Annie quickly slips on a yellow turtle neck sweater and some leggings along with her brown boots before heading out of her dorm room. She quickly went down the stairs and past the a few corridors before opening one of the large doors and the entrance of the school. Annie sighed as she took in the beautiful sight.

A white puff of her warm breath was released into the cold air. She shivered before marching down through the dewy grass to the Quddich Training Picth. It wasn't sunny but that didn't stop the young witch from getting a training session in. She believed that there was always room from improvement. With those words echoing in her head she grabbed a broom and pulled on some gloves before walking out into the large area. Annie yawned and shook her head, she had asked to borrow the quaffle today and she had that slung under one arm.

A small smirk appeared on her lips as she threw it as high as she could up in the air before mounting her broom and pushing off from the ground. She tore after the Quaffle, easily snatching it before heading towards one of the hoops. The wind pulled at her hair, the wavy mane of chocolate blowing behind her. Annie sped up towards one of the hoops and launched the quaffle through it successfully. A small smile appeared kn her face as she imagined the crowd cheering for her, or was someone actually here. She shook her head to clear her mind and peered around swearing she heard something.

Lawrence had fallen asleep in the stands. He had been up there earlier, imagining his life on the pitch, soaring high above the world and playing the game he loved most. He had sat there for so long that eventually, he grew too tired to try walking back to the common room, and indeed, had lost track of time, even though he had planned his schedule quite meticulously around naps and not much else.

As such, seeing as there wouldn't be enough time to squeeze in the entirety of a nap before class if he were to spend time walking back, young Belf had decided to nap out in the stands. So long had he spent there that he not only enjoyed a splendid nap, but also missed his class. The consequences of his actions, however, quickly melted away when he looked out at the pitch. Someone was playing-- a girl. He rubbed his eyes, then looked again. A fellow Hufflepuff? No way! Lawrence leaned forward over the edge of the stand, eagerly watching. So eager was the first-year, and so much did he lean, that he eventually fell over the edge.

"Well that's not ideal..." He thought to himself as he plummeted down, rather upset.

She shook her mind to clear the cheering from her head. Man she had a big ego when it came to Quddich.. Annie retrieved the quaffle and tucked it under one of her arms gliding lower to put it away and go to the locker rooms. She then paused and saw a boy gazing out on the field at her in admiration. The second year felt flustered before she realized he had tipped over the edge, his body falling rapidly towards the ground.

Annie sucked in a breath and dove towards the young wizard scooping him up a few feet above the ground on the end of her broomstick. She hovered un the air for a second to regain her breath and check him for any injuries before landing on the ground and helping him off. Her eyes sparkled with worry before and amused smile snuck their way in her lips.

"Hope you are alright then? I wouldn't normally advise leaning that far over the rails, good thing I was out here to save you from a trip to the Medical Wing and a broken nose." Annie gave a small laugh but quickly calmed herself and stuck out her hand in greetings. "Didn't know I'd have a crowd today, the name's Annie Morgan, Chaser on the Hufflepuff Quddich team, and you are..?"

Lawrence took a moment to gather himself upon being set on his feet, doing his best not to throw up all over the girl. He took a moment to just catch his breath before looking over at the other Hufflepuff as she spoke, eyes widening when she mentioned his house.

"Thanks to you, yeah. Bloody hell, I think it'd have been a lot more than just my nose..." He replied with a sheepish grin, taking her hand and giving it a single, nervous shake, "You saved my damn life, you did! Thanks for that. I'm Lawrence Belf! I-I'm a hufflepuff too!"

He nodded enthusiastically, letting go of her hand and reaching into his pocket, "Pleasure to meetcha. I think we're going to be teammates soon. Well, I hope." He pulled out a pair of chocolate bars, offering her one and wasting no time digging into his own. Once Lawrence began talking, it was hard to make him stop. When he was silent, however, he was silent.

