It has been now some weeks since the end of the Winter break and again the beginning of the classes as Rose was already drowning under homework. She was spending most of her free time after class in the library except for today. Indeed she needed some fresh air and to be alone. Right after her last class she quickly headed towards the Great Lake to a spot not many students were coming ensuring no one could come disturbing her. If she wanted to be alone that day it wasn't because she wanted to avoid studying but more out of tiredness and seeing too many people at once.
As soon as she reached her nook Rose let herself immersed into the atmosphere surrounding her. The sound of the wind, the birds chirping helped her to feel more at peace and less anxious. The view of the still frozen lake in front of her reflecting the sun lights was beautiful. The trees on the opposite bank were still covered with a thin layered of snow giving it a marvellous appearance. Hopefully the weather was not too cold today making enjoyable to be out and to take a small walk as Rose was planning to.
She slightly closed her eyes to feel her breathing and calm it along her heart beat that raced because of her quick pace to come here and her nervousness from earlier. At the thoughts she slightly frowned not exactly knowing what happened for her to feel this anxious.
While opening her now teary eyes she decided it was better not to think about earlier anymore as she felt tears rolling over her face before she looked down and quickly wiped them off. She wasn't even sure why she was crying but Rose didn't want to. She didn't wish others to know she had been crying nor anyone seeing her crying although she doubted no one would here.
Her light green eyes fell again on the lake which was lightly sparkling due to the sun's rays. A fresh wind came brushing Rose's rosy cheeks as she let the little warmth of sun lights warming her face.
It was a day like Rose liked. Fresh but not cold. Sunny but a bit cloudy. And no one around.
Everything she needed right now to feel better after her tiring day.
“She looked towards the dark, starry sky wishing she could drown in its vastness, the way one drifts in the deep, endless ocean.”

It was cold, but she felt the need to be outside for some fresh air. Most students were inside the warmth of the Common Room. It was too crowded, too loud for her liking. Frankly, she felt claustrophobic. Besides, who doesn't like a little hypothermia?
She had invited a few of her friends to come with her, but they made excuses and told her to go alone for now and that they would join her later. She highly doubted they would keep true to their word, but she decided to go anyway. Even if they didn't come, the view of the gorgeous frozen lake and the mountains was breathtaking to look at anyway.
Jennie strolled around near the edge of the lake, her usually chaotic nature tamed by the calmness of the scenery. She rarely ever felt calm as her mind was loud—always thinking, always dreaming. However, right now, she felt her thoughts fading like they never existed in the first place.
She walked and walked until she reached a rather quiet corner. Jennie had never really gotten to explore the lake all that well, so this was a new scenery for her. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed something—or rather, someone— walking a little ahead of her. Jennie wondered how she almost missed an entire other person who wasn't even far away. Perhaps it was because she had let down her guard?
The said person was a Ravenclaw girl. As the girl turned to look at the lake, Jennie noticed a faint glimmer in her eyes, as if she was crying before. She suddenly felt the need to talk to her, assuming she maybe needed a little company.
Jennie approached her curiously and called out.
"Hi there!" She called out, her familiar cheerfulness making its presence known. "What are you doing out here alone? You good?"────────────────────────☆────────────────────────

Rose facing the lake and regaining her composure as if nothing earlier had happened was about to go on with her walk around the lake when she heard noises behind her. The ground was still covered with a thin layer of snow making audible any sounds of someone or something walking on it. The snow was crunching. However Rose decided not to pay attention to the sound as she wanted to be alone and thought it might be her imagination. Indeed who would come to this part of the lake anyways? And in Winter? Yet anyone who had never come here Winter or not was missing something out since the landscape looked breathtaking.
Daring not to turn around to check whether someone was behind her or not she preferred to stay in denial of the possible presence of someone and to completely ignore it as she started to walk again.
But that was without taking into account the sound following her.
So someone is really here? And on top of that today? Rose wondered herself a bit annoyed that someone may come disturbing her little peace. However she wouldn't let that happen.
Indeed she kept ongoing as if she were alone.
Nevertheless her hopes got too high and were soon enough broken into million pieces when a voice came to Rose's ears. It was a voice girl. Despite her voice being rather joyful and her nice words Rose rolled her eyes in annoyance as she really didn't want to talk to anyone even less to a stranger coming out of nowhere disturbing her quiet time. Especially when she needed it the most.
It was really unlike Rose who was usually a cheerful optimistic person and always open to meet and talk to new people. She felt a bit bad and sorry for the girl to have walked into her on a day like that but she was in no mood and couldn't fake it like she was used to do.
Finally Rose turned around to face the girl while letting out a big sigh making sure the girl would hear it and put on a blank face. Also really unlike her who were used to smile all the time.
Nevertheless she didn't have a choice but to answer to the girl yet on a rather cold tone without even greeting her back.
"I'm fine thank you. And I'm doing nothing." she only said before turning around to start walking again hoping the girl wouldn't insist and let her alone.

