The Following Letters were Corresponded Over the Course of a Few Weeks...
Students received letters every day in the halls of Hogwarts; but more specifically they received their news, presents, and letters of love during the morning meal in the Great Hall. Piérre had already received his fair share of letters in his time: many when he had been of the junior years in school, and fewer and fewer the more he had aged into the halls. The most interesting experience he had had with the owl post had involved the delivery of the Starsweeper XXI by his then-unknown uncle Noé, whom he had continued to write a few sparing owls back and forth with in good nature and faith. His brother's letters always brought him a certain element of joy, and Piérre was excessively careful to send his brother Wolfsbane potion despite knowing full well that Durmstrang would take care of him. It never hurt to have a back-up plan in Piérre's eyes, after all.
Yet it would seem that on this particular day his expectations of a 'typical' letter delivery would be shattered into a million little pieces, as among the owl host there flew an enormous golden eagle whose wings blotted out the light over his head as it stooped upon him. Silent and precise despite its considerable size, it would land upon the table with feathers sticking in breakfast and drinks with a high-pitched creaking chirp of a call that indicated its excessive discomfort at being subjugated to the presence of such tainting of its feathers. Burnished bronze glimmered in the light as it stirred and moved, shuffling its way almost awkwardly despite its majesty towards Piérre. After reeling for a moment and realizing that he wasn't going to be gouged by those deadly claws, he noticed that by those finger-length talons there was a pristine capsule engraved with runes. A bind rune, featuring what he could recognize after a hesitation as being Raidō, Algiz, and Othala.
Safe travels, protection, and a return to home.
The eagle chirruped at him again, stamping its foot on his plate and spilling his breakfast, and the boy hastily removed the capsule--it was ebony... no, ivory, no... it was definitely bone--and began to unwind the binding string of feathers, sinew, and small crystals that held the top closed. Without waiting for him to open it, the eagle flourished enormous wings and took to the skies, departing the way that it came with a string of continuous and loud chirping cries until its call decrescendoed into the hum and screeches of owls and humans returning to their meals while reading the paper or their letters.
"Yeesh, what did I do? Get summoned to the Council?" Piérre tried to joke, but found himself shivering instead, bracing for whatever message it was that could be waiting for him inside and noting that the external parchment read: "ᛈᛁᛖᚱᚱᛖ o Hogwarts"
The following read as such:

veela (Sindarin dialect): I have learned of you only recently, through the words of my daughter's mouth regarding the tale of her fall on the day of the waning crescent in the seventh month. She told me that you told her of certain magicks she possesses that you noticed during this event, and that it was a matter that must be looked into. However, she did not speak to me--as you had recommended to her--and the appearance of a great owl to all of us on the day of her and her brother's eleventh year came as an unpleasant surprise to me. It spoke of a school of wizarding magicks that they were invited to: Hogwarts.
It was then that Zyva shared with me the events that took place when she met you, and through this new knowledge I determined it best to contact you directly to learn the meaning of all of this as I presume you are familiar with this wizarding sort of magic.
I myself am not fully familiar with this wizarding world, and my kind has experienced difficult interactions with them in the past. I am looking for answers to these questions of mine, or at least for an explanation concerning the reason my children should be exposed to your world and people.
It is good to make your acquaintance, assuming that Yggdrasil's Eagle has found you. He will return to the wilds from which he came after delivering this letter, but I understand that your kind possesses other creatures to bear your messages upon. Fare well, Loki-kin, and may you remain in good health.

