Another day another studying time at the library. That has been Rose daily life lately. Not like she didn't like it on the contrary but she thought if she could find a study partner that would be funnier. However her and the social skills were far away from being the best friends ever so how could she even find someone. She sighed as she entered the library and headed towards her usual seat -her nook as she liked calling it- near the window and sat down. She admired the view in front of her for a moment before getting her quill, ink, pencil, books and parchments out of her bag she hung on the back of her chair.

Actually she hadn't decided which homework she was going to do yet so she took several with her: Potions, Transfigurations and DADA. It wasn't her favourites subjects although not her worst but she was finding having a hard time with them especially transfiguration and the last lesson they had on the different branches of Transfiguration. Although she got it it could be tricky. So maybe she was going to do it later as she took her DADA homework which was easier to her. Maybe because her dad was an Auror?

Nevertheless she concentrated herself and started her work. From time to time she was looking out of the window when her neck was hurting as she was massaging it before going back to studying.

As soon as she saw the pile of homework she had, Julia put everything in her bag and made her way to the library. There was no way she was about to do work, while feeling cramped in the common room. Sure, the Ravenclaw common room was great, but still, for studying a lot, Julia didn't like to be around too many people. That was ironic, considering one of her favourite things was liveliness, but for studying, she liked something like quiet, but not too quiet. She liked something quiet, like the library, but also something nice and not-quiet, like having a study partner. "Yes... That would be nice...", she thought. Julia had very few friends, and ever since she came, she had found her lonely little homework sessions the hardest. She didn't find the homework hard, she found the loneliness hard. What she had once thought would be fun and full of laughter had now become a part of her day she almost dreaded. Of course, Julia didn't like having these dark thoughts, so, even though she knew, Julia and luck never mix, she tried, and thought "Maybe I'll find a nice someone who wants to be my study partner. Just maybe..."
————————————————————————————————————————
Julia finally got to the library, pushing away the gloomy thoughts, and clinging to the thread of her newfound hope. As she entered the room – if it could be called that – she sank into the familiar feel of books. When Julia had first visited the Library, she had been completely enchanted by the towering, neat shelves, the various books, old and new, the smell of dust and old parchment, and not to mention, the elegance. Now, the Library was her favourite place. A place where she could escape reality, whether it was for reading or homework. There was something about the Library, the way it was quiet yet buzzing with energy, that made Julia want to stay inside for every second she could. She shook her head. How did she get so sidetracked? "Ugh! I'm too easily distracted.", she thought. Back to homework. She found a nice, cozy spot and set to work. As she laid out all her work on the table, she wondered what to start with. She decided to start with her DADA homework, since her mum and dad were both ex-aurors and her family had a long history of them. In fact, she even wanted to become an auror when she grew up. "Again! Don't lose focus, Julia!"She scolded herself. She started her homework, finding it fairly easy. She was almost halfway through her work when she decided it was time for a break. As Julia looked around, the sinking, lonely feeling came back. Then, just as she thought she would never find a good partner, she noticed another girl studying alone. The girl was a Ravenclaw. Julia recognized her from some lessons. "Maybe she could be my study partner!" She thought. It was quite hopeless, but she decided to try. Julia put her work away and walked towards the girl. As she got closer, the girl's body got clearer. She had green/yellow eyes, auburn hair, with an average height, and a sportive body. She was pretty, but looked down-to-earth, a quality Julia always appreciated. She tried to remember the name,"I think her name is Rose. Umm... Rose Phillips? Nope, GOT IT! Rose Pearce" . That was definitely it. A very pretty name. She took a deep breath, hoping for good luck, as she reached the girl's table, then, Julia smiled and said "Hi! I am Julia Evans. Nice to meet you. You're Rose, right? Rose Pearce?"

Rose was halfway her homework when her hand couldn't write anymore. She sighed. She was so young yet her hand felt like a grandmother's hand. She put down her quill and decided it was time for a short break. Perhaps she could go outside to the courtyard to breath some fresh air and clear her mind. Looking outside of the window the sun has not yet set. Rose's eyes wandered through the window at the scenery she had in front of her as she was rotating her sore wrist to loosen it up. It was such a nice weather. She could have gone take a walk near the great like but she knew she had to study. Only if she had a study partner that could be funnier or even easier to do homework. However it was not yet for now. Rose took out her small notebook from her bag before quickly writing something on it. She put it aside on the table for later.

Another sigh could be heard from her. Lately Rose have been sighing a lot and she didn't really like it as it was a sign of boredom or even tiredness. It was unlikely her especially while doing homework rather it was something she enjoyed doing yet she was sighing because of it.

I definitely need some company to do all of this homework she thought looking at her parchment.

Rose quickly glanced around to see if there was no one she may know either from the Ravenclaw house or from one of her classes. Even one of her friends but no one was in sight. She then thought she could ask to her friends when she will meet them again. She smiled at this idea she hadn't got earlier when it was obvious. Her eyes were about to go back to her desk when she noticed a figure coming to her. Rose couldn't only notice her dark hair. As the girl got closer Rose could perceive better her face. She frowned as she knew this face and tried to remember where she had seen it.

The Ravenclaw common room!! Rose recalled having seen the young girl there and they only introduced themselves to each other once but that was it. They haven't spoken again since that day. Rose was not even sure of her name.
It was the perfect opportunity for Rose to potentially find a study partner. Finally!

