A collection of second years! open to any 2nd years

The previous night, I had realised that we spent barely any time together as a year group, so I made a few posters and put them up about a gathering in the ballroom, for all the second years.
The posters all invited second years to come to the ballroom at 6pm on Saturday the 7th of February.
Now, I was standing awkwardly in the ballroom, waiting for anyone to come.
I’d got a small table, and put a jug of water and some cups on it, as well as making sure it wasn’t glaringly bright in the room.
I really hoped that some other second years came, as I wanted to make some new friends, as well as help other people make new friends. When people did arrive, I’d decided not to be the host, so just chat to people generally, and not have to worry about the responsibility.
I sat down in the corner of the room with my book - I was sure that if anyone arrived, they would make themselves known. Also, I really wanted to finish my chapter - the detectives were about to rule out a suspect.
It was so quiet in the ballroom, so I hoped people would come soon!

Charlotte had yawned tiredly as she headed back to her room after a tiring day of work and classes. She'd spent the evening in the library, and was exhausted. As she made her way back to her room she spied a piece of paper on the wall that looked like it had just been put up. She blinked a couple times and saw that the poster described a gathering for the second years at the ballroom at 6 pm the next day. She reread the sign again and decided she would go. It would be a good way to meet more people, and she'd already finished her school work, so why not? She went to sleep that night thinking about the gathering the next day.

The next evening, she started heading out to the ballroom even though she was a bit early. As she walked in, it was quiet, and there wasn't anyone here, and Charlotte frowned. Am I too early? No, the poster definitely said 6pm. Then she saw a small table set up with water, and a girl reading a book. She didn't recognize the girl. . . No, I've seen her around. I think she's in Ravenclaw. Charlotte guessed she probably was the one who set the whole thing up since she was the only one here. The girl looked quite hooked to the book she was reading, and Charlotte hated to disturb her. She walked up to the girl and asked "Is this the second year meet up? I'm Charlotte by the way."
