Picky With Food and Company PV

“Interesting...” Adlai hummed slouching over the card, studying it as if there was some kind of code to crack. “I wonder...” she murmured to herself before her eyes grew to the size of walnuts.
“The library!” She exclaimed to Elena.
“How about the library? If this card is a sign and the woman on here is an author then it would only make since to go to the library, right?”

Adlai had been there plenty of times before and practically knew the way there like the back of her hand. Though, she did get lost sometimes...
“But what would be in the library that I don’t know about yet? Any ideas?” She asked Elena.
After all the library was a place of silence and concentration. Adlai’s new found ten second span of attention and frantic outburst of energy had a way of getting to her there. And, if not the library where else?

Recently there wasn’t as many exciting things happening at Hogwarts, at least to her. It must be because she’s been slowly adapting to her new surroundings. This time was the first time in about two weeks that she was genuinely surprised, and to think it was all over a Chocolate Frog.

Elena nodded encouragingly. There were a bunch of interesting topics and books waiting to be uncovered in the library though no one in their right mind would go off a hunch based off a Choclate Frog except maybe Adlai and Elena. Everyone was different in some way or manner. Though the library was a BIG place, you couldn't really find the things you were looking for unless you knew the place or asked the librarian who had a particular knack for keeping the place clean and the books undamaged."Well, if you're the rebellious type or really want to get into some interesting topics, the Restricted Section should have some things up for grabs. That is, if we're willing to risk it. I hear it contains all sorts of stuff on the Dark Arts, illegal potions, Horcruxes, monsters and whatnot."

The chance of them being caught? Likely but the librarian had a whole library to manage. It was doable, just not easy. That is if Adlai was willing."Of course, if you're not feeling like the adventurous type, we could see what the other sections have to offer. Consider it book-hunting in a sense, pick out a title that catches your eye!"/b] Now, the only question that remained was quite a simple one really. Would the two girls risk it and try poking their noses into the Restricted Section or try to remain like rule-abiding students. Elena herself had a curious knack for seeing what books were so...restricted. I mean if they were off-limits to the students, why even house them in the library? You would think they would be better off in a chest or office somewhere? It was almost like they wanted to be found."Soo, Restricted Section or normal section?"She asked her eyes twinkling with a sort of fire.

Adlai thought for a moment
“I’m don’t wanna risk getting expelled over something a chocolate frog card showed me. So let’s not go to restricted...” she said laughing a bit at the end.

“How about you, who did you get?” She asked gesturing to Elena’s card. She wondered if their cards were actual signs or just silly whims of chance. Surely they weren’t true right? But, this is a world of magic so at this point Adlai would believe anything she was told.

“If it’s some famous quidditch played I wouldn’t be surprised, I’m sure you’ll end up being one if you do try out. You’ll be a Gryffindor favorite! Just promise to explain the rules to me at some point, I’m still confused as to what is what and why.” She chuckled.

Looking down at her plate she stabbed the greens with her fork and plopped it into her mouth. Once she had washed the bite down with water she turned to Elena.
“This is going to sound like a weird question but do you know if any of the other meat was cut or cooked on the same kitchen board or pan?” She had been weary of this since she came.
“If you don’t know that’s fine, it’s a weird question anyway...”

"Fair enough/" She grinned. The Restriced Section could wait. Rumour had it some of the books could..in a sense..do certain things. What those things were, she was not trying to find out. The last thing she needed was to be fending off a bunch of books as weird as it sounded."Well, it's no Quidditch player but.."She pused the card towards Adali. The image of an eldery man holding a red pouch greeted her. He quickly reached into the pouch pulling out a odd-colored bean which he gestured in their direction with before promptly exiting the frame just as the other had done in her Choclate Frog Card."Supposedly, he invented those beans that come in all types of flavours..so no, not a famous Quidditch player but who knows, can't judge a book by it's cover after all."

Maybe it was trying to tell her something. The fact that they were discussing their future fates based off Choclate Frog Cards was laughable but it was intersting in a ..weird sort of way. Speaking of interesting, Adlai's next question caused Elena to pause a bit."The meat? Uhh, honestly that would be a question for the house elves."Frankly, she hadn't paid that much attention to the quality of food since she came. It all looked so good so Adlai's question was..interesting at best."Mind if I ask why?" It was an unusual request but she was sure there was some pressing reason behind it.

That is, if the meat was even cut by normal means. In this school of magic, anything could be possible."To be honest with you, I don't even know how they do anything in the kitchens. The food just...sorta appears. We're not allowed back there, staff only though some have tried. The elves are very protective of their food." She wondered if there was some secret to it. "See, look." Seh said nodding to a empty plate far down the table that just seemed to refill with chips all by itself. No human interfence or nothing."It's weird.."Coming from a wizard family, you would think the Gryffindor girl would have been used to such things but there still some things that shocked her. Not in a bad way..just diffcult to comprehend."I'm guessing they cook it somehow in the kitchens and magick it onto the plates here...by some imaginary force. I reckon the Professors know, if they'll tell."She doubted they would. Some secrets of Hogwarts tended to remain secrets and as far as she could tell, no one had figured out this one yet.

“The elves? I’ll have to ask them about it when I get the chance...but I’m asking because I can’t have pork or anything that has been touched by pork. I know it sounds strange.” Adlai said sighing.
“I don’t know if I can keep living on a vegetarian diet for much longer!” She whined as she dramatically turned her back to Elena and pretended to faint onto her.

“Can’t you see, I’m becoming a skeleton!” Adlai pulled up the sleeve of her sweater to reveal a sliver of her arm to Elena, though there was nothing unusual about it. As it was just an arm.
Lifting herself off of Elena she laughed. “Sorry, was that to weird?” She asked.

Half the time she wasn’t sure if she was offending anyone but her strange habits, especially with friends. She gets so comfortable sometimes that she forgets where she is and treats them as if they were her friends from Wales.

Neatly arranging her plate and cup Adlai stands from the bench. “It’s getting late so I should probably get going. I still have homework to do. I’ll see you around, ok?” She pats Elena lightly on the shoulder before waving goodbye and leaving the Great Hall.

She laughed as Adlai put on her pretend-act patting the girl on the back."I'm sure you'll be fine. Greens aren't the only thing around here! Only pork right? Have you tried the fish or alternative meats, I hear they cook up a mean fish n' chips meal on Fridays!"She said grinning. Well, the question wasn't as weird as some of the other comments she had heard this term. She briefly recalled some of the students expressing interest in using certain..repitles in the meals. The thought of it just made her want to cringe. That just sounded...repulsive no matter how you looked at it.

The girl in fact was not becoming a skeleton or so Elena thought. "Well, an Engorgement Charm could fix that."Perhaps not the best idea, but it defnitely fixed the skeleton problem."Joking of course, those things can have unwanted..effects." She waved off Adlai's apology."You're good..you don't have to apologize for everthing. I promise I won't bite." She nodded as Adlai rose having finished her share of dinner. Most of the Great Hall was emptying out by now and she was glad she had spent the meal service with someone at least. It was a nice change from being the loner self she usually was."I think I'll head out too! Wouldn't wanna get caught! Catch you later then!"She gave the girl a quick, friendly hug before heading for the common room. Elena just felt..happy. Things were changing and not for the worst. It was a nice feeling.
