I touched it first! pt.2 PV Jude Morgan

Floating in the air with ease, I was quite content. I hadn't ever gotten to experience magic before Hogwarts, and this definitely had to be one of the best parts of it. I felt free, like truly so free. Even just a few feet off the ground, it felt like the heavy weights that had been holding me down were finally off.

After I had sneered at the Gryffindor who had still been on the ground at the time, I turned to my friends and laughed with them as we joked about floating. We all couldn't believe we had actually managed to do it, after all, we had been practically sweating bullets over the matter before coming out here, and my headache hadn't helped at all.

As I laughed, I spoke happily, "It's my first time ever experiencing magic at this level, let alone flying!" I smiled as I giggled with my friends. This was one of the best feelings ever, and I wasn't going to let go of that, especially since I got on my broom properly before that Gryffindor did.

Though my joy didn't last long when I looked back over to the Gryffindor and my smile dropped. "How is that clumsy boy on his broom?" My eyes narrowed as I scoffed at his cocky grin and the wipe of his shoulders. The boy was so annoying, I couldn't understand how someone could make my blood boil quite as much as the Gryffindor boy managed to. I didn't even know the guy's name, and he made me mad; that was natural talent.

I scowled at him and scoffed. It was pure luck; there was no way the clumsy boy had finally gotten it together. I rolled my eyes and stuck out my tongue at him- it was childish, yes, but I couldn't flip the guy off without the teacher seeing, and I wasn't willing to lose house points over something as little as him.

I touched it first! pt.2 PV Jude Morgan
Hearing that Slytherin girl claim it was her first time flying caused Jude to furrow his brows. How was that even possible? With the way she behaved, he'd assumed she was some arrogant, pureblooded witch who wasn't used to hearing the word 'no.'

Scoffing under his breath, he ignored it. It didn't matter anyway, because that girl was still annoyingly bossy. Plus, Jude wasn't going to let her ruin his first positive flying experience.

Clinging to his broom after landing, he smiled to himself, hoping no one could see just how excited he was. His features softened, the masked confidence replaced by genuine happiness; his lips curling upwards in a bashful smile. The tip of his ears turned red. He had done it. He couldn't wait to tell Mother all about it. She would be so proud of him. The boy glanced down at his hands — they trembled, the adrenaline rush of excitement making it all too obvious for anyone who looked at him for a beat too long. He hid his hands behind his back.

Jude glared at the Slytherin, at last, and made a face at her childish display, shrugging in disdain. If she wanted to make a show in front of others, he'd let her. But he wasn't going to entertain it. He would act like the bigger person for now.