The Britalian could pick out Norwegian pretty easily--he had been inundated with the language over the summer and had picked out the general letters and patterns of the words on the whole--but the body of the letter was a complete and utter mystery to him. It didn't seem to obey any grammar or language rules that he had ever seen before in human tongues, and yet it looked vaguely familiar. Musical. Unearthly.
The vellum letter was smooth under his fingers, the ink in a shade of blue-black seeming to shimmer ever so slightly even under the lighting of the great hall in a way that evokes the midnight skies. Everything about this letter seemed unnatural. Inhuman. It was as if beauty had been injected into everything that this letter was, that it was supposed to be.
But one thing was for sure, he would need to figure out what this language was, and as he sat in the Nook mulling over it again, he determined that among the magical languages it was most likely to be that of Veela or Mermish. Mermish did not seem to make sense with the style of the letter and the stationary it was written upon, and when he had presented it to Aida @Aida Mòrsgor-Ama Ellwood for the wix' interpretation godmod approved it seemed that the words were not ones that the albino knew--in fact, it was recommended that he attempt to find someone who knew Veela, just to eliminate that as being an option as well. Aaaaaaand Piérre knew full well who may have been a good option for such a task... But the letter relay between himself and the White Niffler @Valentin Azat Schnell may have taken too long. No, he had to find a different way.
Why was it, he wondered, that all the weirdest stuff was happening to him now of all times..? But he was nothing else if not determined, and so his personal mission of locating and obtaining answers from such an individual was nigh unstoppable.
Fortunately, he already had a prospective identity in mind--after he had gotten in touch with a few contacts and had spun together his typical set of connective strings concerning the matter on the whole. An @Esme Hestridge.
That, he figured, was as good a place as any to start, anyhow.

Piérre tried to make heads or tails of the letter that he had dictated to Esme, who had kindly permitted him to utilize her as a translator for the letters between himself and "Niamh", but found himself entirely unable to interpret or comprehend any of even the shortest words among them. It was a tongue that was entirely alien to him, seeming to be a mixture of runic characters and twisting script as opposed to a patterned tongue like English or Italian, languages that at least utilized characters of the English variety. It was even divorced from Cyrillic, which he may have been able to employ Romeo's help with to determine the patterns of characters and thus learn the small and important details that corroborated importance in the writing. Veela it was, indeed. Valentin would have probably been able to recognize it if he had sent it to the beloved albino Niffler. It was a unique language, allegedly musical when spoken.
He hoped that his English manner of speaking would prove sufficient enough to entertain the dialogue with Niamh. He had never supposed he would be in a position even vaguely similar to this. It was... slightly unnerving.
Kupalo nibbled on his ear as Piérre worked to fasten the bone capsule to the eagle owl's ankle. Kupalo was a little finicky, as he usually was, but eventually stopped stomping his foot long enough for Piérre to finish the clasp and then encourage him onto his arm. "The runes are supposed to guide you back safely, I guess." He told the raptor, who was absentmindedly turning his head with his beak half-open, truly a flawless specimen of "head empty, no thoughts", before gently lifting his arm towards the skies to encourage the owl into the air with message in tow.
Hopefully Kupalo would have a safe travel. He would feel terrible if he was the reason that Romeo's owl came to any harm...

Hail, one who answers the forest,
It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Miss Skógrwight. I am sorry to hear that you were perturbed by the arrival of the owl with the invitation to Hogwarts. It's a school tradition, as I understand, and sometimes it has a bad habit of surprising those that are not as well-versed in the wizarding world. I think that you might eventually get a member of the school's staff to speak with you on the situation if your family is not familiar with the wizarding world. Myself being a student I don't feel I would be the best at answering all varieties of these sorts of questions.
I am, however, familiar enough with the wizarding world and also come from a non-wizarding background, so I can probably answer a few of your questions until someone better-suited for the job contacts you concerning Zyva's and her brother's potential education moving forward. Hogwarts is, after all, a school that teaches wizard magic to those who have it, as a sort of "public" option if private teaching isn't available. It's also an excellent opportunity to meet friends and children of one's own age and form lifelong relationships that may help them come to understand the wider magical world on the whole.
I hope that all of your family is well, and that I can help you in whatever capacity I can and am at liberty to.
Sincerely,Piérre Marchonné

