Mistletoe Mayhem - Deck the Halls!
THE ACTION
It finally happened! Or at least it was close enough for the third year Ravenclaw…Azrael, noticing the mistletoe, contemplated it for a brief moment before steeling himself for what he was about to do - no, what he MUST do! However, his aim failed him (Azrael Acc v Jrue Eva; Azrael, 1d20+8 = 11; Jrue, 1d20+4 = 19; MISS) and instead of planting a big one on the lips of his girl, he missed, or so Dennis assumed, and landed on the side of her mouth. Hey, Dennis would take any bit of action at that moment!
The red head whooped with excitement as romance was happening right before his very eyes! This meant that Dennis’ concentration lapsed and, with the spell broken, the mistletoe was careening dangerously toward the couple. Azrael was too caught up in apologizing for such a bumbling attempt at an intentional act, he didn’t see the mistletoe and it thumped him on the back of the head (Dennis Acc v Azrael Eva; Dennis, 1d20+10 = 28; Azrael, 1d20+5 = 23; HIT)! If that was the only thing to happen, the two of them may have been safe but the impact woke what was sleeping soundly in the leaves of the decoration: Billywigs!
The bulbous blue winged insects buzzed out of the mistletoe before it landed with a thud on the ground. Angry that their peaceful slumber had been rudely interrupted and the only people around to blame were these two lovebirds, they took immediate action and attacked! The first billywig struck out at the boy (Billywig 1, B1, Acc v Azrael Eva; B1, 1d20+10 = 15; Azrael, 1d20+5 = 7; HIT) and stung him on the arm holding Jrue. While the sting was certainly irritating, it was nothing compared to the sheer giddiness that enveloped Azrael. Feelings of both grandeur and invisibility would fill his mind and an uncontrollable need to dance.
Meanwhile, Billywig 2 went straight for the girl! Oh no! Stretching out it’s stinger, it flew in a zigzag up from the floor and got her in the leg (Billywig 2, B2, Acc v Jrue Eva; B2, 1d20+10 = 27; Jrue, 1d20+4 = 18; HIT). The surprise attack landed true! Much like the fate befalling Azrael, the sting was not as painful as the mighty mirth that filled her heart. The dhampir was already fairly giddy to begin with, but instead of dancing, the sting induced a fit of uncontrollable giggles!
Would the pair regain control of the situation in time to escape? Could Jrue reach her wand in time to handle the billywigs? Would it not matter as the secondary effect took hold next round - levitation! Time will tell!

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯Was there anything about this afternoon that could go according to plan? As Jrue eyed her... friend, awkwardly, watching him bumble and stare her way just as she was, she heard a tumult of laughter bubble their way from the other side of the hallway. Jrue chirped, her shoulders tensing up as she eyed around, not noticing as the mistletoe, which had previously been precariously floating above them, now flying straight towards her companion.
As she searched for the sound of laughter, looking confused but not attempting to find it very hard, she heard another noise. The faint zipping and swishing of the small pests was heard amongst the laughter and silent snowfall. To what it belonged to, Jrue knew not until it was too late. She spotted the mistletoe falling swiftly to the ground, the green and white and red one fuzzy blur. The next thing she knew, something brushed against her leg, and her fingers and toes were tingly with a sensation she couldn't comprehend. She flicked her line of sight back up to Azrael to ask if he had noticed anything, but was overcome with a bizarre fit of laughter. She held her cheek with one hand, and her stoumach in the other, high pitched giggles and chirps escaping her uncontrollably.
Her eyes were squeezed shut, holding in tears as she giggled so much. It was like some mysterious invisible force was tickling her, but she felt no tickles! She had now been laughing so much that her sides ached, falling to her knees and throwing her head back in laughter. She managed to pry her eyes open, giddiness and all, with squeaks and titters escaping her smiling mouth. That's when she barely made it out- the blur of the tiny winged bugs, blue and barely there was whisking around the two students. B- heehee- illywigs-shee hee! She thought, the laughter clouding her thoughts and over coming her. She gazed up at Azrael, who now also appeared affected by the bugs, even if it was in his own manner.
"Ahaha- Az! Billywi- hehe! Billywigs! My wa- haha! Wand!" Jrue spoke in a broken manner, trying to reach for the wand that was now underneath Azrael's legs and spinning about as he moved his feet. "Th- the counter- eheehee- spell!" She reached for her wand, hoping that if she was able to at least touch her wooden aid she could at least get the spell started. She giggled painfully as she reached outwards, avoiding his feet as her friend kicked it away, landing a few centimeters away from where her hand could reach. Jrue splayed out her fingers, squeaks and laughs escaping her as she did so, trying to grab the wand with all of her might. She spoke the incantation as she did so, her fit interrupting some of the attempts.
"Ve-heehe- mic- Vermic-haha! Vermiculaha-m- meheee- Vermiculus.. Vermahaha!" She panted, hand just barely brushing over the handle of her magical aid. It wasn't a difficult spell, but the manner the bugs had put her under made it simply that much harder! This was surely the hardest work she had ever done at Hogwarts.. and right before Christmas!

______________________§___________________ReducioOOC notes: sorry for the delay! I've been sick with the flu and writing makes my head hurt because of the light off my phone, I hope I'm not too late to post!
_____________________§____________________It's pretty difficult to get your wand or even do anything else at all when you're dancing uncontrollably- he's never even enjoyed dancing at all!
He can't even remember where he put his wand.
Was it in his pocket? Or perhaps it fell on the floor when he started dancing?
As he looks around quickly- he spots it on the floor...now, bending down to pick it up while actively dancing won't be easy at all- but with jrue's fit of laughter it won't exactly be easy for her to say the counter spell...
Why do things like this always happen to him? It's a genuine question he asks himself most of the time, because he never does anything to get himself in situations like these and he STILL almost always ends up in at least one per week.
He's straight up starting to wonder if the universe is simply dead set on pulling him out of his shell.
Because why else would he always be in some weird situation like this one? That's without mentioning every time he tries to just do normal things around the castle and always somehow ends up the same way.
As Azrael approaches his wand, he frowns- trying to concentrate all while stumbling around as he dances- he tried to somehow bend to pick it up but of course- he couldn't and just ended up kicking it further away from where he was standing...
He turns to look up at Jrue in slight annoyance (at the situation), trying to see if maybe she had managed to use the counter spell...
He was starting to get dizzy from all the moving around- he barely even trots, he straight up just walks everywhere..it's no surprise he isn't used to THIS much movement.
He tried again to walk over to his wand and pick it up...
