The library had always been one of Charlottes favorite places. Especially the cozy nook in the corner behind a dictionary shelve; making it an unpopular place thus lesser people. The advantages were endless. No annoying first years trying to make friends, Charlotte had nice dormmates she occasionally chatted with, but she really didn't understand why people were so desperately looking for friends. Sure, someone to chat with was nice, but a person hovering around you the entire time? No, thank you.
Her sneakers walked the floors at a steady pace, creating a thump echoing around the gabled ceiling. She snuck behind the shelf with dictionaries. A smile popped on her lips as she flopped down on the couch by the window. The afternoon light filtered through the glass window.
Her shoes, now kicked off as it is more comfortable, were lying about a foot away from the couch, the laces spreading out like wings. She grabbed her bag and took out her current read.
Her bag landed on the ground with a thump, toppling over at the impact. Charlotte nuzzled in the softness of the couch and crossed her legs. Her hair fell over her shoulders as she got consumed by the book.

✧ Long day! Classes and homework. Would it be called homework when they lived at school? Probably not. No matter what you called it, Max had done as much as he could stomach. After the chat with his study partner about exploring more of the library it seemed to be a shame to let this opportunity go to waste. So Max wandered aimlessly. Reading a few spines here, jumping over a bit of pattern on the floors there. The Library was truly grand. After loosing his sense of direction for at least the third time, and long after the thoughts of how he was supposed to find the way out had occurred, Max stumbled upon a rather cozy nook behind a rather extraordinarily boring shelf. The corner seemed inviting, and the girl sitting with her shoes off reading seemed to long for company. At least as he saw the situation.
Not wanting to disturb her from her deep concentration Max walked quietly on his toes up to her and simply sat down. Making sure to give her his most friendly smile, because who wouldn’t be sad to sit alone like that, he spoke up «What are you reading? Is it fun? Interesting? Contemplating?» He took a breath here, rather proud that he remembered the word, his grin widening. «I don’t really like reading all that much, but I love hearing and telling stories! Do you? We could listen to a story together!✰

Charlotte looked up as her peace was now disturbed. She met the eyes of a boy who also seemed to be in his first year.
Great, another first year.
Even if Charlotte was a first year herself, she understood why the older years didn’t like them. They were just so … loud. Tons of first years had tried to chat with her, natural since they all seemed to hold a desire to make friends as quickly as possible.
Charlotte's hands closed her book, creating a thumping sound and placing it on the space on the couch right next to her as the boy chatted on about audiobooks or something with a wide grin on his face. He seemed like that nice, bubbly, and talkative kid that every class has. The one with lots of friends but still socializes with every single breathing creature they get their eyes on. Just the type that charlotte tended to avoid.
She gave him a small smile, not wanting to hurt his feelings as he genuinely seemed like a really nice kid.
"I'm reading Anne of Green Gables. It's quite good. I don't really listen to audiobooks, but they are just right on the shelf behind the history books."
The sun casted shadows on her face as she instructed him.

No one, that’s who. What he more than caught however, was her smile. It brightened his own with the confirmation that he had been right. He knew it! Silence he supposed could be nice, but who wouldn’t prefer laughter and conversation when given the choice?
«I’ve never heard of it! Is it fun? What is it about? I suppose it’s about someone called Anne being at a place called Green Gables, but what else happens? Are you reading it for the first time?» First after the line of rapid fire questions did he consider the second part of what she said. «Audio…» He repeated with a puzzled look. He even briefly looked in the direction she had indicated. «I don’t know what that is. I’m talking about when you sit around the camp fire and tell each other stories.» He more than willingly tells before lowering his voice as if speaking in confidence. «My favorite ones are always the scary ones. Oh, or the ones about great adventures!» His eyes sparked at that, as if to underline the fact. «Do you read any like that?»
