Pleasant autumn days always meant Lucille would make her way to the outdoors. Typically with Daisy May, but this time the cat had been asleep far too soundly for Lucille to want to wake her. So, here she was, enjoying the cool breeze with a mug of hot chocolate and her sketchbook in her lap. It was typical for her to draw scenery and animals, so, with her back against a tree, Lucille looked up and began to draw what she saw. The lake looked especially enchanting today, although the clouds above meant it wasn't sparkling nearly as much as it usually did. But it seemed the lack of a sun was replaced by a girl in the distance. It was her hair that drew Lucille's attention at first; brown with blonde ends, but, strangely, it didn't look dyed. Of course, she could've used magical means to get a more natural look, but Lucille doubted it. Even more intriguing, though, was the purple pygmy puff on her shoulder. The pair looked to be out for a walk, with the girl seemingly enjoying the scenery and the pygmy puff peacefully nestled. Her intent focus could come across as staring, as she gazed at the figure. Lucille's quill worked tirelessly as she attempted to capture the sight. Slowly, the dark lines on her page began to take shape, forming a decent portrait of the girl and her pet in front of her. Finally pausing, Lucille set the book on the floor in front of her, reaching for her mug and taking a sip, as she leaned back and observed her portrait. She was quite happy with it; it seemed to be capturing the girl well, especially the way her blonde ends would stand out in the light. Being so captivated by her own work, or rather, scrutinizing it, Lucille failed to realize the girl was now coming closer. From her side, her subject had served to make a pretty picture for the day, and would now move on unnoticed. | ![]() ![]() |

Nova hadn’t meant to wander so far from the castle grounds, but the crisp autumn air had called to her in a way that no classroom or hallway ever could. Trixie, on her shoulder as usual, squeaked as they made their second lap leisurely around the lake. Multiple other students were outside as well, enjoying the weather. (While it still lasted, at least.) Trixie settled back into Nova's shoulder, her soft purple coat tickling Nova's throat. Smothering a giggle, she reached up to pet her Pygmy Puff affectionately. Trixie leaned into it immediately, squeaking in pleasure.
It was the kind of day where everything seemed to slow down. The water lapping against the banks gently and creating soothing background noise. She took a deep breath, taking in the utter calm of it all. After all, in a school like Hogwarts, you needed a calm day or two to balance out the daily chaos. Nova adjusted her scarf against the soft wind, her fingers brushing over the warm wool as Trixie’s tiny paws kneaded into her shoulder like a kitten. “You’ve got it pretty good, don’t you?” she murmured. Trixie responded with a high-pitched trill that sounded suspiciously like agreement.
They rounded a bend near the edge of the lake, where the trees grew thicker, their orange and gold leaves trembling in the light breeze. Nova slowed, her boots crunching softly on the leaves resting on the ground. It was almost so peaceful, she almost missed someone sitting under one of the trees. Curiosity piqued, Nova tilted her head slightly. The girl’s focus was absolute; her quill moved in smooth, confident strokes. From this distance, Nova could make out a few shapes on the parchment—curved lines that looked almost like curls.
She stepped closer quietly, Trixie still mostly unaware she was a girl's muse for the day. She cleared her throat slightly and took a few careful steps closer until she was within speaking distance. The girl still didn’t look up. Nova tilted her head, a crooked smile tugging at her lips. “Uh,” she started, voice light and friendly, “Whatcha doing?”