Kupalo was gone for a few days, and Piérre had started to worry, but when the white owl returned with the capsule safely around his ankle and a parchment inside, he was instantly relieved. It was at this point that he started correspondence with Romeo through Kostroma, explaining to him the developments and asking him for advice.
Romeo, straitlaced as always, had suggested presenting the case to an adult and urging him to let those more suited for the matter take control of the situation. It was a bad idea, he had reminded, to try to explain matters that he may not fully understand to someone who was entirely in the dark. It was never good to give an incorrect impression, one that was bright-eyed optimism or not. Piérre had remarked back something along the lines of reminding him what it was like when they had first been forced into the magical world and how startling it had been to be introduced to it cold turkey... but he couldn't argue with the fact that he did ultimately agree with his brother's assessment.
He would have to try to be polite about it all, he supposed, as he read the letter that had been sent his way.
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Piérre, Loki-kin,
I am grateful that you have replied to my correspondence. While I do not doubt that our situation would in other circumstances likely result in some figure of authority explaining our options and opportunity, as you know we have established our family in Norway. This... incident of magic, as you told Zyva, most likely occurred within the bounds of your world's magic, as our own has the unfortunate tendency to occasionally overlap when and where it is least convenient. If they should come, very well, though I do have my doubts and my reservations about such confrontation. We have not had entirely friendly relations between our kinds in the past.
You, however, seem to have endeared yourself greatly to my daughter, and it is for this reason that I entertain dialogue with you despite the blood of Galdrekarl no: lit. "(evil) spell‑chanting man" in you. But Loki himself was the blood of the Frost Giants, and courted temporary kindship with Odin despite it. Against you I shall resist the temptation to pass immediate judgement. In the same turn, your words have implied that my children may be of the nature of your people. If this is true, then indeed they must learn to deny the evil of it--or, at least to control it properly as the Tvíættaðr no: lit. "of two (noble) lineages" they are destined to become.
Perhaps this "schooling" may indeed positively impact this, as you say, and I would like to learn more about it. What subjects and lore are taught there? What sorts of magics are encouraged or forbidden? Will there be children like themselves, not fully of your kind's magical lineage, in attendance? I wish to learn as much as possible before entrusting them to your world in any capacity.
Graciously,Niamh Skógrwight

Strange, cryptic, and more cryptic. So much for his hopes of dismissing this matter quietly. What began to trouble him most, however, were the allusions of "this world" and "yours". What was the implication? What world existed in such a way that...
Unless it was possible that...
The letter was sent back via Kupalo, the poor fellow, who had been hoping for at least a bit longer than a day's rest before being set back out on his letter-delivering errands. Had it just been Piérre's imagination, or did it seem that the bird had become slightly bolder? Eyes a little clearer and "sharp". Keen and almost witty, from the last time that he had seen him?
Perhaps it was his imagination. Perhaps it wasn't.
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Miss Niamh,
Reservations against wizardkind is understandable. There's a reason that wizards have hidden themselves from mugglekind for a few centuries now, for both their safeties and our own. I hope that I will not cause such feelings to worsen and instead hope to assuage those concerns and perhaps repair them if I can.
Hogwarts prides itself on teaching children everything about the wizarding world in the realms of magic they may need to interact in it. This is mostly spells and potions with net positive and utilitarian purposes, but also other circles of magic like Astronomy and Divination. It even offers courses in Muggle Studies, the study of the non-magical world, to those who don't know much about it. I am sure that both Zyva and her brother will find something to learn that will help them and give them the opportunities to make their own place in the world.
Something else about Hogwarts that sets it apart from a lot of the other magical schools is their openness towards children with all kinds of backgrounds, even and especially including those with mixed blood--human and non-human alike. In fact, Hogwarts may be the school most friendly to these children overall.
Truly, Miss Niamh, I shouldn't be the only one that you speak to concerning this. I can get you in contact with someone in Hogwarts' staff if you'd like to speak to them. They'd probably be friendly as well and much more capable of explaining the options and reputation of the school than I.
I hope that Zyva and her brother are doing well.
Sincerely,Piérre

