Like a Duck to Water

The 'fit: a white T-shirt with a duck, a duck and a goose. blue jeans. black-and-white chequered vans.

Cyrus was just tickled pink that his display with the boats had gone over so well. A broad grin decorated his sun-tanned face, and all he could think for a moment was, still got it! He watched giddily as the red-haired boy clapped, and so did others in the background. Others! That was it! Brandishing his wand and a rubber ducky, Cyrus moved his hands in an arc-like, rainbow motion. 'Hear ye, hear ye!' he began. 'Today is a really important holiday. Like, super important. Because it's about joy and about love and about ducks.' Clearly, ducks were on the same level as joy and love. Duh.
He cast a sly, playful glance at the boy, and then at the audience. 'What is this immaculate holiday? Well, my friends, it's International Rubber Ducky Day! Every July 18th, rubber ducks will take to the streets! Or, well, your hearts and your homes. These lil guys –' He gestured to the fountain, where the ducks were still 'swimming' about with the boats. '– are free, and they're looking for a loving home!'
Cyrus hoped that was a good enough explanation of the holiday he had brought into the world. 'If you have questions, such as, "My good Mr Darsel, what is a rubber ducky?", well, fear not! A rubber ducky is, well, a rubber ducky. A duck made of rubber. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and some even look like Albert Einstein! Or glow in the dark – no spells or potions necessary.' Seriously, he could have been a travelling salesman with how good his speech was! 'This young man here –' He would do jazz hands in the direction of the redhead. '– has quickly proven himself a master of the rubber ducky. Can you do the same?'
He levied the question at the audience, inviting them to come forward and try their hands at spells and duck-loving fun. A few kids came up to take the ducks, and Cyrus turned to the younger boy, his eyes bright. 'I can't believe this is working! This is lit!'
