The Clocks Academy
Notes before I begin:
This story is set in a particular place, but, as this is here for anyone to see, I am going to blank out place names using
(random, I know, but easiest to type)
This is the first big story I have ever tried to write, so please don't criticize it too much. However, if you have any ways to make it better, please owl me!
Also, my book isn't currently in chapters, so I'm splitting it up as I go along.
If you want to roleplay reading the book, you can say it's by: Anna Brown ( random name, to keep it anonymous)
I hope you enjoy!

The Clocks Academy
Anja was walking along1. And so the story begins
When Anja woke up, she was back in bed, her head throbbing. She suddenly sat up, remembering the last events before she passed out. Carefully climbing out of her bed, Anja picked up her book, and walked down the stairs.
She sat down at the table in the kitchen, opened her book, and started to read.
It was a gripping tale, full of adventure and danger. A young boy had just been recruited by a team, trying to stop an evil inventor-genius from taking over the world.
Finishing her chapter, Anja was about to close her book, when a small, silver cylinder fell out from the spine of her book. It had a padlock attached to it, and a note saying, "10, 03, 5".
"What could it mean?" Anja quietly exclaimed.
Sneaking out of the door, she ran down the cobbled street, her blonde hair flying out behind her, until she reached the house of her best friend, Lils.
Lils was 13, a year older than Anja, but didn't look it. She was half-a-head shorter than Anja, however Lils had the ability to solve incredibly complex problems in her head. She was the perfect person to help Anja with the note.
Anja knocked on the door, and it was opened by Lils, then, after a brief hello, the two girls went up to Lils's bedroom and closed the door.
"What is it?" asked Lils.
Anja told Lils from the beginning; the hit on her head, to the metal cylinder. Then, she took out the cylinder and the note.
"What do you think about it?" asked Anja.
Lils flicked back her hair, and took a closer look at the note.
"It looks like a code!" she said.
The Clocks Academy
Half an hour later, once Lils had gone through all the codes she knew, Lils picked up the book, with a look of dawning realisation on her face.1b. And so the story continues
"It's like co-ordinates in the book." Lils explained, "Page 10, Line 3 and Word 5. It leads to the number 2030!"
Anja grabbed the metal cylinder, and put the number 2030 into the padlock. With a gentle click, the cylinder opened.
Anja reached inside the cylinder, and pulled out some papers. She read, "Anja and Lils, you are half-way through your application to The Clocks Academy. The details of your next challenge are as follows: Go to the Cathedral, tomorrow at 1:20 pm, and identify the spies. then, go up to them, and say the word "Clocks". Then they will give you something."
"What on earth! I haven't applied for an academy!" Lils exclaimed.
"Neither have I." Anja replied, "But this is creepy. How do they know our names, and that we are working together?"
Anja looked up at the clock.
"Oh no!" Anja exclaimed. "I need to go. See you tomorrow!"
"Meet you at 1 by the Cathedral." Lils said.
As Anja ran back to her house, her mind drifted back to the morning, when she had thought that the most exciting thing that would happen would be the shop running out of cheese. After dinner that evening, as Anja lay in bed, she thought back about how she had been hit that morning, and whether it was connected to all that had happened in the afternoon.
The Clocks Academy
Anja opened her eyes to a bright summer sun the next morning, so she climbed out of bed, and sat down in the dining room, waiting for her mum to arrive for breakfast.2. Fire alarms and diamonds
20 minutes later, Anja's mum still hadn't turned up for breakfast. Worried, Anja looked at the clock. It was 9:20, so Anja's mum would have already left for work. Relieved, Anja stood up, walked through to the kitchen, and put a slice of bread into the toaster.
Spreading butter on her toast, Anja sat down at the kitchen table. It was 9:25, so she had 3 hours, 35 minutes before she needed to meet Lils at the Cathedral.
Picking up her shopping list from the day before, Anja decided to do the shopping she'd missed out on the day before.
10 minutes later, once Anja had got dressed and ready, she walked out of the front door, and locked it.
Once her shopping was done, Anja decided to go to her favourite bookshop, and see if there were any good-looking new books. However, when she got to the entrance, there was a big commotion.
"Thief!"
One of the sales staff was holding up a scared looking girl by the scruff of her neck.
"She stole a book right off the shelf!"
"No I didn't!" yelled the girl, but she was drowned out by the sales staff.
Anja couldn't just stand there while an innocent girl was accused, so ran forward into the building.
"Where is it?" Anja muttered.
Finding a panel, Anja pressed the big red button. A large ringing filled the air, filling all the staff with terror. The fire alarm!
Sensing her opportunity, the girl wriggled out of the sale person's grip, and ran to Anja.
"Thank you." She said.
"We need to run!" said Anja.