He jerked his head to the side to get the hair out of his eyes, speaking through a mouthful of chocolate, "You're chaser, huh? That's brilliant. I'm going to be keeper. Well, eventually. I haven't actually applied yet..." At this he looked away, frowning, but then shook his head and looked back at her, "But I'll try out soon! O-once I figure out how and when and-and-and where..." Though his expression remained one of confusion, he nodded firmly, presenting quite the befuddled image.

Annie was taken by suprise as the boy, who introduced himself as Lawrence started talking. He mentioned how he was a Hufflepuff and kinda blabbed how he wanted to be a keeper on the team. He did talk a lot, but nothing Annie couldn't handle herself.

She felt him out as the kind of kid who was nervous at first, when he first shook her hand but she was friendly and it willed him to open up, even scoring herself a chocolate bar. Annie gave a small and happily accepted his "peace offering". "A keeper hm? Not a bad position, I don'thave the patience to hover the entire game, and I would feel absolutely terrible if I couldn't save a goal but it happens." "Now look who is blabbing.." Annie rolled her eyes and mentally hushed herself.

She perked up at the boy's interest to try out though he had no clue. "Oh trying out, well there is a sign up sheet, that's how I found out and you write you name down and what position you want to try out for then we put your skills to the test and you end up on the team. If you're lucky you can get first or second string but we do have some reserve spots in case yah know, bludger comes and whacks yah.." Annie was being quite loud and sarcastic but shuddered at the echoing thumps she heard each game as an unlucky player became the target/victim of a bludger. The Hufflepuff gasped and her eyes glowed with excitement. "Hey, why don't we do a trail practice? You can show me what you got and I can try to score a quaffle through the hoops, I promise to go easy on you." She grinned, it was fun and practice at the same time what could go wrong?

"Yeah, I wanted to be a beater at first. Me dad was a beater, though I don't know he was a very good one... seems like he took more hits than he landed, if y'ask me, but he don't talk about it too much." He nodded in response to the new information she gave him, "Second string, right, right." Lawrence had really got ahead of himself with his Quidditch fantasies, and had to remind himself that not only was he a first-year, but he wasn't even on the team yet! He was just about to get lost in that thought when Annie hit him with the idea of actually playing. He couldn't help but grin at her, visibly excited by the thought of getting some practice in, and potentially a new friend.

"Whoa, no way, really? Go easy on me, huh? We'll see about that..." It was then that he realized, and his his cheeky grin melted away, "Well, I'd love to. But I--" His shoulders sank as he looked around, then back at her, "I haven't got myself a broom. I'm still a first-year, see, so my parents wouldn't let me bring one, something about some nonsense rules..." He shook his head reproachfully. "I don't really know where to get one around here."

Annie chuckled at his story about his dad. "Yikes that's gotta hurt. See I wouldn't mind being a beater cause I have decent strength but if I knocked somebody off their broom and they got injured because of me.." Her face darkend and she frowned feeling guilt in the pit of her stomach even though she hadn't done anything. She blinked a few times clearing those thoughts and going onto something happier.

"Ah yeah, my mom's the only magical one in my family. My dad seems to like the idea of Quddich though from how I've explained it to him in the most.. simple of ways. My mom on the other hand, she was a Ravenclaw, never saw the point in it, oh welp she missed out." Annie grinned but quickly became flustered due to talking so much.

She saw the cheeky grin spread across Lawrence's face and she couldn't help but smile back, her heart doing a somersault for some reason. He then looked around and looked back at her, defeated. She heard him talk about not having a broomstick and she merely rolled her eyes. "You think my mom would let me have one? Nope. Until I can buy my own one I use a school broom and I know where to get one for you."

Annie quickly ran off into a Locker room on the side of the pitch. Before racing back out she found a decent in shape broom with no too long twigs or splinters. She ran back to where Lawrence stood and held out the broomstick to him. "You got this!"

He listened quietly when she spoke about her parents. "Your mum, eh?" He nodded thoughtfully, "Yep, other way around for me. Mum's a muggle, dad's a wizard. He was a Ravenclaw too, and all his family before him. They wanted me in there as well," Lawrence shrugged, "Didn't care much, but I think I'm better off in Hufflepuff."

