We're Soaring, Flying!
Annie watched as the Quaffle soared past he talkative badger into one of the hoops. It was to be expected, she would have been really astonished if he had blocked the first attempt. "Lesson one, don't be cocky." She nodded her head to him as she now had his attention, her face faltering from trying not to laugh at his expression.Mentions: @Lawrence Belf
The girl put her un-phased face on so Lawrence couldn't tell what she was doing. She then started going towards him, zig zaging this time and last minute shot it through a side hoop. Annie hadn't wanted to make this too hard but she wasn't going to go easy on the young badger either. He had to prove himself to earn his way on the team. Plus, she had faith in him, he was determined and that was a good sign.
Her mind drifted off to when she tried out for the team. Man she was super nervous and thought she would fail. She wasn't the best and getting the Quaffle through the goal but she was very agile and could nearly always grab the Quaffle at the start of each round. She laughed at the memory. Look how far she had come, not too shabby hm?

Lawrence swallowed, nodding in response to what she said. Don't be cocky. Yep, that made sense. He had definitely got ahead of himself there. Lawrence had to remind himself that he wasn't here to think about being captain, or about his future successes-- not yet, anyway. No. Right now, he was here to think about the ball, that Quaffle she had in hand, and in that moment, it was coming right at the hoops yet again.Mentions: @Annie Morgan
Hastily, Lawrence swooped down. He wasn't going to make it in time, it was already just about flying past. Deciding to take a risk, he held firmly onto his broom with one hand, shooting towards the Quaffle and twisting over at the last second, holding out his free hand. He did a full 180-degree turn in an attempt to catch it, only for the Quaffle to fly right past again, leaving him hanging upside down like a buffoon.
"Bollocks..." He mumbled to himself, quickly straightening back up. It was frustrating, sure, but he was not ready to give up just yet. Gripping the broom with both hands, he readied himself. This time, Lawrence said nothing, no smack talk, no self-indulgence, nothing. He just sat there and stared at her, waiting for the next shot, leaning forward on the broom and ready to shoot off at a moment's notice.

Annie kept getting stuck inside her head with memories and different thoughts. She turned back to face Lawrence and her heart nearly stopped as she saw him going for the Quaffle last minute, his finger tips grazing the air right next to the Quaffle as it scored through the hoop. She silently cursed in her head, he was so close! Why was she upset? Shouldn't she be happy she was scoring goals? No, she wanted to see her fellow friend succeed.Mentions: @Lawrence Belf
She huffed and went to retrieve the Quaffle. "You are doing really good, just focus, go with your gut instinct and don't hesitate." The girl offered him a small smile before racing back off to mid field. Annie blew her bangs out of her eyes and clenched her jaw. She narrowed her eyes focusing on Lawrence and the goals behind him. The Hufflepuff took off and did a pattern, making Lawrence keep track of her in the air as she swiftly moved from the left to the right and down the field. Annie circled around the hoops once then threw the Quaffle with all her might towards one of the side hoops.
This time she didn't look away. She leaned in on her broomstick which was hoovering in mid air, waiting to see how Lawrence reacted to it. Annie sucked in a breath without knowing it and held it in as the tension began to build. He's got this..

Focus, he thought to himself. That was all there was to it-- oh, and Annie was off again! But this time Lawrence was ready, or at least, a little more ready than he had been previously. He followed her movements as best as he could, trying his best not to let her zig-zagging throw him off. He wanted to try predicting where she'd go next, but decided that that was too risky for now, when he was just starting out. He could try those tricks later, when he had actually played and developed a better sense of the game. For now, he just stayed on her as best as he could while maintaining a position in front of the hoops.
When she circled around the hoops, he doubled back instead of following her, trying to stay a little closer to them so he could block off her shot. There! He thought when she threw the Quaffle, blasting off to intercept it. Wait, no, he was going to overshoot. With how he was going now, Lawrence would pass by before the Quaffle, letting it go through after him.
He quickly turned the handle of the broom around in an attempt to stop himself, but the momentum was too much to handle. The broom spun wildly in the air, quickly throwing his body off, and he just barely held on with one hand.
Wait.
No.
This was perfect.
Using the momentum of his body and holding onto the broom firmly with his hand, Lawrence lashed out with his legs. As his body swung through the air, it turned out to be just the right timing for the soles of his boots to smack the Quaffle just as it was passing, knocking it away from the hoops. He didn't stop, continuing to use the momentum from the spinning to swing himself right back up onto the broom, grinning like an absolute idiot at Annie.

Annie saw Lawrence go into a spinning frenzy. He jerked to hard on the broom, over correcting his error. Her heart nearly jumped out of her chest but then he kicked the Quaffle. KICKED. IT. She blinked a few times making sure she saw him correctly. Yup, holding onto the broom with one hand was Lawrence, grinning like an idiot.
She felt an immense amount of joy and pride as she flew over to Lawrence. She helped him back up onto his broom, her eyes shinned with happiness. "Oh my gosh that was amazing! I mean not the ideal way to protect the hoops but you still did it! I feel like my mentor ship helped hm? Annie grinned cheekily with her comment, but her excitement was visible. She threw her hands in the air and kicked her feet out and started laughing, that is, until she leaned too far backwards and felt herself start to fall. Her hands reached out to grasp the broomstick but her reflexes were too slow.
Everything seemed to turn into slow motion. She was there, almost like she was floating, hands reaching out for anything or anyone. Her eyes widened in horror and she yelled. "Lawrence- HELP!" Time went back to normal and he voice got knocked out of her by the wind and the quick rate of her descent. Annie closed her eyes out of fear, her heart in her throat yet she couldn't scream.
Ahah just a spark of drama cause why not~