Outfit:ReducioGryffindor robes Mention:Reducio@Rose Pearce────────────────────────☆────────────────────────Jennie was quite stunned by the girl's response. So cold! Almost as cold as the climate! She could hear the annoyance in her voice, but she simply chose to ignore it, following the girl close behind as she began walking again.
The Ravenclaw was quite wrong to think that coldness would drive Jennie away. In fact, it made her ten times more curious. She caught up to her and began walking beside her. She stayed quiet for a while, tilting her head as she studied the girl's face. Jennie could tell that she was right in thinking that the green-eyed girl had been crying before. As annoyingly persistent as she was, she was also quite observant.
Jennie found the girl's face familiar, so she was sure that she was a first-year as well. Ravenclaw and Gryffindor first-years had Herbology classes together after all. However, that wasn't what made her curious. She remembered seeing the girl with a cheerful smile on her face, but now? It was gone.
"We have classes together, you know? Herbology?" Jennie spoke up. "I remember you." She paused, waiting for a response. Then on realising that the girl was actively ignoring her, she continued. "Hmm, I can't seem to remember your name though...Something with an 'R', I think...Riley? Reina?"
It felt she was speaking for the both of them. She kept rambling, but now more to herself than to the girl. Jennie suddenly seemed to realise that she was speaking too much and smiled sheepishly. "Still no smile? Oh come on, I remember thinking your smile was pretty cute." Jennie grinned, trying to elicit a smile from her.────────────────────────☆────────────────────────

Before she went on walking Rose didn't even take the time to look at the girl's reaction nor just the girl -as she had no idea what she looked like- nor to wait for a response from her. She wanted to be alone and hoped her cold tone made that clear enough. Rose thinking she was left alone started to feel at ease again as her face was going to relax a bit when she felt a presence next to her and walking sounds. Her eyes slightly widened. That couldn't be. Was this girl really walking next to her even after Rose's way of speaking to her?
Rose couldn't help but frowned and got even more annoyed. Among every kind of personality existing on earth she had to face the most sticky and persistent person she could have found. Was the universe against her for not letting her to be alone as she wanted?
It couldn't be true. The only day she wished to be alone she couldn't be.
Although the girl was walking next to Rose she has not yet spoken again and Rose hoped it would remain like this. That after a time a long silence the girl would eventually leave seeing Rose wouldn't talk neither. Nevertheless Rose was feeling eyes watching her.
What was this girl's problem analysing people like this?
Rose was well-placed to judge when she was usually doing the same. Indeed she was often looking at her peers scanning and analysing them. Was it how they felt whenever she was doing it?
So annoying. she thought.
Rose sighed again. As long as the girl was not talking Rose didn't mind as she would just act as if no one was next to her. She wished.
Not soon after the young girl started to speak again to Rose's great delight.
God can't she mind her own business? Rose's face showed the utmost boredom.
She had no idea who the girl was, which House she was coming from nor what she looked like. How could she know if they had a class together? And talking about classes was the last thing Rose wanted to talk about if she were to finally speak up.
Ignoring her Rose expected that would show her disinterest in having any discussions with this girl. Silence speaks louder than words. But once more it didn't stop the girl who kept up on going about what was Rose's name. That was the last straw to finish upsetting Rose. At least if she were stating to remember her she could have had her name right. It was not as if Rose was a hard name to remember. Too annoyed to make any comments about it nor to give her right name Rose only rolled her eyes before quickening her pace.
But the girl was not yet letting go. How could Rose be able to smile when she wanted to be alone and someone was ruining her moment. That would be the last thing she would do.
At that time Rose only gave a cold death looking gaze to the girl next to her giving her light green eyes a darker and more serious expression than ever. She believed that would show her complete lack of desire to smile or answer any of the questions asked.
Usually Rose would have smiled at this kind of statements especially if someone were to compliment her smile which until now had never happened. Nevertheless she appreciated it yet without showing it any ways. For now she was just too bothered by the girl's presence so whatever she may say was only adding on to Rose's nerves.
What could she do for the girl to get it?
Rose was not a mean nor an unpleasant person rather she was thinking about and caring for the well-being of others before her own. But for the first time in her life she didn't care about someone else's feelings nor what could be thought of her for behaving this way.
Was she becoming mean? Heartless? Selfish?
Rose abruptly stopped walking a slight frown forming between her eyebrows mixed with an evident worry over her face.
“She looked towards the dark, starry sky wishing she could drown in its vastness, the way one drifts in the deep, endless ocean.”

