Flashback - #009e77┃ Speech - #007514ℭaspian leaned casually against one of the carved stone archways of the Amortunnel, his arms folded as he let his sharp gaze wander over the scene. Lantern light reflected in the water below, casting gold across his sharp features. The whole setting was drenched in roses, candlelight, and charm. He smirked to himself. This was exactly the sort of thing Nova would pretend to scoff at, but secretly enjoy.
He adjusted the cuff of his robes, making sure he looked like he hadn’t been waiting long—even though he’d gotten there earlier than he’d admit. Patience wasn’t his strong suit, especially when it came to her. His eyes scanned the crowd with that calculated calm he wore like armor, though the truth was, he was listening for the first trace of her footsteps.
A grin tugged at his mouth as he remembered the way he’d secured this little outing in the first place. A few days ago, he’d cornered Nova in the courtyard with a bouquet of sunflowers in one hand and a Honeydukes box in the other. “One gondola ride,” he’d bargained with that grin of his. “You can even pretend you hate every second of it. But you don’t get the flowers or the chocolate unless you say yes.” She’d rolled her eyes, of course—but he hadn’t missed the little smile she tried to hide. Victory.
The memory made him chuckle under his breath as he pushed off the archway, running a hand through his blonde hair. Caspian tilted his head, eyes narrowing slightly as he scanned the crowd, looking for a familiar face.
“She’d better not make me wait too long,” he muttered, though the corner of his mouth tugged into a crooked smile. Waiting, after all, would make the moment she arrived all the sweeter.Word count --> 298 words

Nova didn’t know what exactly to feel now that she was only a few feet away from the Amortunnel. The scent of fresh blooms engulfed her all around, sweet and magical. There were small candlelights everywhere, flowers glowing softly. Nova smoothed out her dress, the pale white contrasting with her softly tanned skin. She fiddled with her necklace, eyes searching for the boy who had invited her to go with him.
She had considered it a bribe when he came to her with the idea, but she couldn’t help the little flip in her stomach when she agreed. Flowers and chocolate—what an old trick from the book. But she couldn’t deny it was both amusing and flattering. She had pinned one of the sunflowers in her hair, but she told herself that was just accessorizing. Nova was always good with fashion, but it wasn’t one of the things she completely prided herself on.
Her eyes finally landed on him, standing near the archway. The candlelight made his blonde hair turn almost golden, and she bit back a laugh. Straightening her shoulders, she put on her most unimpressed look and started to make her way towards him. His black robes swished at his feet as he looked around, expression slightly amused and eyes narrowed. The small sunflower she had in her hair bobbed with each step she took until she finally reached Caspian, smiling slightly. “Were you waiting for me?” She asked teasingly.
Nova kept her tone light, playful enough to disguise the sudden flutter in her chest. It wasn’t like this was anything serious—it was just a ride. She tilted her chin a little higher, the sunflower brushing her cheek as she sighed exasperatedly. “Don’t get used to this—I’m only here for the chocolate.”

Flashback - #009e77┃ Speech - #007514ℭaspian's smirk came easily—too easily, maybe—but he didn’t bother hiding it. Her words were pure Nova: sharp enough to sting, sweet enough to keep him wanting more.
Caspian arched a brow, the smirk tugging at his lips refusing to fade. “Only the chocolate?” he repeated, his voice low, edged with amusement and sarcasm. But his eyes lingered—just for a beat too long—on the sunflower in her hair. It was almost ridiculous, how something so small could hit him harder than all the candlelight and roses strung across the tunnel. He tilted his head, sharp gaze flicking back to her face.
“You’ve got a strange way of proving your indifference, Nova,” he murmured, voice laced with that sly amusement that always edged his words. “Turning up with half my bribe pinned to your head. You’re trying to distract me on purpose, aren’t you?”
He shifted his weight, arms folding loosely across his chest, trying not to look as though he’d been waiting for this exact moment. The water lapped softly against the gondolas, the air thick with enchantment, but all he registered was the faint tug in his chest now that she was standing in front of him.
He gestured to the gondolas bobbing lightly against the edge of the canal, their black hulls trimmed in gold. The air shimmered with enchantment—candles floating like lazy fireflies overhead, petals trailing on the water’s surface. Romantic to the point of cliché.
“Your chariot awaits,” Caspian said with mock formality, giving an exaggerated bow and sweeping a hand toward the nearest boat. “You can even scowl the entire time, if it helps preserve your reputation.”
“Careful now,” he teased. He offered her his hand, the corner of his mouth twitching as he added, “I’d hate for you to fall in and ruin that very unimpressed expression you’ve worked so hard on. And if you’re going to pretend you hate this, at least commit to the role. Make it convincing.”
His hand lingered there, the kind of gesture that dared her to refuse, but secretly hoped she wouldn’t.Word count --> 343 words

