Election Ceremony
Jessica glanced at the tower before going inside. It was much bigger than she'd expected. Her sister had said Hogwarts was very, very big, but Jessica hadn't imagined it would be this big.
Jessica walked inside with the others. They arrived at a large hall with tables and flying candles. The students were seated at the tables. A professor lined them up and placed a chair at the head of the line. On the chair was an old, somewhat worn hat. They called out names one by one, and the person whose name was called put the hat on their head. The hat then announced their house.
When Jessica's name was called, she looked up at the hat and the chair. Her family was mostly Hufflepuff, but for some reason, Jessica's heart was pounding.
Jessica stepped into the stage, sat down in the chair, and put the hat on her head. She placed her hands on the edge of the chair and closed her eyes tightly.
"Hmm… I see…" said the muffled, strange voice coming from the hat. "Someone who would throw themselves into the fire for those they love." Then the same voice shouted even louder. "HUFFLEPUFF!"
Jessica opened her eyes, took the hat off her head, and placed it back on the chair. She knew it, she felt it. An inner voice had already told her she was a Hufflepuff. Joyfully, she ran to the Hufflepuff table, greeted the others, and sat down.
