though as a Quidditch player, I've never thought about that. There are three goals on each side of the field because it adds a better chance for someone to at least make one goal which scores higher points. As far as the different balls, well, I guess you could say it adds just the right amount of spice to the game. Especially the bludgers." Avery laughed.

Bludgers were nasty. Avery knew that well. She had been hit by the cursed balls many times as a Quidditch player. "Those bludgers make the game interesting. If the game was safe and had low risk, then no one would enjoy watching it. Though I will say I wish they didn't hit so hard. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone to be hit by a bludger." Avery sighed.

"Anyways, I don't think I introduced myself at all. I'm Avery Gray. And you are?" Avery slapped her hand across her face internally. Externally she looked cool, collected, and hopefully friendly. She blamed her lack of manners on the question about Quidditch. It was one of the many topics that could get her talking for hours. That and aurors.

Avery wondered if the younger girl had an interest in Quidditch. It was rare for her to find someone not on the pitch learning about the sport. Avery herself had trained a handful of the Quidditch players she either played alongside or competed against. Though if it hadn't been for her teacher whom she hadn't seen since their last match together nearly a year ago, Avery would probably have never joined Quidditch.

That meant that she never would have found her zeal for the sport. She would have been a completely different Avery. A side that Avery herself would not have recognized.

Olivia watches the girl intensely as she sits down. Oli does not return the smile, though she does not seem angry or upset either. More cautious and curious. As Avery takes her time to consider the question and then eventually answer it, Olivia nods slightly in understanding. "Hm. That makes sense. It would perhaps be slightly boring if the sport was just football but in the sky." The sport still does not seem that interesting, though that might just be because sports is not something Olivia in general find much interest in.

As the topic of bludgers comes up, Olivia frowns slightly. "People watch the sport simply to watch other people get hurt? That sounds silly." She returns her gaze into her book, reading a few more lines before she looks back to Avery. "I am Olivia." Whether it was a pleasure or not was yet to be decided. Some of the students have a tendency to seem nice at first but then suddenly they change up and become very disruptive in various ways. "Thank you for answering my question." She reaches into her own backpack and fishes out a lollipop which she places on the desk in front of Avery, something she had learned in various classes. Students tend to be more willing to answer questions if they are bribed with sweets.

Olivia lets the silence fill the library once more as she flips a page in her book, her eyes running down the page before moving over to the next page, then over to Avery. "Do I have to learn quidditch while I attend Hogwarts?" Her blue gaze rests upon the other girl. If she had to learn it, then she would put her mind to it. Though if there was no need for her to learn quidditch and join the house team, then that was more than fine with her. It would simply mean more time to study more interesting subjects such as transfiguration and history of magic.

Avery nodded. Though the word football had her caught up. Mikey had explained an overview of the sport to her over owls and had promised they would pray sometime once they had gotten back to Hogwarts, but that didn't mean she understood. "You say football. I know a bit about it, but could you explain to me what it is?"

Avery laughed lightly. "Well, I guess you could put it that way, but the thrill and rush of adrenaline while watching or even playing is even better. Honestly I would say broom racing is more for people that enjoy violent games. It can get quite messy." Avery smiled remembering the first ever game she had watched in order to cheer on her friend, Colin.

"Anytime. If you ever have any other questions, don't feel bad to ask them! Hogwarts is a special place, and when you're not used to it, well, it can get confusing."

There was silence for a moment. Not the uncomfortable silence. No. It was a comfortable silence. One that didn't feel as if both parties didn't want to be there. Rather, it was confirmed that one was more than happy to be there.

"No, you don't have to learn it if you don't want to. Sports are just something I do to pass the time. I spent the first half of my first year without a sport, and it was good for me. I learned a lot during that time. Though the door is always open if you ever want to do a sport." Avery smiled. Remembering back to when she had first started Quidditch. She had been terrible and had barely stayed on her broom long enough to even find the snitch. She had changed a lot since then. That was part of growing up.

Olivia tilts her head slightly after Avery asks her to explain what football is. While she knew more about it than quidditch, she was not much of a sports person either way, so she did not really know that much about football either. "Well.. Each team has a goal. And then there is like.. Five or seven players on the field for each team, one of them being the goalkeeper. And then they kick the one ball back and forth and try to score on the opposing teams goal." She nods a little to herself, agreeing with her own explanation. "But sometimes they throw the ball with their hands if they are the keeper, or if the ball went outside of the playing field but not on the shorter side where the goals are." She shrugs slightly, hoping the explanation was enough.

Oli smiles briefly to Avery. "I see. Would dueling not be more dangerous and violent? Seeing as the goal is to defeat your opponent instead of scoring on a goal or crossing a line first?" She tilts her head once more, one of her fingers lingering on the last word she had read in the book, not daring to lose track of where she was in the reading. Occasionally she would look around in the library trying to make sure that the conversation between herself and Avery was not too loud or distracting for other students trying to study.

Avery was fascinated by the mysterious muggle sport called football. Yes, Mikey had mentioned the sport through their summer letters, but he had never actually spoken about how the game worked or what it was. Maybe that was why she was so interested in learning about the sport.

"How fascinating! I had no idea there was even a game like that! I mean, I've heard of the game, but never actually knew what it meant until now. Thanks for educating me." Avery smiled.

Avery thought for a moment. She knew dueling was dangerous. She herself had seen that through watching her friend Emily when the girl used to be on the official Hufflepuff team. It had been gruesome to watch as people purposefully attacked each other with nasty spells they otherwise would probably never use on another person.

"Well, dueling is a gruesome sport. It takes a whole other person that can withstand the pain and stay standing in order to lead their team to victory. I don't even want to imagine it more dangerous and violent than it already is." Avery shivered. The memory still clear in her mind of what had gone down that day. It was awful.