Sorry it's so late!
Nova scoffed despite a smile already growing on her face as she watched the Slytherin boy in front of her. He raised a perfectly arched eyebrow, grin laced with mischief. She snickered slightly, smoothing her dress once again. "I don't care if I'm 'distracting you,' anyways," she murmured with a dismissive wave of her hand, smiling. "It was just pretty, and it matched. So why not?"
She expected him to drop it after that. Most people would, but Caspian was definitely not most people. He simply gave her a look as if he could see right through her, which she rolled her eyes at. She glanced at the gondola, which was bobbing gently in the water as rose petals fell through the air. It looked like something out of a fairytale, and Nova couldn't help but feel a sense of awe while looking around.
She hesitated for a second, glancing at the outstretched hand he was offering her. Snapping out of her trance, she gave him a jokingly flat look and brushed past him, dress flowing behind her. "I don't need your help to get into a boat, thank you very much," she said as she carefully stepped onto the gondola, wobbling slightly.
The chocolate he had promised was resting on the seat, and she quickly perked up at the sight. Sinking into the cushioned seat, she eyed the chocolates, quickly deciding on one with a tiny bow. Not bothering to wait, a burst of caramel hit her tongue, and she grinned. Some rose petals landed on her dress and hair, but she didn't brush them off, letting them rest.
Nova popped another chocolate into her mouth before Caspian could comment on how quickly she was enjoying them. “You’re lucky these are good,” she mumbled, mouth half-full. “Otherwise I would’ve jumped ship already.” Leaning over the side, she reached out a hand to touch the water, a habit she had whenever on a boat—not that she was on boats often.
She dragged her fingers over the water, sending gentle ripples across the surface as she peered down into it and saw her reflection staring back. The cool touch of it grounded her slightly—less floaty, less like her stomach had turned into a confetti storm the moment she’d seen him leaning against that archway, all confidence and charm. Glancing over her shoulder, she called out, “You made it sound like I’d be ungrateful not to come. The least I could do was show up and eat your peace offering.”
She leaned back, biting the inside of her cheek, and muttered, “I guess I've had worse nights.”

┃ Speech - #007514Apologise for the late replyℭaspian stepped into the gondola, his eyes never leaving her for more than a heartbeat. The moment she brushed past him without taking his hand, a faint crease appeared between his brows, almost imperceptible, as if the disappointment was something he had to swallow down.
He let the thought pass quickly, smoothing over his expression with a casual tilt of his head, but the crease between his brows lingered longer than he intended.
When the boat shifted and she wobbled slightly, his body tensed almost instinctively. He leaned forward almost imperceptibly, eyes flicking to her balance. His hand twitched as if to reach out—but he held it at his side, the faintest shadow of concern flickering there.
She steadied herself, and he let out a faint exhale, tilting his head with a half-smile that was equal parts amusement and relief.
As she sank into the seat and dug into the chocolates, his smirk softened, noting how easily she surrendered to them despite her teasing words. The small grin she couldn’t fully hide tugged at the corner of his mouth, and he allowed himself a quiet chuckle.
He watched her bite into it, the small burst of caramel catching her attention completely. A corner of his mouth quirked. “Only here for the chocolate, huh?” he murmured, voice low, teasing. His gaze flicked to the sunflower in her hair, catching the golden glow of the lanterns. Something warm stirred in his chest, and he ignored it.
As she leaned over to touch the water, his expression softened, watching her with quiet fondness. She seemed so calm, so absorbed in the little moment.
When she leaned back, he let out a soft, almost inaudible sigh, his eyes narrowing thoughtfully. He echoed softly. “Worse nights, huh?” His voice was low, teasing only on the surface. “Glad to hear this isn’t at the bottom of your list.”
Finally, with a subtle shift of his weight, he leaned a little closer, eyes sparkling with mild curiosity rather than his usual mischief. “So…” he said casually, voice light, “serious question— I mean, it's a weird question. Random, and I dont think I've ever asked you this before. But still, what’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten at Hogwarts? I need to know if I should be worried about sharing my snacks with you.”

As Caspian stepped into the Gondola with her, she rolled her eyes at his question. "Funny," she said flatly, brows furrowing as she thought about it. The gondola slowly shifted from its place, beginning the journey. "The worst thing I ate was probably some bean from Bertie Bott's," she shuddered at the memory, and how the taste refused to leave her mouth for a week and made her breath smell foul. "I still don't understand how it's legal to sell the gross ones." She shook her head amusedly before looking up as they entered the first room.
The fresh smell of the flowers was pleasant, complimenting the scenery perfectly. They rode past all types of flowers, different colors and species. Overhead, there were birds chirping sweetly on willow trees. She grinned, turning back to Caspian next to her. A stack of cards sat in front of her, and she reached in to pick one from the middle. "Icebreakers," she said brightly, reading the question on the card out loud. "What's your favorite kind of bread?" Her voice rang in the room, merging with the slowly disappearing birdsong as the room shifted to summer.
She lifted an eyebrow at him before looking around, eyes widening at the sight of the glowing jellyfish. "Look, they're glowing!" She pointed to one that was drifting slowly next to the gondola, neon blue against the water. The distinct smell of a beach filled the air and she took a deep breath. The boat shifted more, water lapping against the outside and a few drops landing on her. She laughed slightly, grabbing another chocolate and turning to Caspian again, who was also watching the scenery.