His eyes lit up when she told him about her broom situation, which wasn't all that different from his. Before he could say anything, however, Annie had run off, and so Lawrence just stood there, waiting. He took this time to reflect on the past couple of minutes. First, he had woken up from a splendid nap, although it wasn't the most comfortable, given that he had been in the stands. Perhaps a 7/10, an 8 if he wanted to be generous.

Then, he'd nearly died watching Annie practice. Okay, slightly out of the ordinary. Hopefully not par for the course.

Then, this girl had swooped in and saved his life, and was now about to play Quidditch with him. Alright, so things were looking up from near-death not long ago. He'd found some nice company, too. He was glad to see her returning, and with a broom for him, no less!

"Oh, fantastic, thanks!" He said, beaming as he took the broom from her. He began to mount it as he spoke, "This is goin--" Lawrence slipped mid-mount, falling facefirst on the ground. However, he quickly picked himself up and hopped right back on, pretending as if nothing happened, "going to be great! I'll wop you!" And with that little bit of trash talk he shot off towards the hoops, hoping against hope that he was ready for whatever she had to throw at him. God, it'd be embarrassing if he wasn't, especially considering that she was on the team.

Annie nodded as Lawrence explained his family situation to her. Both of them were half-blood and both wizard parents were from Ravenclaw. She smiled at the similarities between them, knowing that all friendships started out this way. Her smile grew even larger when he said he was better off in Hufflepuff. "Well I think so too, glad to have you here, but either way I feel like we still would have met and became friends."

He had seemed to be in deep consideration when she came back with the broomstick and she was curious but shook it off. He took the broom from her hands and began speaking and mounting the broom at the same time only to fall on his face. She covered her mouth in horror, her eyes growing wide in concern. Annie then let out a loud laugh as he got back up and tried mouting the broom again acting as if nothing happened.

"Oh- oh my gosh I can't breathe- sorry I couldn't save you from that fall- oh my gosh I'm so mean for laughing!" She spoke between laughs, clutching her stomach and trying to recover her breathing. Before she could see his reaction he zoomed off towards the hoops.

She was glad he could at least fly the broom, which made up for his bad trash talking and mounting. Annie let out a chuckle recalling the previous moments and smirked before mounting her broom. She grabbed up the quaffle in her other hand and hovered up so she was level with him. Not giving him a chance to be ready, because in a game of Quddich you had to be alert and ready at all times, she zoomed towards him. She threw back her arm and released the quaffle towards one of the hoops, it wasn't a hard or sneaky move but it was a fast, straight shot.

When she laughed, Lawrence tried his best not to react, but he could do nothing to stop from blushing out of embarrassment, and so he had flown away to the hoops as quickly as he could. By the time she came up, he was a little calmer. Her sentiment regarding how they would have been friends anyway, regardless of house, was comforting to him. He had met a few other students, sure, but he hadn't really befriended or spent actual time with anyone yet, so this was a nice change of pace.

Coming up to the hoops, Lawrence took a deep breath, then slowly exhaled. He took a moment to size them up, giving himself a small nod, just to try and boost his own confidence. As far as he was concerned, Quidditch was the most important thing in his life, and this right here was his beginning. With (hopefully) a future teammate, no less! He turned away to face Annie as she flew up, a somewhat cocky grin on his face. He felt ready.

"Alright then, Miss Morgan, come at m--" Before he could even finish, she had thrown the quaffle. It wasn't that she had gone for a surprise attack or anything, Lawrence had just expected her to take a little longer before actually starting. She, however, had gone right into it! It was a pleasant surprise. The quaffle whizzed past his head, flying straight through the hoop. He watched as it did, then looked back her. "Oh-- right into it then. Alright, let's do this, I'm ready now, let's go!" She wouldn't get him so easily again. Well, hopefully.