Lucille was completely engrossed in her work, her eyes scanning over it for mistakes. Everything else became background noise, as she rested her chin in her hands and stared down at her sketchbook. Until a voice broke through her focus. She snapped her eyes up, startled, only to see the girl she'd been drawing. Reflexively, her hand moved to cover the page, realizing this girl would think her strange, odd, psychotic, and all manner of things for drawing a stranger she'd never seen before. But, of course, that was only the first thought that entered her mind. The girl certainly seemed nice, with kind, inquisitive eyes and a friendly tone. Not only that, but the little Pygmy Puff on her shoulder seemed to share that expression, curiosity and interest sparkling in its eyes. It was that more than anything that allowed Lucille to relax, shoulders dropping down and hand uncovering the page. "Drawing," she said with a soft smile. "You two, to be precise," she said, flipping the book around and placing it on the floor in front of her, allowing both the girl and her pet to see their portrait. The Pygmy Puff was quite well-drawn, with Lucille's practice in drawing fur and animals showing quite clearly. The girl? Not so much. She had captured her quite nicely, but there was a stark difference in the level of detail between her and her pet. In fact, the only thing that looked just right was the way the light bounced off her curls. Letting them take their time to look at it, Lucille picked up her quill and replaced it in the inkpot, anxiously waiting for a reaction. She wasn't looking at her drawing anymore; instead studying the girl's expression. Hopefully, if she disliked it, she might just think it to be funny. "I didn't intend on drawing you, but I think your pet just caught my eye. She's adorable, and I couldn't help it!" Lucille's gaze was now fixated on the little ball of fluff, eagerly awaiting more information on it. Idly, her hands reached for the grass in front of her, beginning to tug at it and pull little blades out of the grass. Lucille was quite a restless person, and she could hardly stay still for long. In fact, the only time she seemed to rest was when she slept; otherwise, she tended to be bouncing off the walls constantly. | ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Nova froze for a moment, the girl's penetrating gaze stopping her in her tracks. She examined her from head to toe, only pausing for a second to watch her Pygmy Puff stare at her drawing with increasing levels of intrigue. Her hand seemed to drop from the page she was covering, seemingly put at ease after deeming them harmless. The girl smiled, showing them the drawing more clearly now. Nova's eyes widened, impressed at the level of detail a single sketch could contain.
"That's so pretty," she murmured, Trixie squeaking in agreement from her shoulder. Nova felt a twinge of envy, which was quickly smothered by flattery as the girl pulled the drawing back towards herself. Her eyes fixated on the ball of purple fur on her shoulder, and Nova grinned at her. "She might be adorable, but you definitely don't want to see her when she's got her mind on something she can't have." She gave a pointed look to the Pygmy Puff, who promptly slid down into the grass and towards the girl in front of them.
"Trixie, don't bother her-" The words hadn't even left Nova's mouth by the time Trixie had perched herself on the girl's lap, eyes watching her quill hover above the paper curiously. Nova let out an exasperated sigh and stared down at her pygmy puff, brushing a stray curl behind her ear as she watched Trixie settle into the girl’s lap like she’d known her forever. Typical. The Pygmy Puff had no sense of boundaries when it came to new people. Suddenly going deaf, Trixie began to paw at the paper, squeaking insistently up at the girl.

sorry for the late response!
The other girl was kind, much impressed by the drawing. Lucille was flattered at the praise, but apparently, the little Pygmy Puff, Trixie, demanded all attention to be on her. As the other girl talked of Trixie, it seemed the little creature intended on proving her words right. Jumping down from the girl, Trixie eagerly climbed into Lucille's lap, infatuated with the paper, or perhaps the drawing. It was difficult to tell, as the Pygmy Puff began to paw incessantly at it.
Lucille laughed at her antics, moving her quill out of reach. The ink on the paper was neatly dry, but she didn't want to risk the pretty pink of the Pygmy Puff becoming stained with the black ink still ready on her quill. "It's alright. She's adorable!" Lucille said with a giggle. "Although I'm not quite sure what she wants," she said, a little puzzled. Perhaps it was the cat hair that insisted on permanently sticking to her clothes that had attracted the Pygmy Puff, curious at the scent of another animal. She looked up to the girl for answers, perhaps an explanation, but, truthfully, it seemed Trixie got along with almost everyone, confidently putting herself into every situation.
"I know Trixie's name now, but not yours. I'm Lucille, and you are?" As she spoke, she gingerly attempted to pet Trixie, her movements cautious. The little thing just seemed so tenacious, and Lucille certainly didn't want to disturb her. "I'm sorry, I can't really tell what you want," she said, as Trixie pawed at the page once more. What could a Pygmy Puff want with a drawing anyway? She smiled a little at the thought of one hanging up an art piece to admire. Well, everyone likes pretty things, don't they? Perhaps Pygmy Puffs were no exception. Lucille placed her sketchbook in front of her on the ground, allowing Trixie to get a better look and, perhaps, stop the pawing. If that's what she wanted. Lucille still wasn't quite sure.
