Something was off when Bree woke up this morning. Just a feeling of dread in her stomach that something bad happened or was going to happen. But she couldn't really understand why. There weren't any upcoming tests that she didn't study for and would fail. As she picked at her memory for the past week, she couldn't find anything that would make her feel this way today. As she laid there and thought, she heard the other girls waking up and talking. Groaning quietly, Bree rolls onto her stomach and buries her face into the pillow, pretending to sleep. One of the girls in the dorm goes over to her to wake her up. Ignoring the girl, she finally gives up and leaves.

Once the dormitory turned silent and she couldn't hear anymore girls, she finally decided to get out of bed. Dragging herself out of bed and to her truck, she quickly throws on her school uniform and robes. Combing her hair, she decides to leave it as is. Finishing getting dressed she heads down to the great hall.

As she walks in she freezes at the door as a familiar brown blur comes swooping down at her. Holding out her hand, her mothers owl lands there. Bringing him closer to her, she takes the black envelope out of his mouth. Swallowing slightly, the sense of dread kn him stomach increases, almost making her want to throw up. Turning the envelope in her hand she recognized her mothers handwriting. Finally opening the letter she reads her name at the top, confirming that whatever is in this letter is indeed bad. Staring at the top shes remembers what her mother told her when her grandfather died. She just turned six then. Her parents were on okay terms then. Not knowing her grandfather well, she wasn't devastated about his death. Her mother told her that while writing a letter that's going to be heartbreaking, try to write the kindest words in the beginning but be brutally honest.

Someone shoves past her, snapping her out of the trance. Managing to catch herself before falling, she remembers that she needs to go to the Gryffindor table. After walking to what seemed 20 miles, she finally sits down. Getting a glass of pumpkin juice, she unfolds the letter and starts reading.
To my dearest Bree,
Date: January 14th 2026

I hope your doing fine before this letter has reached you. And that you take this lighter then I sense you would. The news I'm about to deliver to you is heartbreaking. And my baby girl, remember I'm always here if you need someone to lean on. I pray that at Hogwarts you have a friend that could help you through this right now.

Now you are probably wondering what the news is and how it be so bad. And as much as I would love to, I cannot sugar coat this. As I told you before, when deliver news to someone so terrible, no matter how much you want to you must say the whole truth. And I'm so terribly sorry to say but your grandmother has past. Unlike how we expected her to past, she died in a terrible car accident. She was on her way to see you father at work. She was coming from her muggle friend and while she was driving a drunk truck driver drove straight into her car. When the ambulance came and picked her up, she died.

As I said, I'm sorry for this. I will come and take you out from school if you like. I know this is going to be hard for you so please let me help.

Finishing the letter, she stares at it in shock. How? How could this happen? In her head, the words, "you grandmother has past" replays in her head. The description of her death comes to her mind vividly. As if she was watching it. Suddenly, she snaps. Yelling out no loudly, she drops the pumpkin juice, shattering the glass, causing everyone to turn around. Meeting the eyes of the students, her face flares up in embarrassment and anger. Standing up, she turns and flees the room.

Keegan flew out of bed his hair still a mop of messy brown curls as he cursed himself rubbing his eyes as he realized he had overslept and-probably- missed breakfast. "Fucking hell-," Keegan grumbled as he quickly threw on his hand-me-down school robes and ran his hand through his hair-which then he remembered he made the irrational decision to cut it last night because it had bothered him and was too itchy it probably looked terrible it was still scratchy anyways. He ignored the mirror and washed his face and started to make a run for the great hall. Maybe he hadn't missed breakfast and there was some leftovers he could eat. It used to be normal for him to not eat as much as a means to save money but now he found he was more grouchy without food after getting used to the lavish meals provided at Hogwarts and he did not want to miss breakfast. He stumbled over his feet as he made his way up the stairs to the great hall his footsteps loud with his boots-they echoed through the corridors as he panted to get to breakfast. He didn't even notice before he slammed into a girl who was running out of the great hall hands in her face. He stumbled back and tripped on his robes but caught himself before he fell and made him look like even more of an idiot.

"OOooughf-...Oi!!! Wat- the f-,"
The brash boy was about to cuss her out on his already bad morning before he realized the girl was crying? Keegan's eyes immediately softened and he didn't know what to do now his chestnut hair fell messily close to his concerned blue eyes. "Wat ta hell happened to yoo?"