"Th-thanks." He said with a nod, looking down at his broom, then back up at her, unable to hide his excitement at what he had just done. This was going to be great, playing Quidditch. "Couldn't have done it without your help though."Mentions @Annie Morgan
Lawrence returned her grin with one of his own, then momentarily turned his head away to look at the hoops, briefly imagining a future guarding those things. He could envision that just being his whole life, and he was absolutely ready for it. That save just now, clumsy as it was, had been the best feeling in the world. Just that--
And then she yelled.
Lawrence turned to face her, but it was just an empty broom just floating before him. What?
He looked down to see Annie plummeting towards the ground. Immediately, he shot down towards her. "Hold on!" He yelled, not that that would be much help. Narrowing his eyes, Lawrence leaned forward on his broom, flying as fast as he could. Oh god, he wasn't going to make it was he? No no, this was no time for panic.
Another second-a whole second, during which they descended so far down-and he had her. Lawrence wrapped an arm around her as tight as he could, the other hand still holding onto the broom. Due to his earlier late reaction, they were closer to the ground than he would have liked
He pulled up on the nose of the broom, trying to straighten it out before they could hit the ground. This worked, and the broom did in fact not hit the ground, straightening up just above it. Lawrence, however, lost balance, causing him to fall off and take her with him. He and Annie both went tumbling across the grass. However, since the broom had only been a foot or two off the ground, they wouldn't be seriously hurt.

Annie scrunched her eyes shut even further, the fall felt short due to how high up they were and how quickly she was falling so she knew she was soon going to collide with the turf. She heard a small shout from Lawrence she thought but refused to look. The girl started to calm her breathing, ready for the inevitable, but then a hand reached out and wrapped around her. She no longer felt like she was descending at a quick rate but flying normally.Mentions: @Lawrence Belf
She opened her eyes slowly, they had to adjust to her surroundings before she saw Lawrence maneuvering his broomstick skillfully so that they didn't crash after he had caught her. All that was racing through her head was the last few scenes she had pictured. Falling off her broom, closing her eyes as she was feeling weightless as she fell, being saved by Lawrence and then tumbling onto the grass. Wait what?
Everything felt like it had happened in seconds, falling, being saved and now she was sprawled out on top of Lawrence on the turf. She felt the panic creep up in her stomach, her hands becoming sweaty as she fell backwards off of him in embarrassment. Her cheeks turned pink and her nerves were acting up again as many emotions flooded through her body. "I- I could have killed both of us. I'm so sorry, I just wanted to help you because you reminded me of myself when I tried out for Quddich, I just put us in danger, why am I so stupid!?" At this point Annie felt like she was on the verge of tears. She was overwhelmed with anger towards herself, guilt and sadness. The girl had mud streaks on her face and hands and her clothes were dirty while her hair was a mess due to the wind. She began pacing, not even glancing at Lawrence in case she started to cry.

"...What?" Lawrence replied as he looked at her pacing up and down. He had only briefly registered her on top of him, but she pushed off so quickly after that it flew by and out of his head once she began to speak-- or rather, panic and kind of lose her mind. Looking at her, Annie was a mess. Looking at himself, Lawrence was also a mess. He had mud all over himself, a couple of scratches on his face from the tumbling, the one across his cheek was bleeding a little bit. However, he didn't notice any of that.Mentions: @Annie Morgan
He didn't quite sit all the way, but rather propped himself up on his elbows, staring at his feet, then at Annie. He couldn't really tell that she was about to cry. In fact, having quite the opposite reaction, he began to laugh. "Are you kidding me?" He said through the laughter, trying to calm himself down a little, "Annie, you don't need to apologise! This--" He shook his head, "This is some of the most fun I've had since coming to this school! Yeah, sure, I almost died but then I didn't. And--and then you almost died, but then you didn't! And we're both here, and we played a bit of Quidditch, and it was all pretty fun! Even that little tumble just now... kind of a rush, wasn't it? Don't be so hard on yourself!"

When Lawrence finally spoke she turned to look at him. He wasn't much better off than her, both of them were equally dirty from the fall. She glared at him when he started to laugh but all of her emotions seemed to fade away and she joined along with his laughter. After a bit of laughing, she collected herself and he began to speak, still laughing. She studied him as he spoke and she could feel his energy and happiness as it radiated around them.
"Don't be so hard on yourself you say? Well now looks whose giving the advice?" Annie smiled, a small blush crept to her cheeks. "Yeah, I guess I just got a bit overwhelmed there, I just need to go with the flow I guess, but gosh I really did feel bad for the danger, I should be a better role-model and not try to get both of us killed huh?" Even though she had been through a lot in quite a short amount of time, her humor always came back and it was sarcastic but also had a positive twist.
Without thinking Annie got down on her knees, getting more muddy and leaned forward to hug Lawrence. "I'm glad we met and played and I really did have fun, so thank you." She said this in all honesty while hugging him, her cheeks were ablaze and made it stand out from her pale complexion. When pulling away she saw the cut on his cheek and a small frown appeared on her lips. "We should go to the medical wing and get that checked out and see if either of us have anything worse then a few bumps or bruises." She gave a light chuckle, knowing she would be aching the next morning from the bruises she acquired from the tumble. Annie began to walk off and turned to look back, a small grin tugged at her lips. "You coming slow poke?"
