The Fair
It was 2015, and the Harringtoms had arrived in London for the bi-annual Solstice Fair. Adam Harringtom could still feel the chill of the late December wind through his thick winter coat, and his mother smiled down at him as she passed him a small cup of hot chocolate. "Don't burn yourself, honey," she warned, and Adam nodded as he took a sip of the drink. Hot chocolate was one of his favorite parts of winter. It was certainly on top of his list of favorite things at the Solstice Fair. The fair was officially a Muggle gathering in East London, but it had drawn the attention of several wizard families over the years and was now known as one of the best places to converse and stock up on supplies during the winter months. Adam's family had started coming when he was six years old, and even now, when he was nine, the place still held an air of magic for him. There was always something different at the Solstice Fair. The Muggle attractions were fun enough, and Adam enjoyed riding them with his brother, but the wizards' exhibits were the truly interesting spectacles. They were well hidden from Muggle eyes, but they were extravagant nonetheless.
Adam couldn't wait to explore this year's fair, and he stood impatiently behind his family as they finished buying concessions. Noticing his uneasiness, Adam's father laughed and knelt down next to him. "Ready to get out there, bud?" Adam nodded and sighed.
"Dad, when are you finally going to let me go out on my own? I'm nine. I can handle it." Adam's father shook his head and laughed.
"Soon, buddy, soon. For now, why don't you head out with Dean? You two can walk around together while your mom and I browse. Sound like a deal?" Adam groaned and accepted his father's offer, and soon he found himself tailing behind his older brother through the crowded passages of the Solstice Fair. He trudged along in silence for a few minutes, then looked up to ask a question. To his horror, Dean had disappeared. Adam was all alone in the middle of the fair, and he wasn't entirely sure how to make it back.
"Dean?" he asked hesitantly. "Dean! Where'd you go, you jerk!" No answer came in response. Adam really had been left alone. He felt a sense of panic rising in his chest. He didn't know this place well enough to navigate! What had he been thinking?
What was he going to do now?

The Fair
Eri's Aunt like usual made her come to the bi-annual solstice fair. Eri walked outside ine the chilly air dressed in her favorite white fur covered winter coat. Her brown hair covered by a white furry hood.
Eri's aunt walked by her side and said, "Why don't you go enjoy some rides or exhibits? I'll be over here if you need me." Eri nodded and walked through a crowd of people when she heard a boy yelling for someone.
When she had walked up to him she realized he was about her age. She tapped him on the shoulder. "Exuse me? Are you lost? I can help you navigate this place if you want." She said quietly. She smiled waiting for his response and she wanted to seem friendly.
She looked through the crowd and could see her aunt at a booth. She then remembered she didn't introduce herself. She held out her hand for him to shake. "Sorry. I'm Windstone, Eri windstone." She was trying to be polite even though she just batged over to him and spoke. She felt like she was embarrassibng herself.
Her cherks flyshed ref in embarrassment. She hoped he didn't notice she was embarrassed.

Adam looked up at her. He hadn't seen many people around his age at the fair as long as he had been coming. They were all closer to his brother's age, and it felt nice to finally have someone to talk to. "Hi, Eri," he replied, "I'm Adam. Sorry about the yelling. My jerk of an older brother disappeared on me. I like your coat." He shook her hand politely and smiled. For all that London got a bad reputation, the people seemed to be pretty nice. He was glad that she had taken the time to help him out and talk to him a little bit. Adam was usually lost in the sea of adults or teenagers that came to ride the fair's rides or admire its exhibits. This year, it seemed like he'd have a friend to walk around with.
"Are you sure? I'd really like the help," he responded. Adam wondered if this girl was part of the wizard community, too. He had never met her before, but Windstone seemed like a familiar name. He might have heard his parents or his grandparents bring it up a few times before. He couldn't really remember. Oh, well, he thought, better just to avoid them in case she's a Muggle. Feeling much happier now, and much more confident about the day's proceedings, he asked, "Where to first, Eri?"

"Thank you. I want to see a wizard exhibit. Wait forget that I said that." She face palmed. Now if he was a niggle he would think her strange. She shook her head and lead him towards the eggscrambler ride. "So what do you like to do for fun Adam." She smiled and put her hand on her chest feeling for her necklace feeling the circle she sighed and put her hand down.
The crowd had thinned as they neared the rides. "I bet having a sibling isn't all that bad. I just live with my Aunt while my parents are famous journalists and travel around."
She smiled seeing the rides they were getting nearer. They walked towards a ride and she was a tall brown haired boy. "Is that by any chance your brother?" She pointed at the boy as they neared the ride. She wasn't very good with names but she thought that night be Dean.
She pulled her coat tighter around her small frame and shivered. If only she could produce fire instead of being able to make liquids change shape or color, and float. Her green eyes stood out against the white coat and seemed to sparkled.

