Book-napping
It was an unusually sunny day in early October. But despite that, Olivia Williams found herself indoors, in the library to be exact. It was calm and quiet since most of the other students were spending the day outdoors on what might be the last warm day of the year.
Olivia wandered among the shelves and automatically found herself in the magical creatures section. During her first year, she had managed to read a considerable amount of the books there. She ran her finger over the old book spines, looking for something interesting that could pass the time a little.
Finally, her gaze landed on a book she had never seen before. “Creatures of the Night,” it was called. Olivia picked it up and coughed at the large cloud of dust that spread as she opened to the table of contents.
Thestrals, werewolves, boggarts, and mooncalves were just a few that were mentioned. The chapter on werewolves in particular caught Olivia’s eye and she quickly flipped to the right page. As usual, werewolves were portrayed as bloodthirsty beasts that should be exterminated for good. She snorted and slammed the book shut again.
There were many things she didn’t like, but this she loathed. She pushed the book back onto the shelf without glancing at it. Her eyes flew across the shelves and landed on another book.
“Thestrals, Monsters or Misunderstood?” it was called. She reached for the book and was about to grab it when another hand came before hers and took it down.
“Hey!” she said, turning around. "That one was mine."

Book-napping
He had come into the library to finish his Potions homework he and to search for a book on thestrals that wasn’t biased. It was quiet as it was a rare sunny day in October so every one was outside so it was easy to find a tale to sit at the table he chosen was deliberate as he always sat there if it was free but all it was near the books on magical creatures so he could easily search for books on Thestrals but as he opened every one all he could see was the word monsters he was about to give up when he noticed a book ‘Thestrals, Monsters, or Misunderstood’ his well practiced and whipped it of the shelf and he could already smell one of the best smells in his opinion the smell of an old book he was about to turn to a chapter called ‘Thestrals hiding themselves from most humans are they preserving themselves or waiting to kill’ when he heard a voice
”Hey that one was mine”
He turned around and a person came into view they looked maybe a year older than him
”Who are you anyway I got it first”

“My name is Olivia Williams and you’re going to give me that book,” Olivia said, extending her hand. “I saw it first.” She studied the Ravenclaw standing in front of her. He was definitely a first year.
“Why do you want it anyway? It’s not like you can see Thestrals,” she said then, realizing how insensitive that sounded. She took a breath and let her brain catch up. “Okay, this started a little too sharply. My name is Olivia Williams, what’s your name?” she asked, extending her hand. “And can you tell me why you want this particular book even though I saw it first.”
After shaking his hand, she crossed her arms and leaned on one leg. She was taller than him, and it made her feel powerful after all. “You first year don’t have much homework. Why aren’t you outside with your little friends and looking at the giant squid?” she asked, raising an eyebrow. “Or maybe you’re not paying attention in class and have a lot of catching up to do?” she added teasingly.
She waited for his answer, looking around the classroom in case anyone was eavesdropping on them. But there was only a lone sixth-year student sitting in a corner sleeping, nearby.
“Why do you want it anyway? It’s not like you can see Thestrals,” she said then, realizing how insensitive that sounded. She took a breath and let her brain catch up. “Okay, this started a little too sharply. My name is Olivia Williams, what’s your name?” she asked, extending her hand. “And can you tell me why you want this particular book even though I saw it first.”

“Cat got your tongue?” Olivia asked, raising an eyebrow. She studied Nick and then smiled, a warm little smile. “You know what? We share the book, we can read it together.” She gestured to the table behind them. “How about that?” she asked.
She understood very well that he might not have any friends. Olivia hadn’t had any at the beginning of her first year either. They settled down and she adjusted the sleeves of her knitted sweater. “Not much for sunny weather?” she asked Nick, trying to start a conversation.
She had gotten good impressions of the Ravenclaws she had stumbled into so far. She thought of Mikey and her thoughts drifted away for a moment before she came back to reality. “So, thestrals, you don’t think they are nasty beasts that portend death and bring misfortune with them?” she asked him, raising an eyebrow.
People's opinions about creatures like thestrals said a lot about the person themselves, so that's why Olivia was curious. "I personally think they're amazing and misunderstood creatures. "People hate them without knowing everything about them. They just have a bad reputation because of the death thing. "I can see thestrals myself. Can you?" she asked, even though she knew the subject was sensitive.

He waited for a reply then continued. “And the prejudice against thestrals is like werewolves, goblins and the relationship between some pureblood and Muggleborns there just different to us it’s the same with house-elves they can be treated abysmally by pure-blooded wizards. Also, with thestrals we don’t know anything about why they hide themselves from most wizards. They could be trying to survive not kill.I’m also interested in how they actually hide themselves from wizards, helping themselves survive in places like the forbidden Forest them hiding themselves by being invisible to most wizards is a bit more advanced version of how the majority of werewolves hide themselves underground.” He said,”Did you know that the Greenland Shark can live to over 500 years old and a bite from a king cobra can kill a small elephant.”
He stopped whilst he read part of the book
”What type of animals are you interested in”He noted that the 6th year was awaken and some Slytherin 7th years had entered the library
”Listen you have the book I’ve got transfiguration homework to do”
He toke out his parchment and quill and started writing