Outfit:ReducioGryffindor robes Mention:Reducio@Rose Pearce────────────────────────☆────────────────────────This was tougher than usual. Jennie was surprised that the girl hadn't opened her mouth to tell her to shut up yet. Instead of doing so, she was pretending like she didn't exist! For half a second, she debated whether she should just leave her alone, but of course, her stubborn self refused to take to admit defeat.
Jennie quickened her pace to walk beside her again. She stayed quiet for a while again, trying to think of ways to melt the girl down. That was when the girl turned to give Jennie a glare that was cold enough to make her shiver. She didn't know that a person, especially a 11-year-old, could look so grim and serious. Did her not remembering her name upset her that much or something?
"Is this about not remembering your name? You know, I have a horrible memory. It really isn't personal..." She said, her voice a little quieter. Jennie didn't blame the girl for being cold. She probably wanted her to shut up but just didn't want to say it. That being said, Jennie just couldn't leave the mysterious girl alone.
Jennie's head tilted a little more as she noticed the girl's shoulders relaxing the slightest bit at her compliment. Her eyes lit up at the observation. She liked her compliment! She wondered how upset the girl really must be to not react to a compliment even if she had liked it.
She was about to start speaking again when the girl abruptly stopped in her tracks. Jennie turned around and looked at the girl. Replacing the cold look on her face, a small frown made its way to her face. Jennie was confused.
"What's...wrong?" She asked.────────────────────────☆────────────────────────

For a few seconds that appeared hours Rose thought she was going to cry again. She lowered her head to hide her face from the girl next to her. To her previous anxiety was now adding meanness and selfishness: all she was despising. It was not who she was or she wanted to be. Yet now she felt that were the only emotions that could describe her. Her behaviour towards the girl that had probably come to her out of kindness was shameful.
Was her desire to be alone that strong she could become another person than she was?
If it were one of her friends or her best friend would have Rose been that cold? Probably not. Indeed she would have explained them she wanted to be alone for awhile that she needed it and they would have understood her. However she didn't say anything alike to the girl who was now next to her. Deep down Rose knew she couldn't say to someone she didn't know to leave her alone as being cold and distant were easier. Most of the time it was working and people were giving up and leaving. But this one didn't seem to take any clues on Rose's desire to be left alone.
Rose was not good at saying things like that to people. She didn't want to be mean. Yet didn't she appear to be already?
Slowly Rose raised her head to look in front of her reflecting on her thoughts and what she should do or rather what she should say. Her light green eyes a bit reddened by her crying from earlier and her possible upcoming tears that were to the edge of rolling down her rosy cheeks finally looked at the girl. It was the first time she was taking a glance from her. By her robe Rose noticed she was from the Gryffindor house. She was tall -taller than Rose- and had black wavy hair with dark blue eyes behind a pair of glasses the girl was wearing. Rose who was trying to remember the Gryffindor girl from their Herbology class as she had previously stated. Indeed Rose may have seen her time to time and now she was feeling even more ashamed to have to cross path again with someone she didn't know much and above all with who she had been acting the way she did until now.
After some minutes Rose snapped back to reality realising she had been staring at the girl longer than expected. Ironic when she was the one to complain about it when the Gryffindor student did it. She turned her head to look at the gorgeous view of the frozen lake and hills surrounding them. She contemplated the girl's company and whether to share her feelings and emotions. Then she remembered that would probably not make her feel any better and that she had no idea how to do it. Plus after being this cold wasn't it too easy to just start talking about what was on her mind?
Her gaze turned back to the girl before only two words came out of Rose's mouth.
"Leave me." This time no coldness was heard in her voice. Mostly a sort of distress reflecting her will to be alone but also the shame of her behaviour. She started walking again.
These words were easier said than sharing feelings and thoughts.

