| There are a few places in this enormous castle that Cash avoids, not because of the location that they despised, but more of the memories that were associated with the said location. It had been ages since the green eyes last visited the Library. But today it was one of those rare occasions. The glitch in the matrix where the Sixth year stepped foot in the Library yet again.
Cash was there not because they wanted to borrow books from the Librarian. No. They were not that of a Ravenclaw, although their grade speaks differently. Perhaps deep inside them, Cash is a Ravenclaw since they are a straight O's student. But then again, if someone asked or called Cash a nerd, Cash could rebuke that person and tell them it is ambition.
It was why the Sorting Hat had put Cash in Slytherin in the first place. That and other reasons, too. Anyhow, back to why Cash was in the room between books and shelves. Cassh was there to make a compilation and notes for their Herbology assignments, and perhaps they were there to prep themselves for the NEWTs they will take.
Sure, Cash is a Sixth year, but it wasn't their choice to begin with. Cash needed to be withdrawn from the school for a year, but they were back now. Hence, they didn't in the same academic level as their peers. If people said Cash was over-prepared, the former Prefect of Slytherin would say it wasn't.
It is better to be over-prepared than under-prepared. And so, Cash had put down their enchanted satchel and marched toward where all books and parchments related to Herboly were stored in the shelves. But when Cash was about to reach the Herbology section of the Library. They had passed one of the study desks.
It was two tables down the hall and near the window. Cash traced their finger on the carved lettering on the wooden table. HWK Henry William Knight + PCI Phoenix Cassandra Ironwoods. The young socialite was surprised that the carving was still there. They thought that as years went by, some of the old study desks had been moved and replaced with the new ones.
But it seems Cash was wrong about it. The little act of vandalism occurred when both Cash and Henry were studying for a subject that Cash could not remember now. With a cautious and steady hand, also with the stealth of a ninja, Cash had carved the Slytherins initials into the table back when both of them were in their second year.
Cash swore that they could still remember and saw it vividly. All the laughter, secrets, and whispers that Cash once shared with Henry in the Library were echoing like a ghost that refused to move on to the afterlife. The memories played like a silent movie before their eyes, and without Cash realizing it, a single tear rolled onto their cheek.
The former Beater of Slytherin wiped the lone tear away from their cheek and took a deep breath. Cash, though they had gotten over Henry. Got over that memory and forgot all about the ocean blue eyes. But how could they when Cash and Henry are almost like a mirror. Where there was cash, Henry was there.
But Cash did not dwell on the memory for too long. The memory was there, but it had happened. It had been stored in the past and in the back of the young Ironwood's mind. The memory of the two once best friends, Slytherin, was nice when it lasted. But it didn't do them any good if they still hold on to that memory and past.
And so, Cash took a deep breath and continued their footsteps to the Herbology section of the shelves. Once Cash saw the title of the book that they wanted to read on the book's spine, Cash pulled it out from the shelf and walked back to the table with the book cracked open in their hand, unaware that they would bump into someone whom Cash least expected to be standing in front of their eyes.|

With a new professor to impress and the complete overload of work due to the holidays being over he simply had not had the time to getting closer to his goal. He was only a first year, and so much of his education was still ahead of him. That did not stop him from being bothered by the fact that there were more plants he was not allowed to touch than the number he could. He had finally reached a compromise. If he read up about some of the plants taught in later years, he might get to handle one or two under supervision. To Max this meant he would spend a few days in the library and then get to roam as he wished. The Herbology professor however would probably hope summer came before the subject was brought up again.
So Max found himself in the library. The room was grand with windows many enough. He could not help the fact that he still felt the space was stuffy. Even more so than the rest of the castle. Standing in front of the Herbology section he scanned all the titles. There were many. Which would prove more useful? One with large pictures and the info broken down as much as possible would serve best. He perused systematically, at least for a while. Opening and closing books here and there as well as skipping completely over many. At last he found a good one with a particularly interesting chapter on the Sopophorous plant. He had been itching to get his hands on one since he first saw it.
Clutching the book tight he made his way towards some study tables. The route he chose was of course not straight. A couple of books caught his attention on the way. The difference in texture was fascinating and he found himself smiling. The windows were next: Pressing his face up against most of them, as if the view would change depending on which window he looked through. Laughing a bit as a memory popped up he turned and walked straight into an older student coming from the opposite direction.
It startled him more than anything. Loosing his balance, he had to drop the book to stay on his feet. Β«Ow!Β» The response was a sign of automatic response rather than actual hurt which his tone very much supported. Reigning in his surprise he added a carefree Β«Oh, sorryΒ» with a small grin. Whose fault it was did not really matter. It was for sure his no matter what. Bending to pick up his book once more he glanced at the book the older student was holding open. Oh! Are you reading Herbology too? Thats great!Β» His smile grew impossibly large as he began slightly bouncing on his toes. Β«You donβt happen to have a minute to talk about the sopophorous plant, do you? I was going to read about it but I remember things way better when we talk about themΒ»