Then the girl reached Rose soon after.

"Hi Julia!" Rose answered with a smile as now she was remembering the girl's name after Julia introduced herself. "Yes exactly! We have met once in the common room if I recall well." she added hoping she was not mistaken. "Nice too meet you too...again." Rose slightly chuckled.

Rose thought it was the right time to ask her if she were too studying there and if she wanted them to study together. Usually Rose was not really taking the initiative to offer this kind of things to people but since Julia came to her it gave more confidence to Rose to do so.
She smiled before asking the Ravenclaw girl.

"So are you too studying and need a short break?" that was the best she came up with. And who knows maybe Julia too was looking for some studying partner.

For a moment Julia thought she got the name wrong, then the girl, maybe Rose, said with a smile, "Hi Julia! Yes exactly! We have met once in the common room if I recall well." she added "Nice to meet you too...again." Rose chuckled slightly and Julia smiled, she hadn't gotten the name wrong after all! Now that Rose mentioned it, she did remember bumping into her in the common room before, back when Hogwarts had started. Rose had been quite nice to her. They had crossed paths in the hallway and in classes before, but never talked properly. As Rose spoke Julia noticed all the homework and other materials spread out on the tables. Upon seeing this she allowed her hopes to get up. Maybe Rose was looking for a study partner! But that brought up a question. Would Rose want to be Julia's study partner? Julia sure hoped so. Her work would be a lot more fun and exciting. As she pondered over this, she caught Rose say "So are you too studying and need a short break?" Julia's hopes skyrocketed up once more. After a minute she sighed and said, "Yes. My work is getting annoyingly boring these days. I was just doing the DADA work" Julia thought and decide to give the study partner thing a try. "The homework would be a whole lot better if I had a study partner" She smiled and continued "I hope you don't mind, but I was wondering... wondering if you would like to to be my study partner?" Julia could only hope that didn't sound to corny as she waited for Rose's answer.

Rose still sitting on her chair was looking up at Julia who had come to her and engaged a discussion. As Rose remembered Julia appeared not to be a shy girl and rather an outgoing person easily going to others. Would have Rose gone to her first if she had seen her after entering the library? Perhaps but without certainty as she might have waited to be noticed first.
Rose was not sure. Nevertheless sometimes she tended to underestimate herself in her ability to reach out to others. Next time she would see a familiar face from afar alone in a corridor, a classroom or even the library she would go to them and engage a conversation. Since she has come to Hogwarts she met many new people because she has also been able to go and talk to them. Not all of them were their friends some just acquaintances but for them to become friends they needed more interactions. Rose heard Julia's voice again bringing her back to reality realising she may have spaced out lost in her thoughts. She quickly smiled at Julia who was talking about her homework. Rose's eyes drifted to her own parchment as she let out a sigh between her smile.

"Indeed. I don't even know how I keep doing and stay focused. Probably because despite how much it can become boring I do still enjoy studying." she slightly smiled.

Rose couldn't agree more as she had the same thought not so long time ago. She was also relieved not to be the only one to feel this way about the homework that were getting to set in her ways. As Rose thought earlier about Julia maybe wanting a study partner she was getting a bit more certain about this option and could perhaps asked her. What could happen though? Either Julia was accepting or she wasn't but in the latter case it wouldn't be that bad. Plus it's better to ask than not at all to regret it later. Rose was gathering all her courage when Julia spoke again first.
Words that came out of her mouth surprised Rose a lot that she widened her eyes almost out of reflex whenever she is unexpectedly surprised. Like now. Yet she was glad Julia had the same idea as her. Before answering her Rose let out a small chuckle at how the situation turned out.

"You know I had the same idea as you and wanted to suggest you to study together. But as if fate you offered first." she then turned back to look at Julia.

"I would be delighted to be your study partner." she answered with a gentle smile followed by a small chuckle.

Rose quickly looked at her watch to check the time and then reflected about the homework she still had to finish.

"Do you want us to start again together?"

Julia waited in anticipation for Rose to reply. Hoping she would accept Julia listened to what Rose was saying. "Indeed. I don't even know how I keep doing and stay focused. Probably because despite how much it can become boring I do still enjoy studying." Rose smiled slightly. Then as Julia asked about being study partners, Rose's eyes widened. After Julia had finished, she chuckled. "You know I had the same idea as you and wanted to suggest you to study together. But as if fate you offered first.". Julia smiled. What a coincidence! Life really had twists and turns of its own. What were the chances that Julia and Rose were both thinking of the same this? Really little if you asked her. "I would be delighted to be your study partner.", she answered with a gentle smile followed by a small chuckle. Julia was delighted! She finally had someone to study with, and even better – she was a Ravenclaw! A small feeling of loneliness in her body had finally gone. Lately the loneliness had increased, ever since Orla's letter about her grandfather. Julia still had her friends, but she had started becoming more and more reserved, more and more quiet. Not the outgoing friendly girl she was, and the one she wanted to be. But now, that girl started coming back a little as she made more friends, trying to distance herself from home and it's problems. She was about to say something when Rose said, "Do you want us to start again together?". Smiling, Julia replied, "Of course! Which one would you like to do?"