So she was a wizard! Adam was delighted, but he didn't get much of a chance to ask about it before she had moved on. They were approaching the scrambler, and when Eri asked him what he liked to do for fun, he had to think about it for a moment. "You know, I do love heights. Drop rides, roller coasters, all of it. Thanks for asking!" Adam was glad this girl was being so nice to him. She didn't have to walk around the fair with him today, but she did, and he was extremely thankful.
Adam was surprised to hear what her parents did for a living. Famous journalists, traveling the world! He couldn't imagine what that would be like. At least it sounded like her aunt took good care of her, though. She had that nice coat, and it looked like she had a necklace that she treasured, too.
His thought process was interrupted when Eris spoke up again next to him. She pointed out a figure close by, and Adam cursed inwardly. She was right, it was Dean! He had no desire to be found by his brother and be dragged along with his friends, so he turned to Eri and asked, "Want to walk around a little more? I haven't been on any of the rides yet." He tried to steer them out of Dean's line of sight, and hoped that she'd agree. He didn't want this experience to end just yet.

"Sure! Where to?" She could tell he didn't want to be dragged around by his brother. "So you do like heights? I don't mind them." She smiled at him. She let him lead her through the fair. Apparently he enjoyed being away from his brother.
As they walked away Adam's brother noticed Adam for a split second then Adam and her dissappeared. They were on the way to some more rides. She smiled as they continued walking at the fair.
She looked at all the people from different places. She looked at all of their clothes. She had never seen so many different people from different places.
"Adam, where are we going?" She asked not knowing this part of the fair. She continues walking after him.
She started to get lost in her thoughts as usual. She started thinking about Hogwarts and If he had ever heard of it. She just couldn't wait to go there was so much more magic to learn than she ever thought existed. She contonued to get lost in her thoughts.
Her thoughts wrre quickly interupted by the sound of fair rides and children on the rides. "Which ride do we do first?" She asked.

He was glad to hear that she was willing to ride some of the fair's rides while they walked around. While Eri seemingly sorted through her thoughts, Adam looked around at all of the attractions, wondering which of them looked most exciting. Should he leave the best ones for later, or should he try to get them in just in case he ran out of time? Very risky business, fair rides. They could be open one minute and have a mile-long line the next. Turning back to face Eri, he replied, "We should probably get some tickets first, huh? I don't think they'll let us on otherwise." He tried to remember where the various fair ticket booths were located around the grounds. He didn't want to have to end up walking to the other side of the field, after all.
Since Adam's memory seemed to be failing him (it must have been the excitement of the night), he chose a random path and started to walk down it. "I really don't know where we're going," he confessed, "but there's bound to be a booth around here somewhere, right?" Adam really hoped he was right. This girl was nice, and he didn't want her to think that he didn't know what he was doing. Besides, this was his first year away from his parents, and away from Dean.
He couldn't allow anything to go wrong this time.

The Fair
She smiled and continued walking. She pointed towards the opposite direction. "The ticket booth is this way." She took his arm and dragged him gently towards the ticket booth. "Come on I'll pay." She continued to walk that direction. It was pretty crowded but the line at the ticket booth was not long. She got two tickets and handed him one. "Let's go ride some rides now." She walks through the crowd towards all of the rides leading him quietly. "Which do you want to ride first?"
They get nearer and nearer to the rides and the crowds get larger as the rides get closer. Some rides have huge lines, and some do not. She smiles as the air gets warmer and the sun starts shining brightly. The clouds that were there disappeared from the sky.
Everywhere around them, thee were people from different nationalities. She continued to walk towards the roller coasters and drop rides. Hopefully, they wouldn't have to wait very long to get to ride something. She smiled seeing the lines weren't very long for all of the rides in the area. She kept walking towards the rides. "Pick one the lines are not very long today."

She was right. The fair this year was surprisingly empty. The logical part of Adam wondered if this should be any cause for concern, but it was quickly overcome by the part of him that celebrated their freedom. Where should they start? The possibilities were endless.
Adam pointed to a ride in the corner of the fair. It was one that was becoming popular with Muggle children, but seemed to have been around for a while. Resembling an alien spaceship from the Muggle movies that his father had introduced to the family last year, it spun quickly in a circle and flashed colorful lights from inside. Apparently, it was supposed to produce such a strong force that riders were pulled to the walls and stuck there. It sounded exhilarating. Adam had always wanted to try it.
"Ever been on one of those?" he asked, looking back at Eri. He hoped she'd be willing to try it out. She seemed eager enough -- after all, she had bought the tickets -- but he could never tell what people were thinking. Smiling, he took a few steps towards it and checked to see if she was following. The Fair
She looked around. It was very weird that there were not many people there. Though it was early in the morning and it was normally very busy in the afternoon. At least they would not have to wait very long to ride the rides they wanted to. This would be very fun. Normally every time Eri came to the fair she had to wait in long lines to ride any ride. The less people the better time she would have at the fair. It wasn't like she didn't like people she was just not very patient at sometimes especially when it is cold out.
Eri held the tickets firmly in her gloved hand and looked at the ride Adam had asked her about. She never had ridden a ride like that but she would love to try it out. "Sure let's go ride it before the line gets longer." She knew it would be a while before the lines would start getting longer, but that did not mean she didn't have to rush.
She walked over to the ride hoping Adam was still behind her. The last thing she needed was for Adam to get lost in the crowd of people.
Eri held the tickets firmly in her gloved hand and looked at the ride Adam had asked her about. She never had ridden a ride like that but she would love to try it out.
