Potions class.

Blaize had attended a few of these by now, and it was always grueling. He had refused to make friends in the class, as that was not what class was for, so he often got stuck with random incompetent first years. More times than not, he'd have to verbally scold them to avoid them burning themselves or exploding something and ending up in the Hospital Wing and never even got a thank you from it.

Pulling himself out of the foul mood he was in, he'd flip the page in his book he was supposed to be reading, the sound of other book pages ruffling in the mostly quiet room. His gaze lifted from the massive book to scan the room, not interested in reading about ingredients he had likely worked with since he could walk.

Being from a large potion-making family none of this stuff piqued his interest. That being said, he wasn't necessarily as gifted at it as were his parents and younger sister, but nonetheless the reading and logic of Potions came easy to him. Don't do this, you won't end up hurt was the main gist he got from it at young age, but that didn't stop his family from forcing it down his throat. Maybe he was just slow on the uptake. His sister would've got a kick out of saying that to his face.

As the professor's voice made its way back towards him and told them to close their books, he'd shift his weight from resting his chin in his palm to move the textbook off to the side. A lazy eyeroll escaped him as the professor went over yet again potion-making etiquette and some students scrambled to get their materials together. Blaize flicked the crystal phial in front of him, a sharp *ting* noise chiming back at him. And finally, the dreaded words reached his ears.

"Find a partner and begin!"

A scoff escaped from the fiery red head. He turned his cool gray gaze around the room as chatter rose abruptly and students began to clump. One way or another someone would drift to him, as he refused to seek others out. Someone would have to get desperate enough. He'd stretch back his arms, bumping into something, or rather someone. Everything else was cold and hard in the room, this was not. He'd turn his head a bit, eyebrows raising as his mouth opened to say something only to be halted by a presence. A pale face with vivid green eyes and dark glossy hair to pull together the whole look belonged to none other than a young witch he'd never laid eyes on before. How intriguing. Maybe she blended in with the gloomy shadows of the classroom. He hadn't worked with her before, yet he could tell she wasn't meek by any means, perhaps her looks made her slightly off-putting or challenging. Either way, he wasn't afraid, as soon as she opened her mouth it was over. Best to just keep it shut and listen to directions; those were the type of partners he liked best. Instead of typical introductions, of which he wasn't good at anyways, he'd merely side-step a bit to allow her room at the workbench, bringing his arms back to his side.

"Well c'mon then, we don't have all class, you have your equipment?"

Evaline was pissed. Today was a bad day. She woke up late, since she slept...hm, perhaps 3 hours the previous night.

She got ready fast, yanking on her scuffed Prada loafers, and grabbed her black and pink leather messenger back, covered in tiny lace bows. She got a look of herself in the mirror, and pulled her glossy black and pink waves into a claw clip. She winked at herself in the mirror - something she couldn't possibly leave without doing- and then sprinted to Potions class like the devil himself was after her.

When she was in, charms class, she barely listened to the professor, rather spun her quill around, and almost knocked over her vial of ink. Crap. After that, she decided to try and sit still, ( something she really could never do). She shook her leg, played with her hair, spun her quill, basically everything besides actually paying attention.

When the professor said, " Find a partner and begin!", she cursed under her breath. As she watched everyone pair up, she stretched, and yawned, her arm bumping into someone. She really didn't care, and she made no move to apologize as she tilted her head to see who was lucky enough to bump into her.

The first thing that came to her mind, was fire. The boys hair was like fire. The second thing that came to her mind was, annoying and cocky. The kid was looking at her, and he side stepped expectedly. Ew.

"Well c'mon then, we don't have all class, you have your equipment?" The fire-boy said arrogantly.

Evaline rolled her eyes right then and there. " Atrocious. No thank you." She muttered, her eyes scanning the chamber for anyone, literally anyone else to work with. Everyone else was in pairs. She groaned internally and popped a blood-pop into her mouth, something she did when she had to deal with imbeciles, much like now.

" Fine, moron."

" I don't care what you think, as long as it's about me"

The girl did not seemingly want to cooperate. As soon as the words slipped from Blaize's lips her face turned sour. As in her lips puckered up as though she sucked on a lime, and her nose scrunched into the look of distaste he had seen so many times on his younger sister's. Girls and their emotions. Yeesh.

It was his turn for his face to give away a look of bewilderment as she uttered out a phrase directed towards him, while her eyes seemingly turned elsewhere. Was he not good enough for her? Apparently not, but she would have to make due, as the boy watched her slap a blood-pop into her mouth and saunter over. Hopefully she'd choke on the stick or it would at least shut her up for the duration of the lesson.

"Lovely, thank you for wasting several valuable minutes in the only class that is time sensitive. Blaize Valerian, your partner." He'd hum out a brief introduction after a snarky comment, slamming his book open to the required page, his finger sliding down the page until he came to the step-by-step instructions.

"Do you want to get the ingredients or stir as we put them in? Whatever you think you won't mess up on. But to be fair, you couldn't be worse than some of them."

He'd tilt his head over to a group a few seats away to the potion that started quite literally smoking, causing the students to flap their robes in an attempt to clear the air. A very unhappy Professor Asmaralaya came over to supervise them. A small, amused chuckle escaped him. Yeah, it could be worse, but they had yet to get into anything difficult. He doubted this class would be difficult for him maybe at all. Unless he got stuck with bad partners. Or at least until the dreaded OWLs and NEWTs he heard about from whispers in the dorm rooms, but that was ages away. The perks of coming from a potion-making family, he could flaunt his stuff, but only if he really needed or wanted to.