| A loud thud of book dropped to the floor of the Library could be heard as Cash unintentionally bumped into the other student as Cash about to returned to their studyingg nook inside the room. "Whoa! I'm so-"Cash apology died on their lips as the boy had beaten them to it. As the boy bent down to retrieve his book and stood straight up again in front of the green eyes, Cash had to blink their eyes several times.
The Sixth year needs to make sure that they are not dreaming. That their mind did not play tricks on them. In front of their very eyes stood a person who eerily resembled the one that Cash tried not to miss the most. "H..."They breathe out unconsciously and loud enough for the other boy to hear it.
The boy's lips moved, but Cash couldn't hear what he said, as Cash was still somewhat in a trance. The older student blinked their eyes again. Still trying to shake off the initial shock, if you could say that. It was not the first time that Cash had seen the ghost of Henry around the caster. But this time, it is too real and not just a figment of their imagination.
"Come again?"Cash said to the boy as they finally regrouped their bearings. Β«You donβt happen to have a minute to talk about the sopophorous plant, do you? I was going to read about it, but I remember things way better when we talk about them,Β» The boy said. Perhaps it was what the boy had said in the first place, but Cash wasn't sure of it.
The green-eyed took a deep breath. They glanced at the book that was in the boy's clutch. His curiosity is scarily similar to the person that Cash used to know. They smirk. "Fellow Herbologist, eh?"Cash uttered as they walked toward the corner desk where Cash and Henry loved to occupy.
The Quidditch player shrugged their shoulder."I have a lot of free time until my next class, which is in the evening,"Cash said to the boy as the former Beater of Slytherin pushed their glasses up. "What do you want to talk about?"They halted their steps and turned around to look at the boy in his eyes. It was not like Cash at all to have an open discussion with a total stranger.
But there is a first time for everything, right?|

That happened more often than one would think. Max would walk up to someone and word vomit an entire monologue, and the other person usually needed a minute. So he gladly repeated his request, even slowing down a little just to make sure.
He willingly followed them as they lead the way to a study nook. Nodding eagerly to to their question. Β«Mhm! Itβs the best.Β» As if there was ever any question.Who wouldnβt love to spend their day digging in soil when given the chance?
Reaching the desk he carefully placed down the book before dumping his bag beside it. He rolled his shoulders a bit, as if he was warming up to sit down. A few gestures to positively respond to what the older students are saying. If they could talk for the entire afternoon it would be great. He had classes to go to himself too, of course. Although that was far from his mind in the moment.
Upon the question he hesitated a bit. He had originally thought of the Sopophurous plant, but when one gets a chance, why not make good use of it? Β«Uhm, so you are likeβ¦at least in fifth grade, right?Β» Why was he suddenly nervous? Probably because he was about to speak of a plant he should barely be looking at yet.
Needing something to do with his hands he started fiddling with a loose thread on his sleeve. Shifting his weight from one foot to the other he found the courage to speak again. Β«Then would you know something about Venomous Tentaculas?Β» As he spoke his voice dropped until the last words were nothing but a whisper. Color rose in his cheeks, but his eyes shining with hope.