Piérre, I can't tell if you're actively trying to get yourself into a bigger mess than you already are or if you're just not thinking very clearly. Maybe it's neither and you're just ignoring my good advice in an attempt to get a rise out of me.
Regardless of purposeful intent or not, it is working, and I need you to understand that you are only making this situation worse, not better.
You have good intentions, I have no doubt of this; and, for that matter, it's rather noble of you to try to take this situation on, but from what you've told me I am beginning to think that you are beginning to get involved with things not only far beyond your area of expertise but ALSO in something that you should certainly not tempt the fate of.
I am telling you for the last time: Stop this dialogue. Direct this family to someone who can help them. Don't try to bite off more than you can chew again. Please, focus on your studies, try to make friends, do something to help yourself.
I worry for you, and it's because I love you.
Please, let this go. You did your best, but now it's time to let it go.
- Romeo
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
This was the letter from Romeo that Piérre had wrinkled his nose at before stuffing it between the pages of a notebook with a frustrated exhale before he ruffled his hair in similarly anxious fashion. Why couldn't Romeo understand? He couldn't just stop something like this. He couldn't just stop doing anything that he had begun. This was part of the reason that he had fallen so far from so many graces. This was, indeed perhaps the largest culprit of, the reason he felt so deeply that he could never accomplish anything worthwhile. There was no light feelings, no half-emotions. Everything was to be felt deeply, chased after ravenously, devoured voraciously, consumed entirely.
Everything. The lustful desire to give all so that one may, in return, understand all.
Again, his brother had written. "Again".
Over and over and over again, the same rhythm despite a differing rhyme. A pulsing heartbeat of the insanity of repetition. Repetition in the anticipation of being the recipient of an alternative result of the known.
What was he to do when there was no other visibly remaining option available to him? When it was too late to change the melody of his own making? As if he did not wish to change the tritone that rang in his mind every passing instance in which he recognized that he could have done something different to rescue the instance. To resolve the chord more pleasantly, more wholly. To find the harmony in which his own "Devil's Chord" would eventually come to create a pleasant resolution.
"Let go".
He hated those words.
How could one simply "let go"? Said with just as much ease as swatting aside a gnat, no less. This too was his bane, he learned with painful difficulty. When it felt as if a piece of him was torn away, letting go became something he could only smile and agree with someone over so as to avoid the madness of attempting to defend or explain how much it disturbed him.
There was something haunted about all of this. More than what met the eye.
Against better judgement, as he was often prone to do, did he choose to ignore Romeo's good advice.
Eventually, the communiques would come to their conclusions.
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Piérre,
Based upon the discussion of our letters, I am not wholly convinced but am not entirely opposed to these matters. The circumstances being as they are, however, I am not in possession of a liaison to speak on our behalf concerning entrance into this school and the "wizard" world who has come close enough to gain our trust. If it is not forwards of me to request, I would be honored to meet you in person to discuss these matters further; if not to come to an understanding and a decision as to if this would prove to be the right path for us, then to thank you in person for saving Zyva's life. She has done nothing but speak of you gaily ever since she learned that I have been in communication with you.
Should you accept my invitation, please let me know when you will be about. I shall ensure that nothing disturbs us until matters are resolved.
Niamh Skógrwight
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
The undertone of it all was rather clear: the extension of this trust was done with extremely good faith. It was becoming more and more obvious to the boy as well that Niamh struck him as a very protective individual. She spoke rarely of her own life, let alone of Zyva and Zyva's brother, and all indications pointed towards a very tightly guarded persona and method of interaction. He knew little of the Skógrwights, despite being fed small crumbles of information that was just barely enough to shape an opinion and a picture of the situation overall.
So to be offered the invitation, this trust... Piérre did not take it lightly. Yet, it also struck him as strange that he, barely about to become an adult himself, was the one chosen for this as opposed to Romeo's or his own given advice to seek someone of a more adult nature who understood the policies of the situation better. It did not elude him that it could be possible that this situation was not entirely altruistic or forged from curiosity alone in nature. But, as he had determined as well, danger was not an unfamiliar concept or state of existing in for him. It somehow seemed that for every instance in which he faced a threat or danger, he similarly gained an understanding on how to approach, negotiate, and eventually overcome it with lesser and lesser bodily injuries (avoiding, for the time being, what toll it had taken on his mental state). Indeed, perhaps in a twisted way it was often those situations with less physical danger visibly present that inflicted upon him the most grievous harms.
It seemed he never turned away an opportunity to find more trouble.
For this reason, again, did he defy his brother's most excellent advice to simply "drop" the conversation.
Kupalo had come to be quite a wonderful flier over the course of the past weeks. He wanted to believe it had something to do with the errands he was participating in... but that was surely impossible, wasn't it?
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Miss Niamh,
I would be honored to accept your invitation. I think that this could be an excellent opportunity for our worlds to come together and come to an understanding as well. I am in school for a few more months, and have a few plans during Winter Break, but I know that I can find time to make my way north for a day or two thanks to the magical transportation options available to me. As we get nearer to Winter Break, I will let you know my plans and base my travels on that.
Thank you for your time, Miss Skógrwight. I am excited to travel to lovely Norway again on such a delightful errand.
Sincerely,Piérre