Outfit:ReducioGryffindor robes Mention:Reducio@Rose Pearce────────────────────────☆────────────────────────Jennie was quite taken aback when the girl stopped suddenly. The Ravenclaw turned around and stared at her. What surprised Jennie was the look on her face. It wasn't that cold, vacant expression anymore. There was something more in her eyes. She thought she saw the glimmering increase—as if she was about to cry again.
She watched the emotions play out behind her eyes. The girl looked conflicted, as if debating something in her mind. The tears in her eyes became more prominent the longer she stared. Did Jennie upset her that much? She had only meant to cheer her up...
It was clear that Jennie was an oblivious person. Smart, but with the naivety of a 11-year-old girl. She was good at comforting people usually, in fact, her friends came to her for advice a lot. The problem was that she didn't know when to leave someone alone. Like right now, the Ravenclaw needed some time alone. However, the only thing going through Jennie's mind is "How can I cheer her up?", so unintentionally, she came off as inconsiderate.
The girl turned her gaze towards the gorgeous scenery. Jennie's eyes eyebrows raised in surprise as she finally spoke up, simply asking her to leave her alone. It wasn't cold, just a quiet request. She suddenly felt guilty, finally realising that she had caused more distress rather than repair it. The shorter girl began walking again without so much as another backward glance.
"Hey...!" She called out again, her voice softer and more hesitant. "I'm sorry if I upset you! I...I'll leave you alone but if you want to, feel free to talk to me...!" Jennie kept her distance, not wanting to upset the girl anymore.
Then she turned around and obliged to the girl's wish as she began walking back to the school.────────────────────────☆────────────────────────

Rose had started to walk again after she asked the girl to leave her alone. It was true she wanted to be alone but at the same time she couldn't help feeling bad to have rejected someone who was only being genuinely kind. Rose would have probably done the same and in other circumstances appreciated it. In fact she did appreciate the girl's kindness deep down but it was easier not to admit it to herself. That way she was also convincing herself she didn't need any company and someone to share her thoughts with.
But who really wants to remain alone when they would need someone to talk to?
It was probably certain that Rose did need to talk to someone. Not that she didn't want to but how to. It could easily be perceived as kind of complaining or that her feelings and thoughts were not worthy enough to be shared as it was not something proper say serious. Many people had worries and troubles so hers were certainly minimal among all. Thus she was also scared of not being understood and being laughed at. She knew how kids could be mean when she was in school before getting to Hogwarts. Yet she had grown up and others too so perhaps maturity was starting to appear. If the Gryffindor girl had come despite seeing her in the state Rose was she surely wanted to help her feeling better.
Rose her mind full of thoughts didn't realise no one was walking next to her anymore nor behind her as she couldn't hear any others walking sounds in the snow than hers. She was about to stop when she heard the girl's voice raising again stating to leave Rose alone yet still offering to be a listening ear. Rose stopped. Why was this girl being this nice?
Probably because of her sensitive state Rose's eyes got teary. If the girl had been trying to cheer her up and help her to open up that was certainly not to make fun of her. Maybe she wouldn't understand but just being listened to was likely enough. Rose ignored her and talked to her with such a cold voice whereas the young girl always kept her nice and cheerful voice when she could have got annoyed as well.
Rose turned around only to see the girl walking. She was probably getting back to the castle.
She thought she upset me. To be fair it was not quite wrong but Rose was already feeling on the nerves full of anxiety making her more sensitive than she already was.
"Wait..." she quietly said. Obviously no one could hear her. Rose started to walk fast almost running behind the girl.
"Wait...I'm sorry I didn't mean to reject you or to be unkind.." Rose told the girl louder ensuring to be heard. It was true she didn't mean to be mean but she eventually ended up acting so.
Rose was getting closer to the girl walking as she stopped to catch her breath.
"I was just feeling down and overwhelmed by everyone at the castle and in classes. It made me anxious and nervous..." Rose confessed looking away a bit embarrassed as she almost whispered the last sentence.
She didn't plan on telling the truth but words just came out. From now she hoped it was going to help her feeling better.
“She looked towards the dark, starry sky wishing she could drown in its vastness, the way one drifts in the deep, endless ocean.”
